Hollywood Film Awards: Saoirse Ronan to receive the New Hollywood Award for “Brooklyn”

brooklyn saoirse ronan
One of the biggest contenders for Best Actress at the Academy Awards this year is Saoirse Ronan for her performance in Brooklyn. Helping her make the case for an Oscar in a big way is the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards, which will be honoring her with the New Hollywood Award. This is a very prestigious citation, one that will surely help her in the Actress race with Academy voters. She’s outstanding in Brooklyn and has been impressing for years already, so Ronan very much deserves this honor. With the precursor season basically upon us, I strongly suspect that it won’t be the only one that she receives before Oscar nominations are announced…

Here’s part of the press release once again announcing this honor:

dick clark productions announced today that Academy Award-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan will receive the “New Hollywood Award” for Brooklyn. The “19th Annual Hollywood Film Awards” will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, on November 1, 2015. The Hollywood Film Awards, the official launch of the awards season®, has recognized excellence in the art of cinema and filmmaking for 18 years, honoring some of the world’s biggest stars. Honorees have gone on to garner many Oscar nominations and wins.

“New Hollywood Award” recipient Saoirse Ronan will be recognized this year for her performance in Fox Searchlight’s “Brooklyn.” Ronan portrays a young woman in the 1950’s, choosing her fate between her home country or a new life.
