Faith Hill named ambassador of Tide’s Loads of Hope program

HollywoodNews.com: Tide has announced that five-time Grammy Award winner Faith Hill will be the new ambassador for its Tide Loads of Hope program. In 2005, the devastation of Hurricane Katrina inspired the launch of Tide Loads of Hope, a mobile laundry service that provides clean clothes to families affected by disaster. For nearly five years, Tide Loads of Hope has offered free laundry services to communities in the wake of major disasters like Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav, Ike, the California wildfires, and most recently the floods in Middle Tennessee and Pike County, KY. For Faith Hill, who was born in Mississippi and now lives in Nashville, the Tide Loads of Hope program serves as an example of what people and companies can do to provide basic services to individuals in need.
Since 2005, Faith has quietly and tirelessly committed herself to the needs of those affected by Hurricane Katrina. In addition, through charity concerts, fundraisers and donation drives, Faith and her family have contributed goods, services and funds to many around the world affected by tragedy.
“As a Mississippi native, I have witnessed the damage, both physical and emotional, that Hurricane Katrina inflicted on the Gulf Coast. Since then I have been a champion of the work Tide does to restore a sense of hope and normalcy to those affected by disaster through providing a basic necessity – clean clothing,” says Faith Hill. “And with the recent flooding in Nashville, Tide was on hand again to provide relief to those affected here. I am honored to join Tide Loads of Hope as it embarks on its fifth year of supporting communities in times of great need.”
As the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina nears, Tide will host a live concert on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in New Orleans featuring Faith Hill. Tide Loads of Hope Presents: A Celebration of Hope with Faith Hill will serve to honor the resilient spirit of Gulf Coast residents and demonstrate Tide Loads of Hope’s ongoing commitment to New Orleans. The concert will be free for residents of New Orleans and the surrounding area to celebrate how far the community has come in its rebuilding efforts since Katrina.
Gulf Coast residents will have the chance to win free tickets to see Faith perform live on August 24th at the Mahalia Jackson Theater, an iconic New Orleans performing arts center, which was recently rebuilt after closing its doors following Hurricane Katrina. […]

Watch Live from the red carpet: ‘The Expendables’ Premiere

HollywoodNews.com: Watch Live from the red carpet at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood where the premiere of “The Expendables” is taking place:
“The Expendables” is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things arent quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as removing those hard to get at stains. The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.
When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe (Eric Roberts) and his henchman Paine (Steve Austin). When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

Kathy Hilton sympathizes with Dina Lohan

HollywoodNews.com: Paris Hilton’s mom sympathizes with Dina Lohan, as she knows what it’s like to have a daughter in prison.
Lindsay Lohan, 24, is serving a 90-day sentence in the same California prison that Paris Hilton, 28, was locked up in three years ago.
Paris’s mom Kathy told RadarOnline.com: “I have sympathy for Dina Lohan right now. I feel bad for any parent whose child is in jail, it can be really tough. Those days when Paris was in jail were some of the most difficult of my life – it is hard for any parent to deal with. Unfortunately, if you do not follow the rules then this is what can happen – it’s part of the rules of our society.”
She added: “I think Lindsay will learn from this experience. To be in a small cage like that by yourself certainly gives you time to think about things. And for the parent on the outside it is very hard, too.”
