Betty White on why gays love her

HollywoodNews.com: The bigger-than-ever superstar Betty White, 89, recently shared with Frontiers IN LA the reason why she thinks the LGBT community embraces and loves her so much:
“Throughout my career, I’ve always portrayed characters that were humorous, but also weren’t afraid to speak their minds, especially when it came to racy or controversial topics. I think this struck a cord with the LGBT community. We both also share a strong love of animals. When you combine the two, it’s a very strong match.”

Mary Tyler Moore gets SAG Lifetime Achievement Award

HollywoodNews.com: Everyone loves Mary Tyler Moore, so it’s no shock: the beloved TV star will receive the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award this January. Mary, of course, has many Emmy awards and nominations for her own show and of course “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” and a 1981 Oscar nomination for “Ordinary People.” (She lost to Sissy Spacek, for “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”) It’s great that Mary’s getting the SAG award, although I did think that this award was more for character actors, long time vets who’d never actually gotten an award. …Other awards news from yesterday: Warren Beatty is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award from BAFTA/LA on November 30th. Warren is getting ready to launch his Howard Hughes movie, and is allegedly casting it now. One of Hollywood’s smartest guys, Beatty has an Oscar for Best Director of “Reds,” and many other accolades…

Scarlett Johansson won’t be attending Marine Corps Ball

HollywoodNews.com: Unfortunately, unlike Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, Scarlett Johansson won’t be able to attend the Marine Corps Ball.
Johansson received an invitation from Sgt. Dustin L. Williams, but her schedule will allegedly keep her from going, states Hollyscoop. “[U]nfortunately due to prior commitments I will not be able to attend the Ball with you this year but I am sending you a case of Moet and Chandon with gratitude,” the actress commented in a statement.
Betty White also recently turned down an invite due to a prior commitment as well.
