HollywoodNews.com: Natalie Portman is apparently ready to take on a new challenge as she is reportedly going to be an executive producer for a new TV show.

She is reportedly attached as an executive producer for a show based on a 1978 novel by Judith Krantz called ‘Scruples’ that has been picked up by ABC, states Hollyscoop. The show is a one-hour drama that is described as a “sexy soap.”

The plot is reportedly about a socialite whose husband passes away which leads her into opening a boutique in Beverly Hills.

HollywoodNews.com: David Arquette is apparently on great terms with his ex, Courteney Cox, as he will be guest starring on her ABC show ‘Cougar Town.’

He will allegedly be a part of the Season 3 finale as the network has confirmed along with his own confirmation over Twitter, states UsMagazine.com. “Can’t wait to work with you ladies!” Arquette tweeted to Cox and Christa Miller.

He will reportedly be playing a hotel concierge who will be around to help Cox’s character with all her needs.

HollywoodNews.com: In anticipation of the 84th Academy Awards®, the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences has launched “Celebrate the Movies,” a digital exhibition spotlighting iconic moments from 84 films.

Beginning today, January 23, the exhibition will appear on digital billboards in Los Angeles, and on ABC’s digital “SuperSign,” an electronic landmark in New York’s Times Square. It will also be showcased on an online gallery on Oscar.com, and extend to youtube.com/Oscars, where fans can share their most memorable movie-going experiences through video or text.

Images will debut in groups of 20 within the next two weeks. The 84 films represented span eight decades, beginning with “Bride of Frankenstein” (1935) and culminating in “Avatar” (2009). Highlights from each decade include “Gone with the Wind” (1939), “Casablanca” (1942), “The Killers” (1946), “Sunset Boulevard” (1950), “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961), “True Grit” (1969), “The Exorcist” (1973), “Saturday Night Fever” (1977), “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), “Driving Miss Daisy” (1989), “Apollo 13″ (1995), “Shrek” (2001), “Ray” (2004), and “The Dark Knight” (2008). The exhibition highlights all of Hollywood’s major genres, as well as independent, animated, foreign-language, and documentary films.

Included in the first 20 images are the eight that were featured in the key art campaign, which was unveiled in late December.

The 84th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 24, at 5:30 a.m. PST in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar® presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.

The group’s Dorian Award winners this time include two big victories for the bold gay romance “Weekend” (for Film of the Year as well as LGBT Film of the Year).

Meryl Streep earned Film Performance of the Year for her uncanny turn as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the biopic “The Iron Lady,” while Michael Fassbender nabbed the We’re Wilde About You Rising Star of the Year honor for his daring performance as a sex addict in “Shame.”

In the more unusual film categories, the comic drama “50/50,” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a young man diagnosed with cancer, was named Unsung Film of the Year, and “The Muppets” took Campy (Intentional or Not) Film of the Year.

On the TV side, the FX network’s wild ghosts tale “American Horror Story” was deemed TV Drama of the Year. The chiller’s star, Jessica Lange, won TV Performance of the Year for her portrayal as a faded actress with a link to the Other Side.

The ABC sitcom “Modern Family” won for both TV Comedy of the Year and LGBT-themed TV Show of the Year, while Fox’s still-popular “Glee” and the HBO concert special “Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour” tied for TV Musical Program of the Year. Campy TV Show of the Year honors went to ABC’s buzz-blessed primetime soap “Revenge,” and the Unsung TV Show title was given to the network’s scrappy family comedy “Suburgatory.”

HollywoodNews.com: TV viewer appetite for fantasy and horror has to be at an all-time high, considering the massive successes of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” Fox’s “American Horror Story” and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” in 2011 — even NBC’s “Grimm” has been a brighter spot on the beleaguered network’s fall schedule. Add those shows to such ongoing hits as AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” HBO’s “True Blood,” the CW’s “Vampire Diaries” and it’s obvious, other-worldliness is in. With the midseason upon us, there is more supernatural stuff on the way.

Come January 16, there’s the highly-anticipated premiere of J.J. Abrams’ time-travel prison strangeness drama, “Alcatraz” on Fox, complete with “Lost’s” Jorge Garcia as a comic book enthusiast/expert on San Francisco’s notorious island lockup. The same night, Syfy unveils “Lost Girl,” which we’re pretty sure must be the first ongoing series about a succubus (female demon who takes human form in order to drain the souls of men by having sex with them).

