Julia Roberts, Christy Turlington ads get blasted in the U.K.

By Kim Palacios
hollywoodnews.com: Maybelline and Lancôme ads have been banned by a regulating body the U.K. that says excessive airbrushing of models Christy Turlington and Julia Roberts misrepresented the advertised products. According to the Advertising Standards Authority(ASA), both ads overstate any reasonable ability the L’Oreal products might have to yield results for those who use them.
Of the Julia Roberts ad, the ASA stated: “On the basis of the evidence we had received we could not conclude that the ad image accurately illustrated what effect the product could achieve, and that the image had not been exaggerated by digital post production techniques.”
Figures including Parliament member Jo Swinson have criticized excessive airbrushing, saying that it promotes an unrealistic and harmful standard of female beauty. Early public reaction seemed to agree that the photos were unrealistic—the ads show flawless, youthful skin; yet Turlington and Roberts (though generally thought to be quite beautiful) are 42 and 43, respectively.

Lindsay Lohan says profane manicure was a “joke”

HollywoodNews.com: Lindsay Lohan really doesn’t take any precautionary measures when she jumps into things. She arrived at court yesterday and was sentenced to 90 days in prison followed by 90 days in an in-patient rehab program.
While she was sobbing during the sentence, an AP photographer caught a picture of her middle fingernail that had the message “F*** U.” However, Lohan has taken to her twitter account to post the following message: “@liana_levi didn’t we do our nails as a joke with our friend dc? it had nothing to do w/court.. it’s an airbrush design from a stencil xx.”
Lohan’s attorney has not made any comment on the issue, but from Lohan’s track record, we can’t help but wonder.
