Sarah Palin to cohost ‘Today’ show tomorrow

NBC has announced that she will be cohosting the show tomorrow and showing viewers “a different side of her,” states TMZ. This is believed to be a reaction to ABC pulling in Katie Couric to cohost “Good Morning America” this week.

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Katie Couric’s final interview for the “CBS Evening News” takes place tonight, and she’s going out with an esteemed political guest, according to reports.
Making due on her promise to exit the network, Couric will conclude her run on CBS tonight with a sit down with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She and Couric reportedly will discuss President Barack Obama’s speech on foreign policy and “the changes in the political landscape in the Arab world following Osama Bin Laden’s death,” THR reports.
Couric’s interview with Clinton airs tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Beyond that, Couric’s plans remains up in the air. She is “eyeing a syndicated talk show, which she wants to be known for ‘smart conversation,’ and Internet platforms,” THR adds, but no plans have been solidified. Scott Pelley, meanwhile, will fill her chair on the “Evening News.”

Katie Couric’s possible CBS talk show deal is allegedly over

HollywoodNews.com: It has been rumored that Katie Couric has been working on a possible deal with CBS to have a syndicated talk show, but it sounds like it won’t be happening.
The reported reason for the deal falling through was allegedly because CBS wouldn’t give Couric enough involvement in the network’s news operations, states TMZ.
She was reportedly offered the chance to do pieces for ’60 Minutes’ but that was all.
Now it is rumored that Couric will be heading to ABC for work.

Katie Couric’s CBS successor named after Royal Wedding?

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Katie Couric’s departure from the “CBS Evening News” has all but been confirmed, but she’ll have one last major assignment before the network names her successor.
She’ll be covering the Royal Wedding.
After five years on the air, Couric is expected to announce at some point this week that she’s leaving the new program (possibly for a daytime syndicated talker), with her successor being named sometime next week, the NY Times reports.
“The meticulously arranged exit plan was described by four people with knowledge of it, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it was not supposed to be revealed before the formal announcement,” the paper reports.
The report does not go on to speculate who might replace Couric in the anchor chair.

Katie Couric heading back to “Today”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Ever since Katie Couric departed the “Today” show, viewers have speculated if and when the television personality would return to the show that made her a household name.
Now it’s happening … and it might be a preview of permanent things to come.
Amidst rumors that Couric is departing CBS News for a syndicated daytime talk show, the New York Post reports that Couric will appear with Matt Lauer on “Today” next Wednesday to promote her book, “The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons From Extraordinary Lives,” which hits stores on Tuesday.
The Post reiterates that Couric’s “Today” appearance “wouldn’t be full-time.”
But over at the Hollywood Reporter, they’re noting that Couric and Lauer “are discussing launching a daytime talk show in the future.”
What do you think? Do you want to see Couric and Lauer reteam? And if they do, will it have to be on the “Today” show, or on a different syndicated daytime talk show?

Katie Couric trading news for syndicated talk?

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Could Katie Couric be giving up her anchor chair at “CBS Evening News” after five years on the job?
That’s the story making the rounds this morning as Couric, who departed NBC’s “Today” show five years ago to become the first female TV news anchor, contemplates her next move.
Couric’s current contract with CBS expires on June 4, and countless industry insiders have whispered that she was planning to leave her gig … possibly for a return to a morning television program, where her sunny demeanor fit the daytime programming.
Now anonymous sources are telling the AP that Couric “is leaving” her post at CBS, and that she “is expected to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012 and several companies are vying for her services, including CBS.”
Is it Couric’s intention to attempt to fill the void left by syndicated talker Oprah Winfrey? How do you think Katie would fare in direct competition with, say, Ellen DeGeneres, who has a very loyal following in daytime talk?
More on Couric’s plans – which may include a contract renewal at CBS, after all of these media diversions – as they develop.
