Did Kim Kardashian underestimate price of wedding gifts?

HollywoodNews.com: Kim Kardashian recently donated money to charity instead of returning wedding gifts as her marriage with Kris Humphries fell apart. And while she claimed she donated over the price of the gifts, it sounds like she may be a bit off.
Humphries is reportedly arguing that she has lied about a few gifts as they allegedly received a $325,000 gift from a Malaysian businessman, states RadarOnline.com. However, she allegedly put that he gave them a $200 vase.
While Kardashian donated $200,000 for the gifts, it is rumored that their gifts actually totaled up closer to $700,000.
Humphries is now reportedly seeking proof of all this in order to deal with it in court.
Do you think Kim lied about prices?

Tom Cruise is one subject in Rob Lowe’s new book

By Greg Hernandez
HollywoodNews.com: It’s hard to believe that Rob Lowe, who looks so delicious on the cover of the new ‘Vanity Fair,’ has been a star for more than 25 years.
Now one of the stars of NBC’s ‘Parks and Recreation’ after successful runs on ‘Brothers & Sisters’ and ‘The West Wing,’ Rob came to fame in movies appearing in such hits as ‘Class,’ ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ and ‘About Last Night.’
One of his earlier films was ‘The Outsiders’ directed by Francis Ford Coppola with a cast that included Patrick Swayze, Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon and a guy named Tom Cruise.
Rob, now 46, has a memoir coming out next month called ‘Stories I Only Tell My Friends.’ A portion about Cruise during the filming of ‘Outsiders’ is in the magazine that is pretty revealing.
During the first round of auditions in Los Angeles, Lowe writes of meeting Cruise, then a houseguest of the Sheens: “He’s open, friendly, funny, and has an almost robotic, bloodless focus and an intensity that I’ve never encountered before.”
In New York for the second round of auditions, Lowe finds that Cruise is “already showing traits that will make him famous; he’s zeroed in like a laser.”
“We check into the Plaza Hotel. I am taken aback at the luxury and spectacle of the lobby…. The front desk tells us we will be sharing rooms,” Lowe writes of the actors’ arrival in the Big Apple. “In a flash, Cruise is on the phone to his agent, Paula Wagner. ‘Paula, they are making us share,’ he says…. The rest of us are staggering around like happy goofs….. ‘O.K., then. Thank you very much,’ he says like a 50-year-old businessman getting off the phone with his stockbroker. ‘Paula says it’s fine.’ ”

‘Burlesque’ released on DVD today

By Greg Hernandez
HollywoodNews.com: It may have been nominated for a few Razzies and didn’t break any box office records but I quite enjoyed ‘Burlesque’ which was Christina Aguilera’s film debut and Cher’s return to films after a far too long hiatus.
The flick is out on DVD today and you just know that I’ve got to own it.
It is destined to join such gay faves as ‘Steel Magnolias,’ ‘Beaches,’ and Cher’s ‘Mermaids’ as the kind of guilty pleasure you watch over and over again. It’s not that these movies are masterpieces, but they all star icons having one helluva time on screen.
‘Burlesque’ is Cher’s first starring role in ages and she plays the owner of a club on Sunset Boulevard called the Burlesque Lounge which is on its last legs. In walks a young girl from Ohio played by Christina Aguilera who can sing and dance like nobody’s business. But we won’t know that for awhile. She’s just serving drinks and hoping for a chance to audition to be one of the dancers at the club.
This is the perfect showcase for Aguilera’s film debut. She’s got the pipes to make you believe that once she gets to perform, she’s such a sensation that attendance soars and she is the toast of the town.
She and Cher have some good scenes together with the best being when Cher teaches the younger diva how to put on make-up.
The rest of the cast is filled with talented folks led by Stanley Tucci who plays Cher’s gay best friend and right hand man. It’s a fun chemistry Cher and Tucci share and I love that we get to see his character pick up a really cute guy at a wedding and bring him home.
Alan Cumming plays an employee at the club who does some performing but this talented man, a Tony winner for Cabaret, is woefully underused in this film. Peter Gallagher plays Cher’s ex-husband and business partner and it’s always nice to see this handsome guy in anything. Speaking of handsome, Eric Dane is also in the movie looking very McSteamy as a businessman with an eye for Aguilera and on Cher’s club.
The main male character is a bartender (and songwriter) played by Cam Gigandent who becomes Aguilera’s roommate and eventually her love interest. He is very, very sexy in this film!
Also noteworthy is Kristen Bell as a boozy bad girl dancer seriously jealous of [...]

