Updated Academy Award predictions for early October

Now that we’re firmly into October, it’s around the time to increase the frequency of these Oscar predictions. So, this won’t quite be a weekly thing yet, but we’re upping it from twice a month to probably three times. It only seems right, considering how much changes at this point in the season. The fall festival season is in full swing, and almost over, frankly. That will lead into the first precursor awards being given out, including the Hollywood Film Awards on November 4th. Soon, we’ll start to know which contenders have a leg up, and which decidedly do not. As such, updated predictions are necessary!

Having just seen A Star Is Born a few days ago, as well as Roma today, this is a pretty up to date look at the race. At the moment, it still appears like A Star Is Born has a huge night ahead of it. Nothing is decided yet, obviously, though if it posts big box office numbers, that can only help. Vice revealing a Trailer kept it very much in the thick of things, especially for Christian Bale. Aside from that, we’ll just be waiting on AFI Fest to let us know if Mary Queen of Scots and/or On the Basis of Sex are things. Sit tight…
