HollywoodNews.com: The band No Doubt is busier than ever.

After embarking on a successful reunion tour last year, the ska-influenced ‘90s group jumped back into the recording studio to jam out a new album. So much for those break-up rumors.

The band’s bassist and songwriter Tony Kanal exclaimed his joy over the band’s creative process in an interview with Billboard.

“I swear, we’re having more fun than we’ve ever had writing a record before,” he said.

Since the band emerged in 1992, they churned out five albums. The current CD they’re working on will be their first since 2001’s “Rock Steady.”

“I think [because] it’s been a while, but also because we’re older… the fact that we’re still doing it together after 24 years – you know, working on music – I think we really appreciate that,” said Kanal who also promised another tour to support the record.

“I think it’ll be even bigger, and when I say bigger, I mean more shows and around the world,” added the bassist.

HollywoodNews.com: Kings of Leon stepped out on stage for their show in St. Louis and didn’t expect what was coming at them.

Three songs into the set, the band’s bassist, Jared Followill, “was hit several times during the first two songs,” reports CNN. Vector Management’s Andy Mendelsohn added, “It’s not only disgusting – it’s a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there.”

Followill said, “I was hit by pigeons on each of the first three songs. We had 20 songs on the set list. By the end of the show, I would have been covered from head to toe.”

After the band cancelled the show they issued a statement to the fans saying, “We want to apologize to our fans in St. Louis and will come back as soon as we can.”

HollywoodNews.com: ‘Fall Out Boy’ star Pete Wentz and wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s son may only be 20-month-old but already he is speaking two languages.

The couple admitted that their child, Bronx Mowgli, is starting to speak parts of another language. Pete, 31, told Eonline.com: “He’s speaking some Spanish! He’s started saying, ‘Sí.’ I always ask him stuff, and he’ll be like, ‘Sí.”

But Wentz, who married Simpson in 2008, admits that he doesn’t get it from him. He said: “I speak pretty bad Spanish but we have this fantastic nanny and she speaks Spanish to him. I think it’s really important to be global.”

The bassist also revealed that he likes TV show ‘True Blood.’

He said: “Ashlee’s the one who got me into it. It’s a really great show.” But Pete added that maybe Ashlee, 25, only likes it because there are a lot of good-looking guys in it.

“The Runaways”
Strangely polished considering its grungy subject matter, Floria Sigismondi’s “The Runaways” sticks to the established rules of music-biopic moviemaking as it records the rise and fall of The Runaways, an unpolished, rule-breaking, female punk band that helped launch eventual rock superstars Joan Jett and Lita Ford into the stratosphere. The movie makes its way to DVD this week.

The music is almost secondary in “Runaways,” however, save for the band’s most recognizable hit, “Cherry Bomb.” (Which, according to Sigismondi, took 5 minutes to write, robbing the song of any mystique it might have enjoyed.) The movie’s far more interested in the amorous, taboo relationship shared between Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) – a fact that can be attributed to Sigismondi’s decision to rely on Currie’s book, “Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway,” as inspiration. With Jett and Currie out front, “Runaways” overlooks, or flat-out ignores, band members Ford (Scout Taylor-Compton), drummer Sandy West (Stella Maeve) and a bassist identified as Robin (Alia Shawkat of “Whip It” and “Arrested Development”), even though it was Micki Steele, Peggy Foster and Jackie Fox who were credited members of the band.

Details aren’t as important to “Runaways” as mood, and Sigismondi’s cast wraps their fists around the rebellion and resistance that fuelled the manufactured garage band. Pieced together in the mid-1970s, The Runaways acted as a chainsaw slicing through the indulgent glam of David Bowie, Queen, Roxy Music and Suzi Quatro. They were a refreshing blast of grrrr-ly girl power, but their fierce independence gradually tore them apart from within.

Stewart’s the right choice to play Jett, as both artists come across as social misfits visibly uncomfortable when the spotlight shines in their direction. The more Stewart shrinks inward – slumping her shoulders and cowering from our attentions, as is her tendency as a performer – the more it feeds Jett’s internal urge to express herself musically.

Fanning, meanwhile, shows remarkable maturity as Currie, bear hugging the singer’s sexuality without exploiting it for cheap thrills. “Runaways” uses Currie’s tragic story as an example (albeit an overly familiar one) or how the showbiz machinery chews up and spit out the weak. Unfortunately, we still associate 16-year-old Fanning with her precocious child-actor roles, and will struggle – temporarily – to separate that persona from her latest parts. But strong performances like the one she gives here will only speed up Fanning’s process of establishing herself as an adult actress capable of any and all subject matters.

