Julia Roberts and Richard Jenkins in new “Eat, Pray, Love” clip

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Those who love Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” — and there are hundreds of thousands of you out there — have been praising it for delivering adult-worthy entertainment to a summer box office that’s normally inundated with adolescent popcorn thrills. (Similar raves have attached to Lisa Cholodenko’s “The Kids Are All Right,” and rightfully so.)
And while we still have testosterone-laden flicks like “The Expendables” or the sophomoric antics of Will Ferrell and crew on tap for “The Other Guys,” grownups don’t have to take a backseat until autumn. Sony still has Julia Roberts in “Eat, Pray, Love” on the docket. Iit reaches theaters on Aug. 13, and is expected to appeal to date-night couples as well as dedicated fans of Liz Gilbert’s best-selling book.
Roberts stars as the author, an unfulfilled woman who walks away from her husband (Billy Crudup) and goes in search of herself. She finds love, companionship, and comfort in Italy, India, and Bali (who wouldn’t?), then converts her personal journey into an acclaimed memoir.
The female audience is a lock. Men, however, likely are hoping for a few story layers in which we can relate. The presence of true dudes Javier Bardem, Crudup, James Franco and Richard Jenkins raises expectations.
Speaking of Jenkins, the bearded actor appears in a “First Look” clip hosted on Yahoo that discusses meditation and teases audiences ahead of the film’s opening. Expect more news out of the “Eat, Pray” camp as Sony holds its press junket this weekend in California.

However, sources close to Lindsay say that she will be checking into a rehab facility in California so that “people in her camp can keep close tabs on her progress,” reports TMZ. Her father, Michael, was lobbying for her to enter a facility on Long Island, but it looks like once again he’s not going to get his way.

Lindsay Lohan being “watched around the clock” – Prison guards worried about “suspicious” marks

HollywoodNews.com: Lindsay Lohan is reportedly being watched round the clock as prison warders are worried about her safety.
The 24-year-old is currently carrying out her jail sentence at Lynwood prison in California and officials are said to be watching her in case she self-harms.
A source said to UK newspaper Daily Mirror: “They are suitably worried by the marks to confiscate her prison-issued toiletries. They are not taking any chances whatsoever as she’s quite vulnerable. They are not sure if the marks are fresh or from her time spent at the centre before but they certainly look suspicious.”
It has been reported that Lohan may only carry out 14 days of her 90-day sentence because of overcrowding at the prison.

Sharon Osbourne thinks jail will save Lindsay Lohan’s life

HollywoodNews.com: Sharon Osbourne has said that troubled actress Lindsay Lohan’s stint behind bars is “saving her life”.
The 57-year-old ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge told Access Hollywood, “The judge has been the only one to give tough love and that’s what she needs right now. I know she doesn’t think so, but she’s going to look back on her life in a few months and she’s going to go, ‘Thank you, God’.”
Earlier this month Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her DUI probation. This week she entered the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.
However, according to some reports, the turbulent star may only serve as little as two weeks in the facility. Osbourne commented, “It’s not going to cure her, but hopefully it will be enough time on her own for her to rethink her life.”

Anna Paquin of ‘True Blood’ reveals love for ‘HBO’

HollywoodNews.com: Anna Paquin has spoken about her ambition to work on HBO, the cable network behind the hit TV Show ‘True Blood,’ in which the 27-year-old plays the part of Sookie.
Talking to Venice, she said, “Before the show had come anywhere near me, I had been talking for the last few years about how I would love to get one of those shows like on HBO.
“I think the quality of their product is so high.” She added, “And as far as an acting job, you know where you’re going to be for several months out of your year.”
Describing the day she got hold of the ‘True Blood’ script, she reveals, “I read the cover letter that said ‘HBO’ and ‘Alan Ball’ [the show’s creator] and I was like, ‘Please. Yes. Thank you’.”
Paquin lives in Venice, California with her fiancé and on-screen lover Stephen Moyer. She says she worried that she might not get the part because of her looks.
“A lot of times people have no imagination when it comes to things like what you look like. Brunettes are serious girls and blondes are perky girls, that sort of thing. Thankfully Alan has an imagination.”
When it comes to any similarities between her on-screen romance and her off-screen romance with Moyer, 40, Paquin says, “There are no similarities, I mean, aside from the basic attraction.”

REVIEW: Moore, Bening shine in mature “Kids Are All Right”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: REVIEW: “The Kids Are All Right” (*** out of 4 stars)

The kids aren’t the ones we’re worried about in Lisa Cholodenko’s mature-minded coming-of-age comedy. It’s the grownups who have the hardest time coping with the aftermath of a decision made by California siblings Laser (Josh Hutcherson) and Joni (Mia Wasikowska).
The teenaged offspring of life-long lesbian couple Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Bening), Laser and Joni agree to finally find Paul (Mark Ruffalo), the perfect stranger who blessed them with life by donating sperm to a clinic years ago. Paul’s arrival loosens up the otherwise rigid family unit, awakening them to deeper relationship troubles that could dissect the clan before Joni packs up and leaves for college.
“Kids” operates within a calculated, hipster environment of aviator sunglasses, Bonnaroo concert t-shirts, and a soft-rock-easy-folk soundtrack (loved Bening baring her soul for an a capella rendition of a Joni Mitchell tune). “He’s working the alternative thing pretty hard,” Jules says of Paul, and it’s meant to be judgmental and condescending. I had a similar thought about the movie, though. Cholodenko’s conversations can be stiff, the product of obvious scripting. Her characters don’t deliver organic dialogue. Their confrontations come across as rehearsed, though their insights regarding parenting and relationships are worth hearing.
We eventually stop noticing, however, because Cholodenko’s ensemble is so powerful. Ruffalo and Bening patiently deliver everything the script needs, picking the right moments to rise above and deliver an emotional jab. Wasikowska demonstrates a staying power, having previously held her own alongside Tim Burton’s effects in “Alice in Wonderland.” But it’s Moore who emerges triumphant, unearthing compassion for Jules, who could have come across as an irritating concoction of insecurities and foibles. If “Kids” makes a run through the Oscar season — as it should — Focus Features would be wise to but Moore’s devastating performance at the head of its pack.

Amy Winehouse was “in tears” watching Lindsay Lohan being taken to jail

HollywoodNews.com: Singer Amy Winehouse reportedly cried when she saw Lindsay Lohan being taken to jail as she said it could have been her.
The 26-year-old was said to be very emotional when she saw the Hollywood actress, 24, being taken to jail in California. A source said to UK newspaper Daily Star: “Amy was really tearful watching the drama unfold. It hit home hard that she easily could have ended up behind bars like Lindsay. After she hit a fan for the second time, Amy was only a judge’s decision away from going to the slammer herself. She now realises how out of control she was. She was pretty emotional as she told her dad how grateful she was for his love and thanked him for helping her get back on the straight and narrow.”
