Russell Brand documentary details drug past

HollywoodNews.com: The new BBC TV documentary ‘Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery’ will show fans of the actor and comedienne a different and darker side than they might be used to.
The documentary will reportedly have real-life footage of Brand when he was in his 20s and addicted to drugs, states RadarOnline. And footage of Brand seeing the past makes it very clear how strong his drug addiction is now.
“This is when you know it’s a disease. It doesn’t matter that I was sat in that flat in Hackney and now I’m in the Savoy. I’m jealous of me then,” Brand comments while watching the footage.
Brand has been clean for ten years, but it is apparently a very hard struggle: “It doesn’t make a difference to me. The money, the fame, the power, the sex, the women – none of it. I’d rather be a drug addict.”

Jennifer Aniston has her film career dissed

HollywoodNews.com: Jennifer Aniston may be considered an A-list celebrity, but not everyone thinks that she deserves to be at the top based on her so-so career.
Rupert Everett was talking with BBC Radio 4 when he took a small jab at the actress, states UsMagazine.com. “Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she’s still a member of that club … things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com,” Everett said about her forever being a star.
Considering Aniston’s last few flicks barely drew in viewers, the actor may have a point.

Sir Ian McKellen on the prominence of anti-gay bullying

By Greg Hernandez
HollywoodNews.com: Nice to see Sir Ian McKellen continuing to work to educate people about homophobic bullying in schools.
The ‘Lord of the Rings,’ ‘X-Men’ and ‘Gods and Monsters’ star visited a Harrogate’s Rossett School in the UK in an event organized by Stonewall’s Education Champions Program which helps schools prevent and tackle homophobic bullying.
The actor co-founded Stonewall in response to Section 28 of the Local Government Act that legislated against what it considered the promotion of homosexuality within the education system.
Recent YouGov research for Stonewall found that nine in 10 teachers said their pupils currently experienced homophobic bullying, but nine in 10 had never received any training on how to tackle and prevent it.
Sir Ian said to the BBC: “Until I visited secondary schools recently, I hadn’t realized how much anti-gay bullying goes on, throughout the education system.”

Angelina Jolie blocked from filming her debut in Sarajevo

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut has hit a snag.
Bosnia’s culture minister, Gavrilo Grahovac, reportedly has blocked the A-list actress from filming in Sarajevo because a screenplay wasn’t attached to the permit application, according to the BBC. The story goes on to say that an association of Bosnian War female victims “objected” to the as-yet-untitled drama over its “alleged content.”
Jolie’s film, which she reportedly penned, looks at the way the war affects a young couple who is falling in love. She recently added Bosnian actress Zana Marjanovic for the lead role, and currently is filming in Hungary.
But the Women Victims of War association reportedly claimed that the movie could be responsible for “misleading history,” and when they voiced their complaints to Grahovac, he ultimately decided to cancel Jolie’s permits.
“They no longer have the authorization to shoot in Bosnia,” Grahovac said in a radio interview. “They will have it if they send us the scenario with a story which will be different from what we have been told by people who read it.”
Will Jolie rewrite? Or will she film elsewhere? We’ll bring you more details as they develop.