The one person who doesn’t need any help solidifying his presence as an actor to watch is Michael Shannon, who continues to exist in a universe to separate from the actors with who he shares a scene. Remember Shannon eviscerating Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s superficial suburban couple in “Revolutionary Road?” Well, as famed music producer Kim Fowley, Shannon takes that manic identity and cranks it to 11. “Runaways” ends up being a suitable title, for whenever Shannon’s on screen, he runs away with the whole production.

The “Runaways” DVD, released by Sony, comes with a handful of features, making for a rewarding disc. Jett joins Stewart and Fanning for a commentary track, while the rocker also coaches the actresses in the “Making of” clip titled “Plugged In.” A Thurd feature, “The Runaways,” touches on the history of the band, but seems redundant after you’ve seen the film. At least the real Cherie Curie pops by to provide her insights into the band’s backstory, as well as the film.

hollywoodnews.com: British band Muse’s bassist felt he was “selling his soul” by recording the theme tune for new movie Eclipse. Chris Wolstenholme, 31, said he isn’t a fan of the vampire movie series despite recording Neutral Star Collision for the film.

According to MTV, he said he “quite enjoyed” the first film Twilight but hadn’t seen the others. He added: “I’m not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things but sometimes you’ve just got to get your music out there in different ways… “You have to take every opportunity you get and sometimes you have to sell your soul.”

HollywoodNews.com: Incubus’ frontman Brandon Boyd has accomplished a handful of awards with his band, but now the singer is going out on a solo effort. He is happy to announce the release of his first solo album, “The Wild Trapeze,” which hits shelves today.

“This group of songs was born of a very different process than the many my band and I have been employing for our almost two decades at work now. The Wild Trapeze began as pot induced meanderings on my dusty acoustic guitar while Incubus was off of the road, and has slowly been morphing into things that I originally could never have imagined,” says Brandon Boyd. “So much of my identity, both personally and creatively has been attached to and related to Incubus. For better or worse! And I do believe that every person in every corner of the world asks themselves at some point on their ride, ‘Who am I … today?’ The Wild Trapeze is an exercise in self reliance.”

In keeping with Brandon’s vision to make this album his very own and what Brandon calls “Music for Music’s Sake”, he controlled the making of The Wild Trapeze. Brandon penned every track off the album and performed practically every instrument heard. He designed the album’s artwork and co-directed the video for track, “Runaway Train” (available at music.AOL.com today) with esteemed photographer Brantley Gutierrez. When it came to producing the album, Brandon could think of no one better suited for the task than renowned producer, Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips) and set forth to record the album in Upstate NY over the past few months.

Up next for Brandon Boyd, another Incubus studio album. The quintet that is Incubus (vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, bassist Ben Kenney, DJ Chris Kilmore and drummer Jose Pasillas) will head back into the studio later this summer to begin writing and recording a new studio album, tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.

HollywoodNews.com: Madina Lake’s bassist, Matthew Leone, suffered a tragic beating that left him unconscious less than a week ago. As he was walking to meet his friend at a bar he tried to break up a man severely beating his wife and in turn was left on the street to die. He was taken to the hospital where he had a third of his skull removed to relieve the swelling in his brain.

His brother Nathan posted an update on his blog that reads:

so we’d finally convinced the doctors to let me take matthew home. he was going nuts in the hospital and they agreed that he would benefit from a more comfortable environment. the only goal at this point is get him strong enough for his 2nd brain surgery which is scheduled for the 16th. it’s going to be a tenuous couple of weeks, we’ll watch him 24 hrs a day, make sure he sits still, rests and heals to the fullest extent possible. we know from the doctors that his future prognosis remains guarded since the permanency of the physical and neuropsychological damage is yet unknown .

otherwise, i’ve learned more about humanity in the past 6 days than I had my entire life. Sometimes it’s easy to get down on the world, people, life, life-situation, yourself, whatever.. especially when something like this happens. But the overwhelming reaction we’ve gotten from the community that has rallied around Matthew has proven how lucky we are to have all of you in our lives. Aside from the calls, texts, emails, gifts and well wishes, we’ve heard of groups/organizations being created to bring awareness to domestic violence, violence against women and violence in general.. there are benefits being put together, auctions, special events, donation inquiries, etc. it’s truly extraordinary,.. thank you. You guys keep up the positive energy and i swear i’ll do everything in my power to get him back to 100% ASAP. you’ll never know how grateful we are… all the love in the world

Barenaked Ladies are giving fans a sneak peak look into the behind the scenes of their music video for “You Run Away.” The video will debut within the next few weeks, but until then they has posted some pictures from the shoot on their website. The photos feature drummer Tyler Stewart as a janitor, keyboardist Kevin Hearn in a 19th century coat and bassist Jim Creeggan in a bicycle accident.

“You Run Away” is the first single off their latest album, “All In Good Time,” which will hit the stores on March 23 in Canada and March 30th in the U.S.
