The Master by Paul Thomas Anderson: The verdict is in “brilliant”

by: Joey Magidson

HollywoodNews.com: Last night, a lucky group of audience members in Santa Monica were treated by none other than Paul Thomas Anderson himself to being the first to see his latest film ‘The Master’.

It came after a screening of ‘The Shining’ and was in 70mm, no less. Sites like The Playlist have collected some of the early words on the flick, and suffice to say that they’re through the roof for pretty much all involved. After the jump you can see some of the first reactions that hit the web, and take not that they’re not from my colleagues in the business but just film lovers who were in the right place at the right time. That makes this very interesting in my eyes.

Here’s some of the responses from Twitter:

“Possibly the best film watching experience I’ve ever had. #THEMASTER70MM”

“Just saw ‘The Master’. A movie has never made me feel quite like this one did. I can’t describe it or even rate it. I am speechless.”

“The Social Network” producer Dana Brunetti’s assistant) “The Master was amazing. Oscars all over this one.”

“Hoffman is one of the finest actors alive. The Master is (more) proof. #themaster”

“Saw The Master in 70mm at the Aero Santa Monica. Surprise screening after The Shining. Its like nothing yvever seen before.”
