Hugh Grant aboard animated “Pirates!” pic for Sony

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Johnny Depp is an American actor living in France who affects a British accent to play a pirate on screen. Hugh Grant, on the other hand, is a British actor who has had great success in the States and will conjure an as-yet-unheard accent to voice the lead character in an animated pirate movie.
See the difference?
Sony announced today that Grant, who has not been seen on screen since 2009’s “Did You Hear About the Morgans?,” will lend his voice to the studio’s “The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists,” a stop-motion 3D animated film from the geniuses at Aardman Animations.
Such a strange title, but what a wonderful cast. In addition to Grant, “Pirates” has recruited David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Jeremy Piven, Salma Hayek, Brian Blessed, Brendan Gleeson, and Ashley Jensen, according to THR.
“I’m so grateful to the entire cast for their talent and energy. Only Hugh could anchor this story of love, loyalty, greed, and nautical high-jinks,” said director Peter Lord.
Columbia Pictures plans to release the animated film next March.

Robert Pattinson wishes someone would call him to hang out

HollywoodNews.com: Robert Pattinson is starting to really feel the affects of fame and working all the time as he is no longer getting called up to hang out.
Pattinson recently revealed that when he has time off, no one really calls him to do anything, states Hollyscoop. “When I’m not working, I’m one of those people who calls up their entire phone book to say, ‘Hey, what are you doing? Are you doing anything tonight? Can I go with you?’” Pattinson admitted.
Unfortunately for the ‘Twilight’ actor, it sounds like not everyone wants to deal with his necessary security and intense fanbase.
Do you think it’d be hard to be that famous?

“Bones” back next season, David Boreanaz tweets

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: David Boreanaz is an actor. Most know him from the hit FOX program “Bones,” though a smaller portion of us fans will always associate him with his role of Angel on the beloved “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and its spinoff program, “Angel.”
Boreanaz also is a hockey fan – a die-hard Philadelphia Flyers fan – and those who follow him on Twitter got a double dose of both his passions Monday night. That’s when, during a Flyers playoff game, Boreanaz tweeted that his hit show, “Bones,” would be back for another season.
“OT! Orange and Black craziness! Oh, Season 7 is GO for Bones,” he wrote.
So brief. So subtle. So very cool.
Now that we know “Bones” is returning, we wonder how the show will habndle co-star Emily Deschanel’s recent pregnancy. Showrunner Hart Hanson said to THR recently that they’d consider “a host of potential options, including a shorter season or a collection of episodes that don’t feature Deschanel.”

Robert Pattinson has hopes of doing a London play

HollywoodNews.com: Robert Pattinson has already made a huge impression in films with the ‘Twilight’ franchise, but it seems he now has his eyes set on something a little more classic.
Pattinson recently admitted to ‘Elle UK’ that he would like to be in a London play one day, states Just Jared. However, the actor does have some reservations with that plan.
“I’d just be afraid it would turn into an ‘NSync concert. Or people would come along expecting it to be something like ‘Twilight,’” Pattinson admitted.
He also revealed that he doesn’t know that he could handle the exhaustion that comes with the crowd at a play pulling for you and the show to succeed.
Do you think Robert Pattinson should do some stage work?

Peter Jackson makes “Hobbit” casting news on Facebook

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Following the sudden departure of Robert Kazinski from the set of “The Hobbit, it became clear that Peter Jackson would need to find a dwarf Fili.
Turns out, that’s not the only casting news coming from Jackson’s camp.
Using Facebook to make the announcement, Jackson revealed that New Zealand actor Dean O’Gorman will now be playing Fili. In addition, actor Lee Pace has been added to the ensemble.
From Jackson’s Facebook page:
Dean O’Gorman will be playing Fili. Dean’s a terrific Kiwi actor, who I am thrilled to be working with. He’s recently been in an excellent TV series down here called “The Almighty Johnsons”, and I should let fans of that show know that our shooting schedule allows Dean to continue with a second series next year. Dean will be joining us next week.
I’m also pleased to announce that Lee Pace will be playing the Elven King Thranduil. Casting these Tolkien stories is very difficult, especially the Elven characters, and Lee has always been our first choice for Thranduil. He’s going to be great. We loved his performance in a movie called “The Fall” a few years ago, and have been hoping to work with him since. When we were first discussing who would be right for Thranduil, Lee came into mind almost immediately.
It’s been a great week, and I’m looking forward to the next few. It’s going to be interesting…
More soon.
Cheers,
Peter
Jackson’s “The Hobbit” currently is being filmed in New Zealand, targeting a Dec. 19, 2012 release date for part one.

Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari in “30 Minutes” trailer

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Jesse Eisenberg had a coming out party last year, storming people’s radars by playing Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s meticulous “The Social Network.” And while Eisenberg lent his voice to a neurotic blue bird in the hit animated comedy “Rio,” most of us are still anxious to see what he does next as an actor.

The answer is “30 Minutes or Less,” an action comedy co-starring Danny McBride an “Parks and Rec” standout Aziz Ansari in the story of two criminals who force a pizza delivery kid (Eisenberg) to rob a bank within 30 minutes.
“Less” is directed by Eisenberg’s “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer. It’s due out in August, but we’re getting our first look at its trailer today.

Robert Pattinson prefers promoting ‘Elephants’ over ‘Twilight’

HollywoodNews.com: Robert Pattinson may have dedicated many years to ‘Twilight,’ but it seems that all the moments with the film franchise weren’t happy ones.
The actor recently revealed that he has been having a better time promoting ‘Water for Elephants’ than he has with ‘Twilight,’ states OnTheRedCarpet.com. When he was asked if he liked the publicity better for the new film, he confirmed he did.
“It’s nice to know, you know sometimes when you’re doing franchise movies it feels like the publicity is more important to the company than making the actual movie,” Pattinson revealed about things with ‘Twilight.’
Do you think promoting a film like ‘Twilight’ would be hard?
