2012 LOS ANGELES FILM FESTIVAL LINE-UP & CLOSING NIGHT PREMIERE

HollywoodNews.com: Today the Los Angeles Film Festival, in conjunction with Presenting Media Sponsor the Los Angeles Times and Host Partner L.A. LIVE, announced the Closing Night film and official US and international selections for the 2012 Festival. Guest Director, Artists in Residence and Conversations with special guests will be announced later this month. The 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival will screen a diverse slate of nearly 200 feature films, short films, and music videos, representing more than 30 countries, along with signature programs such as the Filmmaker Retreat, Poolside Chats, Coffee Talks, music events and more. As previously announced, Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love will be Opening Night, sponsored by Virgin America, and Lorene Scafaria’s Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Ava DuVernay’s Middle of Nowhere and Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild were selected for the Galas section.
Returning to downtown Los Angeles and headquartered at L.A. LIVE for a third year, the Festival will run from Thursday, June 14 to Sunday, June 24. Now in its eighteenth year, the Festival is widely recognized as a world-class event, showcasing the best in new American and international cinema, and is produced by Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that also produces the Spirit Awards.

The Oscars® to remain in Hollywood

HollywoodNews.com: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and CIM Group announced today that the Academy Awards® will remain in Hollywood under a new 20-year deal. Concurrently, in a separate agreement, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) and CIM announced a 20-year agreement to name the Dolby Theatre™ — the iconic theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center® and home of the Academy Awards since 2002– a showcase of technology innovation.
“Our ability to swiftly conclude two significant contracts with global entertainment leaders affirms Hollywood as a thriving district, the Dolby Theatre as the ultimate entertainment showcase and Hollywood & Highland Center as a cornerstone for both the local and entertainment communities,” said Shaul Kuba, Co-Founder of CIM Group, owners of the Hollywood & Highland Center. CIM is an investor in communities throughout North America and the largest commercial real estate owner in Hollywood. In 1998, CIM Group identified Hollywood as an emerging urban district that meets the firm’s strategic investment guidelines and is headquartered there. Since then, it has acquired and developed a portfolio of properties that include office, retail, hotel and multifamily residential properties.
Under the new contract with the Academy, the Dolby Theatre will host the Academy Awards through 2033. The Dolby Theatre features 3,400 seats on four levels and 20 opera boxes, one of the largest stages in the United States with state-of-the-art infrastructure designed for a variety of programming including live broadcast.
“The Academy’s Board of Governors believes that the home for our awards is in Hollywood. It is where the Academy and the motion picture industry are rooted,” said Tom Sherak, Academy President. “We are pleased to have a new agreement with CIM that will continue our longstanding partnership.”

Jessica Simpson has reportedly given birth to daughter

HollywoodNews.com: It looks like Jessica Simpson’s family has just gotten a little bigger as it is reported that she has given birth to her first child and daughter with fiance Eric Johnson.
Simpson reportedly gave birth on Tuesday morning with the happy parents allegedly naming the girl Maxwell Drew Johnson, states UsMagazine.com. The baby that everyone has been waiting for reportedly came in weighing 9 lbs. 13 ounces.
It is reported that Simpson’s family was spotted arriving at the hospital.

Beyonce talks primping before giving birth

HollywoodNews.com: Before Beyonce gave birth to her first daughter, Blue Ivy, she decided to take care of herself a little bit as her future days would be all about her child.
Beyonce recently admitted that she did a little primping before delivering her daughter in New York, states People. “I got my nails done, I got my feet done, had my hair done, and I had my little lip gloss,” Beyonce said about the moments before the delivery.
However, at the end of the day it seems it didn’t even matter: “I didn’t feel that I looked beautiful during birth, but who does? After being pumped with all those fluids and gaining so much weight … I barely recognized myself.”

Katy Perry sells New York home with Russell Brand

HollywoodNews.com: Katy Perry has reportedly sold her New York apartment that she purchased with Russell Brand during happier days.
Perry and Brand are in the middle of a divorce and seem to be getting rid of their joint assets in order to settle things, states UsMagazine.com. The Tribeca home was reportedly sold for $2.75 million which is allegedly close to what it was originally purchased for about a year and a half ago.
The two allegedly plan on not seeking money from the other in regard to spousal support as they want to keep the divorce amicable.

‘Housewives of NJ’ star explains her parenting decision

HollywoodNews.com: When ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Jacqueline Laurita decided to send her rebellious daughter, Ashlee Holmes, to Las Vegas to live with her brother, viewers weren’t necessarily sure that was the best idea.
However, Laurita is now explaining her parenting decision and standing behind the difficult choice, states UsMagazine.com. “She was learning a specific skill on the computer that only my sister-in-law could teach her,” Laurita said about why she sent her away.
And it seems the change felt necessary at that point: “We felt like we needed to take drastic measures to get her to wake up and go after her dreams.”

Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom explain break from show

HollywoodNews.com: It was recently announced that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom would be taking a break from filming their reality TV show, and now the stars are finally opening up about it.
The two recently explained that they are looking for some time off after filming shows back to back, states UsMagazine.com. “Lamar and I have chosen to take a break this summer. We’ve been on a whirlwind doing back-to-back shows, and we just want to take a little time off for Lamar to be with family time, kids, basketball, Olympics — you never know,” Khloe explained.
And just because there is a break, their show is not yet over: “We’ll take our time and we’ll get back to it when it’s time,” Lamar commented.

MTV Movie Awards nominees announced

HollywoodNews.com: The nominees for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards have been announced and it looks like ‘The Hunger Games’ just might score a few awards.
‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ ended up earning eight nominations each while the ever popular ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ only managed to get two nominations, states UsMagazine.com. All three will be competing for Movie of the Year.
However, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did manage to score a nomination for Best Kiss which will still have them pitted against ‘The Hunger Games’ as Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson were nominated for their lip lock.

Carrie Underwood talks staying grounded despite fame

HollywoodNews.com: Carrie Underwood may seem like a glamorous Hollywood star, but she insists that she is still the same woman she was before all the fame.
Underwood recently spoke with ‘Glamour’ magazine about how she maintains a grounded lifestyle with her hockey star husband Mike Fisher, states UsMagazine.com.
“[M]y husband came from a small town and hardworking parents like I did, and I don’t think we’ve lost the mind-set. We don’t have a bowling alley in our basement. We don’t have houses on the beach and one in New York and one in L.A. I drive a three-year-old Ford Escape Hybrid. We don’t care about stuff like that,” Underwood explained.
Instead, the two are focused on just working – so much so that they sometimes go weeks without seeing each other due to so much traveling.

Kris Jenner allegedly not happy with Khloe Kardashian’s decision

HollywoodNews.com: There may be some trouble in the Kardashian household as it is rumored that Kris Jenner is not too happy about Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s decision to not continue their spin-off show.
Lamar reportedly wanted to quit the show to focus once again on his basketball career as he has been struggling as of late, states RadarOnline.com. But, considering the show has done well, Kris is apparently not too happy.
She allegedly thought viewers would relate even more if they could see the two struggle with his career, but Khloe reportedly wanted to stand by her husband and do what was best for him.
