After- parties and more after-parties at the Golden Globe Awards
By the time the Golden Globes were over, the whole Beverly Hilton was bursting to party. On the 6th floor of the Hilton leading to the roof, I was nearly run over by the cast of “Les Miserables,” all of whom were in high spirits after their big wins in the Comedy/Musical category.
Anne Hathaway led the charge down a narrow passage into the party carrying her Globe and smiling wildly. Director Tom Hooper and star Hugh Jackman were next, followed by co-stars Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried, as well as Sacha Baron Cohen with wife Isla Fisher.
“Les Miz” is a coup now for Universal Pictures chief Ron Meyer and his lieutenants Donna Langley and Adam Fogelson. It’s been a long time since Universal won anything, and now they can boast of a $200 million plus box office plus lots of shiny gold statues.
For Hooper it’s also a real vindication after some tough reviews and a snub by the Academy Awards. The director of “The King’s Speech” looked a little exhausted at this point. “It’s been a long haul,” he said, recalling the very first screening on November 24th at Lincoln Center.
Meanwhile, the Universal party was also home to “Zero Dark Thirty” director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, who lost the Globes but finished their first wide release weekend at number 1. Today they head to London to launch “Zero Dark Thirty” in the U.K. Even though Bigelow makes serious movies, she has a good sense of humor. I asked how she liked Tina Fey’s joke about the “torture” of being married once to “Titanic” director James Cameron. It was the hit of the night. “It was very funny,” Bigelow conceded.
For a second Hugh Jackman showed us his Globe statue and said, “This is so great I can’t tell you.” And then we headed down to Club 55 in the basement of the Hilton, where HBO was literally teeming with celebrities from the casts of “Girls” and “The Newsroom” to miscellaneous stars like Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt to Jeff Garlin of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and Steve Buscemi of “Boardwalk Empire.”
Jeff Daniels, his wife, Kathleen, Hollywood legend Jane Fonda and boyfriend Richard Perry (famed record producer of hits by Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, and Ringo Starr) and Sam Waterston were all having a fine time, while elsewhere a stunning Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were chatting [...]

Anne Hathaway on dropping weight for ‘Les Miserables’
HollywoodNews.com: Anne Hathaway lost 25 pounds for her most recent role in ‘Les Miserables,’ and now she is talking about the difficult experience.
Hathaway opened up to ‘Vogue’ about how extreme the weight loss became for her, states UsMagazine.com. “I had to be obsessive about it — the idea was to look near death,” the actress commented.
But now it sounds like she wouldn’t necessarily do it again: “Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.”

Adele confirms she recorded theme song for new James Bond film
HollywoodNews.com: Adele may be expecting her first child, but that isn’t slowing her down with work as she recently revealed that she recorded the theme song for the new James Bond film, ‘Skyfall.’
The song is also called “Skyfall” and her involvement was speculated about for months before this confirmation, states UsMagazine.com. “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for ‘Skyfall.’ There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end,” Adele said about the project.
The song was reportedly recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with a 77-piece orchestra and will be released online on October 5th.

Christopher Nolan: A fine time to recognize the director
by Mark Johnson
HollywoodNews.com: It is probably way too early in his career to do a Circuit 3 on Christopher Nolan, but with The Dark Knight Rises in theatres (and #1 at the box office for the second week in a row) it seemed like a fine time to recognize the director and help him celebrate his 42nd birthday. Born July 30th, 1970 in London, England, Christopher Jonathan James Nolan has come to be known as one of the finest directors working today, and has put together a resume over the last dozen years as equally impressive, or perhaps greater, than anyone else in that span.
He is a dual citizen of both the United Kingdom and the United States, having split his childhood between London and Chicago, Illinois. His filmmaking career began at the crisp, young age of seven, when he would use his father’s Super 8 camera to make short films using his action figures. After studying at Haileybury and Imperial Service College, he continued his studies at University College London, becoming the president of the college film society from 1992 to 1994. Like many directors, Nolan started with short films before taking on his first feature film in 1998.

Lindsay Lohan reportedly unhappy with ‘Liz and Dick’ casting
HollywoodNews.com: Lindsay Lohan is reportedly working hard getting ready to film the Elizabeth Taylor Lifetime biopic ‘Liz and Dick,’ but it sounds like there is one thing stalling the process.
It is being rumored that Lindsay is unhappy with the casting choices for the role of Richard Burton, states RadarOnline. The current choices are allegedly ‘Gossip Girl’ star Matthew Settle, Sean Maguire, and ‘CSI’ star Craig Robert Young.
She allegedly wants a major star, but considering her salary took up a lot of the budget, it’s pretty unlikely that she’ll get what she wants.

Cate Blanchett talks about the role she really wants
HollywoodNews.com: Cate Blanchett has played both Bob Dylan and Queen Elizabeth I, but there is still one role that she is hoping to tackle in the near future.
Blanchett recently revealed to ‘Harper’s Bazaar UK’ that she’d love to one day play the role of a villain in a James Bond film, states Hollyscoop. “Oh God! Yes! I’d be there in a heartbeat. I love Lotta Lenya [Ross Klebb in 1963’s From Russia with Love]. She had a club foot and a limp. I’m not a purist in that way,” Blanchett commented.
But, she is also looking to take on a role behind the camera: “There is a film I’d love to direct, but I just don’t know if I’ve got the patience.”

Emma Watson reveals “lesbian” comments that came after haircut
HollywoodNews.com: Emma Watson chopped her hair into a pixie cut some time ago, but the drastic change apparently had some people wondering if there was more to the haircut than met the eye.
Watson recently revealed that her shortened haircut had some asking her if the change was a comment on her sexuality, states People. “I had journalists asking me if this meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now. That haircut did make me realize how subjective everyone’s opinion is. Some people were crazy for it and some people just thought I’d lost my [mind],” Watson commented.
However, she isn’t about to not do what she wants just to please others: “I’m a multidimensional person and that’s the freedom of fashion, that you’re able to reinvent yourself through how you dress and how you cut your hair or whatever.”

Emma Watson thanks fashion for expanding her career past ‘Harry Potter’
HollywoodNews.com: Emma Watson is definitely known for her role in ‘Harry Potter,’ but these days she has become so much more than her famous film character, and she thanks fashion for that.
Watson feels like getting to explore fashion and have fun with it gave her a name outside of the film franchise, states UsMagazine.com. “Fashion gave me a chance to feel like I was something outside of ‘Potter.’ I’m a multi-dimensional person and that’s the freedom of fashion; that you’re able to reinvent yourself through how you dress and how you cut your hair or whatever,” Watson explained.
Watson has started taking on role of a future fashion icon as she is now known for taking risks and pushing limits with what she wears down the red carpet.