Uma Thurman’s stalker back in true stalker form

HollywoodNews.com: Uma Thurman’s stalker has allegedly struck again and is repeatedly trying to contact her after being released from jail.
Jack Jordan was convicted in 2008 of stalking and harassing the ‘Kill Bill’ star and spent four months in jail. Any contact with the actress would break an order of protection – but according to police sources he has struck again.
Jordan is said by law enforcement sources to have called her office and spoken to her assistant on Friday night, according to the New York Post. The next day, he allegedly called Thurman’s personal mobile phone, which her assistant also answered. In the calls, Jordan allegedly said her businessman boyfriend, Arpad Busson, was ‘not good enough’ – and insisted the star ‘should marry me.’
New York City Department of Probation spokesman Ryan Dodge said they were “investigating and will take appropriate action”. Thurman’s spokesperson did not return calls for comment.

Luke Wilson’s ‘Middle Men’ releases new trailer

HollywoodNews.com: Luke Wilson’s new film, “Middle Men,” has just released a new trailer. The film is directed by George Gallo and also stars Giovanni Ribisi, Gabriel Macht, Jacinda Barrett, James Caan, Terry Crews, Laura Ramsey, Rade Sherbedgia, Kevin Pollak, Graham McTavish, and Kelsey Grammer.
In 1995, everyone had a VCR, music was sold in record stores, and the world-wide-web was a new found discovery. Businessman Jack Harris (Luke Wilson) had the perfect life – a beautiful family and a successful career fixing problem companies. Then he met Wayne Beering (Giovanni Ribisi) and Buck Dolby (Gabriel Macht), two genius but troubled men, who had invented the way adult entertainment is sold over the internet. When Jack agrees to help steer their business, he soon finds himself caught between a 23 year-old porn star and the FBI all the while becoming one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs of his time. Witness a story so outrageous, you won’t believe it’s true. A story that proves business is a lot like sex… getting in is easy, pulling out is hard.

Lindsay Lohan’s “Inferno”: More freaky than “Freaky Friday”

Hollywoodnews.com: Aerik Von, an employee of festish site deadlydommes.com caught a glance at the “Inferno” screenplay – the upcoming project which Lindsay Lohan is slotted to play porn star Linda Lovelace – and it looks to be an embarrassing project for the young star.
Even though Mark Wahlberg came to be known as a prestigious actor after playing fictitious porn star Dirk Diggler in “Boogie Nights,” the explicit scenes featuring Lohan make that 1997 title look like a G-rated Disney film.
In an interview with the NY Post, Von says that “Inferno,” written and to be directed by Matthew Wilder, is like a “Lifetime horror film,” and Lovelace’s husband Chuck Traynor is written as a psychologically and physically torturing antagonist.
“She’s made to say terrible things about herself while in the middle of sex acts. After her boyfriend assaults her, he kisses her bruises and asks, ‘Does this feel good?’ ” Von tells the Post about the screenplay’s cheap shocks.
There’s even a perverse gang-rape scene involving Lovelace with several businessman – a sequence that sounds quite similar to the disturbing scene in Stanley Kubrick’s “Clockwork Orange.”
Von adds, “The movie’s obviously designed to just outright disturb [with] the combination of childhood imagery and absolute outright depraved perversions.”

Hollywood Crackpot of the Month: David Poland

And the “Hollywood Crackpot of the Month” is David Poland
David Poland upgraded to “Hollywood Crackpot of the Year”
On file at the Internal Revenue Service is a 2006 tax document submitted by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, a non-profit group that each year hosts the Critics Choice Awards on TV. Many of the country’s leading TV and radio critics are members.
In the IRS file, the BFCA lists a $27,600 interest-free loan to David Poland’s MCN (Movie City News). The date of the note is Jan. 21, 2005. [Click here to view the IRS documents]
Poland said MCN never received a loan from the broadcast critics. Joey Berlin, who heads the organization, said Poland paid back the money in full with two checks. There is no record in the subsequent year’s tax files that shows any money being repaid by Movie City News.
David Poland upgraded to “Hollywood Crackpot of the Year”
What’s going on?
Berlin said the “loan” may have been inaccurately reported on the IRS Form 990, which all nonprofits are required to submit each year. “What happened was, about five years ago we did the ‘Ten Best Fest,’” Berlin said. “We thought it would be a great idea to screen all the Critics Choice nominees for best picture 10 days leading up to the show. It worked out well, but we got a sense from the studios that they didn’t really love doing it.”
Berlin said the screenings were held at the Pacific Design Center. “In renting the theater, we had made arrangements with the PDC to do it again the next year,” he explained. Since Poland had his own screening series, Berlin said, the critics group decided to let him take over the theater for his own screenings the second year.
“We really didn’t give him any money,” Berlin said. “We let him assume the asset we had, the rent of the theater. We didn’t cut a check to him. He paid it back in two checks. I remember that was something we carried over (as a projected uncollected debt). I had it in the budget for 2006. It doesn’t appear after that. It took David a while to pay us back.”
HollywoodNews could find no specific reference in the 2007 IRS Form 990 showing that Movie City News repaid the nonprofit group. “David is David,” Berlin said, “but as far as I’m concerned he remains an honorable and trustworthy man.”
Poland told HollywoodNews neither he [...]
