“Ant-Man and the Wasp” drops a New Trailer to tease Marvel’s next adventure

HOLLYWOOD HEROES™: Yesterday, hot on the heels of Avengers: Infinity War setting the record for best ever opening weekend at the box office, Marvel has released a new Trailer for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe go around. Yes, before we get back to what the Avengers (or at least the ones who are left) happen to be up to, we’re going to check in with Ant-Man. This sequel, titled Ant-Man and the Wasp, aims to be a palate cleanser of sorts. We just saw a dark clash with Thanos, and that result remains to be seen, but for now, we have a lighter and more fun adventure coming our way. You can see the Trailer at the end of the post, so be sure to read through and see it at the bottom. First though, a quick bit of discussion…

The film is, of course, the latest MCU outing, one that seems to take place before the most recent blockbuster that hit last week. Walt Disney Studios describes the plot on IMDb as such: “In the aftermath of ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to re-balance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.” In short, it looks like more fun is in store for Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), this time not just alongside Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), but also with Hope van Dyne/The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) as well. Peyton Reed once again directs, with the script being written by the team of Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Chris McKenna, the aforementioned Rudd, and Erik Sommers. Also in the cast here we have Laurence Fishburne, Abby Ryder Fortson, Walton Goggins, Judy Greer, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park, Michael Peña, Michelle Pfeiffer, T.I., and more. Dante Spinotti provides the cinematography, while the score is by Christophe Beck. With a ton of returning players, this has more continuity behind the scenes than most Marvel efforts.

Obviously, this Trailer wasn’t going to tell you what’s next for the Avengers. This actually does seem like a really great palate cleanser. As mentioned in Avengers: Infinity War, Scott Lang/Ant-Man sat things out because of his family. Here, he’s back in action, still a somewhat reluctant hero. The quirk with Scott is that he’s not reluctant anymore because he’s a thief, but more because he’s apparently not a great hero. In this adventure, The Wasp is much more of the effective hero than Ant-Man, creating a fun new dynamic. Obviously, with this being the MCU, the larger story will be advanced in some way, but this feels like more of a one off than most.

You can see the Ant-Man and the Wasp Trailer next, which is yet another MCU endeavor to look forward to. It’s about two months away, giving Avengers: Infinity War some time to breathe. Suffice to say, July has a blockbuster to look forward to with this one. It’ll actually be interesting to see how not just Avengers: Infinity War is doing financially at that point, but if Black Panther is still in theaters too. Marvel is stronger than ever, with no signs of slowing down. Anyway, take a look at the Trailer and sit tight for more on this latest adventure…
