Winners Announced for the 50th Academy of Country Music Awards

Winners have been announced for the 50th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, a star-studded ceremony broadcast LIVE tonight on the CBS Television Network from AT&T Stadium, Home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, TX.
The Awards show moved to Texas for the first time ever in celebration of its 50th Anniversary. Fans named Luke Bryan as Entertainer of the Year, the evening’s biggest honor and his second win in this category.
The 50th ACM Awards broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Highest Attendance at an Awards Show Broadcast with a total of 70,252 fans in attendance.
Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Reba, George Strait, Taylor Swift, and Brooks & Dunn were honored with the 50th Anniversary Milestone Award and presented with an exclusive trophy designed by America’s premier jewelry and timepiece designer, David Yurman.
Like the jewelry designs of David Yurman, this ACM trophy is a timeless piece of craftsmanship that will be treasured for a lifetime.
Jason Aldean won Male Vocalist of the Year for the third consecutive year. Aldean has won an overall total of eight ACM Awards. Miranda Lambert won Female Vocalist of the Year for the sixth consecutive year, setting a new record for the most consecutive wins in that category. Lambert also won Album of the Year for Platinum, and Song of the Year for “Automatic” as artist and songwriter, that made her the leading winner of the night with a total of four awards.
Little Big Town won Vocal Group of the Year award for the second time, making this their fourth overall ACM win. Florida Georgia Line won Vocal Duo of the Year, marking their second win of the night after previously accepting the award for Vocal Event of the Year. They have won an overall total of five ACM Awards since 2012. Cole Swindell won New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s Department Stores, a fan-voted category. This award marks his first-ever ACM Award win.
Prior to the show, Florida Georgia Line won Vocal Event of the Year for “This Is How We Roll” featuring Luke Bryan, and Dierks Bentley won Video of the Year for “Drunk on a Plane.” The artists were surprised with the award on the red carpet during the LIVE ACM pre-show.

Katy Perry to perform ‘Birthday’ at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards

dick clark productions and Billboard announced today that Katy Perry will be performing her new smash hit ‘Birthday’ for the first time on television, at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Perry joins an already star-studded lineup of previously announced musical performers that includes 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Lorde, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, OneRepublic, Pitbull, and Ricky Martin. The 2014 Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 18, on ABC at 8pm ET.
Three-time Billboard Music Award winner Katy Perry, who is a finalist in 10 categories this year, including Top Artist and Top Hot 100 Song, will be performing via satellite from her PRISMATIC WORLD TOUR. The tour kicked off May 7th in Belfast, and continues with 17 dates in the United Kingdom. Second and third legs will take her through North America, Australia and New Zealand for a total of 107 shows this year, with more dates being planned for 2015.
In 2011 she was the Top Hot 100 Artist and the Top Digital Songs Artist. 2014 Top New Artist finalist Ariana Grande has had a monumental year. Her single “Problem,” which she will perform at the awards show with Iggy Azalea, just earned the biggest debut of the year, selling 438,000 downloads in its first week. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 – the highest debut of the year on both charts. At 20-years old, Grande also became the youngest woman to debut with more than 400,000 downloads. “Problem” is the first single off her upcoming second album, due out in the fall. Grande’s first album, “Yours Truly,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2013 and spawned the No. 9 Billboard Hot 100 single “The Way.”
Iggy first exploded onto the underground scene in 2011 with her debut mix tape “Ignorant Art,” which brought her global attention. Since then, Iggy has delivered two top 20 singles on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart: the No. 1 hit “Fancy” and her killer underground smash “Work.” In addition to performing “Problem” with Grande, Azalea will be performing “Fancy,” which currently stands at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Carrie Underwood, Ellie Goulding and OneRepublic are the top three finalists for the Milestone Award

Billboard, dick clark productions and Chevrolet announced today that Carrie Underwood, Ellie Goulding and OneRepublic are the top three finalists for the Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV and broadcast LIVE on ABC at 8pm ET. Fan voting for the three finalists will continue online with the winner being announced during this year’s broadcast.
This is the second year that this editorial award will go to an innovative artist who achieved a notable chart milestone in the past year. In addition to the three finalists, the other nominees for the 2014 Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet included Imagine Dragons, John Legend, and Luke Bryan.
Voting for the three finalists is now open on Billboard.com/milestone. Voting will continue through the first two hours of the live Billboard Music Awards telecast, closing at 10pm ET / 9pm CT. The 2014 Milestone Award will be announced toward the end of the show and presented to the winner by superstar artist, Kelly Rowland. Carrie Underwood to star in ‘Sound of Music’ TV remake

HollywoodNews.com: Carrie Underwood is taking her singing skills to TV as she will reportedly star in the TV remake of ‘The Sound of Music.’
Underwood will reportedly star as Maria von Trapp in the 2013 three-hour special presented by NBC, states UsMagazine.com. “Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn’t be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp,” Robert Greenblatt, the entertainment chairman commented.
The show will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron who have also worked on ‘Smash.’

Carrie Underwood donates concert proceeds to Sandy relief

HollywoodNews.com: Carrie Underwood is doing her part to help with the relief effort needed after superstorm Sandy damaged the east coast.
Underwood recently performed in Atlantic City and decided that the proceeds from the show will go to the relief effort, states People. “I wouldn’t feel right making any money off of tonight’s show, so anything I make is going right back into the community here,” Underwood commented.
But this isn’t even her first donation as, since September, $1 of every ticket sold for her concert has been donated to the Red Cross.

Taylor Swift’s love life center of jokes at CMAs

HollywoodNews.com: Taylor Swift’s love life is always the cause of jokes as she has been known to date a number of celebrities rather quickly.
At the Country Music Association Awards last night, hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley took a second to poke fun at Swift’s personal life, states RadarOnline. The two started talking about football trades when Paisley noted that the best trade of the season was the Kennedy family exchanging Arnold Schwarzenegger for Taylor Swift.
However, Underwood soon broke the news to him that Swift and Conor Kennedy have split to which he commented, “Are they ever gonna get back together?”
“Never, never, never … never ever,” Underwood joked about Swift’s hit song.
But Paisley wrapped it up best as he ended the conversation by saying, “Maybe she’ll write a song about it.”

Underwood recently opened up about not being immune to the Southern tradition of big hair, states People. “We country folk, we like our big hair. I am certainly no exception,” Underwood commented.
But, the singer thinks that it also helps with the way she looks overall: “I just feel like … maybe it makes the rest of me look smaller.”

Kelly Clarkson wants Carrie Underwood as ‘American Idol’ judge

HollywoodNews.com: Upon rumors that former ‘American Idol’ contestants may be brought back to the show, Kelly Clarkson is revealing who she wants to see on it.
Clarkson admitted that while she wouldn’t be a good judge, former winner Carrie Underwood would be perfect, states UsMagazine.com. “[S]he can have that face . . . that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good,” Clarkson said of her fellow winner.
However, it sounds like Clarkson would be open to coming back to the show in another capacity: “I don’t want to be a judge. Mentor is more my style.”