Fox’s upcoming “Touch,” stars Keifer Sutherland as the widowed father of a mute 11-year-old son who communicates only through numbers and can see things no one else can. NBC’s “Awake” stars Jason Isaacs as a man shifting between two alternate realities — one in which his son was killed in an automobile accident, while his wife survived it, the other in which his wife was killed and his son survived. ABC’s “The River” starring Bruce Greenwood boasts Oren Peli as exec producer; he’s the creative mind behind the “Paranormal Activity” films. “The River” also relies on video camera realism, only this time, it’s out in the Amazon jungle, where a famous wildlife expert has gone missing and his family is on a search for him. Things get very scary out there.

Whether this proliferation of paranormality is all due to TV’s practice of rushing to copy itself when something succeeds, or has to do with the harsh shape of the real world these days — or both — there’s no sign of the trend abating in 2012.

For instance, among the current crop of shows in development that are already getting buzz: a reboot of “Frankenstein.”

HollywoodNews.com: ABC has been looking for someone to fill Regis Philbin’s spot on ‘Live with Kelly,’ and it seems they have their eyes on someone.

Rob Lowe recently guest co-hosted, and ABC is reportedly more than a little happy about how it went, states TMZ. Now, the show is reportedly talking to his reps about the gig, but there is one complication.

Lowe is already on ‘Parks and Recreation,’ so he is allegedly uncommitted to taking on this new job.

“Our members who judged this competition were impressed by the extraordinary images created by these individuals,” says ASC Awards Chairman Richard Crudo. “The contributions they made to telling a wide variety of stories – from period dramas to contemporary comedies – is undeniable.”

Freeman, Moxness and Stockton have won ASC Awards. Freeman took home awards for Boardwalk Empire (2011) and Homeland Security in (2005), and earned additional nominations for Boardwalk Empire (2011), Taken (2003), Strange Justice (2000) and Prince Street (1998). Moxness won for this work on Smallville (2007). Stockton earned his ASC Award for Eleventh Hour in 2009, and a nomination for Nikita (2011).

This is the fifth ASC nomination for Franco who was previously nominated for Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2008), Intensity (1998), Falling for You (1996), and Million Dollar Babies (1995).

Bagdonas has three prior nominations for photographing Chicago Hope (1997, 1998) and Hunter (1990).

Collecting their second nominations are Lachman (Far From Heaven, 2003) and Weaver (Pushing Daisies, 2008). The remaining nominees revel in their first nomination.

HBO shows lead the pack with four nominations, followed by PBS and ABC with three, and Showtime with two. The Hub and ReelzChannel claimed one each.

“Narrowing down the field to these nominees was a tough task given the tremendous quality of work being done,” says ASC President Michael Goi. “Innovation and technology has raised the bar for television viewers, and these nominees’ imagery more than meets a new standard.”

All 2012 Producers Guild Award winners will be announced on January 21, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This year, the Producers Guild will also award special honors to Steven Spielberg, Leslie Moonves, Don Mischer, and Stan Lee, among others. The 2012 Producers Guild Awards co-chairs are Paula Wagner and Michael Manheim.

In 1990 the PGA held the first-ever Golden Laurel Awards, which were renamed the Producers Guild Awards in 2002. Richard Zanuck and Lili Fini Zanuck took home the award for Best Produced Motion Picture for DRIVING MISS DAISY, establishing the Guild’s awards as a bellwether for the Oscars. Last year, the PGA awarded THE KING’S SPEECH with its Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures, marking the fourth consecutive year the Producers Guild has presaged The Academy of Motion Picture’s choice.

HollywoodNews.com: Regis Philbin is calling it a day on his ABC morning show, ‘Live with Regis and Kelly.’

Today is his final day on the show as he announced his plans to leave earlier this year, states RadarOnline.com. “It’s been 28 years and it was the biggest thrill of my life to come back to New York, where I grew up as a kid watching TV in the early days, you know, never even dreaming that I would one day have the ability, or whatever it takes, to get in front of the camera and talk to it,” Philbin said about the experience over the years.

It was rumored that he left the show over contractual issues.

HollywoodNews.com: The time has finally come where the finalists of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ have been revealed.

On last night’s show, one more contestant was sent home leaving the final three behind, states RadarOnline.com. Hope Solo, who had the lowest judge score as well, was sent packing.

Now, Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez and Rob Kardashian will compete in the final for the mirror ball trophy.

The finals will begin next Monday night on ABC.
