Taylor Lautner spending plenty of time with ex-girlfriend

HollywoodNews.com: ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner may be focused on rekindling a former romance as he has reportedly been spending a lot of time with his ex-girlfriend.
Lautner was reportedly spotted most recently going out to dinner with Sara Hicks, who is a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Clippers, states UsMagazine.com. The two were last spotted in January going to Cirque du Soleil’s OVO in Santa Monica.
It’s unknown if Lautner and Hicks are back in a full on relationship just yet.

Oscars: Muppets, Cirque du Soleil confirmed for the Academy Awards – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Some would argue that the annual Oscar telecast is a real circus. This year, it will be more like Cirque du Soleil.
Oscar telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced in a press release Friday morning that Cirque du Soleil will present a “wholly unique and exclusive” performance during the 84th Academy Awards, which will be televised on Sunday, Feb. 26, on ABC.
The producers claim that this one-time-only event will “feature the largest Cirque cast ever assembled for a single act,” and will be accompanied by music by Academy Award-nominated composer Danny Elfman, who scored the music for Cirque du Soleil’s “IRIS, A Journey through the World of Cinema.”
The act marks the second time Cirque du Soleil has performed during an Academy Awards telecast. The troupe’s first appearance, at the 74th Academy Awards, sparked discussions about creating a permanent show at the Kodak Theatre and resulted in the creation of “IRIS.”
In addition, Muppets fans disappointed that their viral campaign to get the puppets as Oscar hosts will be happy to hear that Kermit, Miss Piggy and possibly more Muppets at least will present at this year’s ceremony.
According to another press release, “Hollywood icons Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will present at the 84th Academy Awards … Their place in motion picture and television history has been cemented for decades, as evidenced by their well-deserved invitation to be presenters at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.”
You’ll no doubt be tuning in. Whom else are you excited about seeing?

James Cameron exec producing a 3D Cirque du Soleil movie

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Cirque du Soleil is heading to the big screen, and the self-proclaimed King of the World will help usher the visual spectacle to a theater near you.
Paramount announced that James Cameron, the genius behind “Titanic” and “Avatar,” will help bring an original Cirque story to audience members. The studio acquired worldwide distribution rights to “Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away,” which will be written and directed by Andrew Adamson, whose credits include the first two “Shrek” and “Chronicles of Narnia” films).
This will be a 3D presentation that, according to the statement, will capture the “artistic and acrobatic performances from some of the most elaborate Cirque du Soleil productions.”
“The coupling of filmmaker James Cameron’s groundbreaking 3D visual accomplishments and Andrew Adamson’s beautiful direction, combined with a timeless original story written especially for this movie, will make for a truly amazing movie going experience for audiences of all ages,” said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures.
The film, slated to hit theaters in 2012, does not have an official release date yet.

Cirque du Soleil-like ‘Cavalia’ boasts 60 Arabian horses

By Roger Friedman
HollywoodNews.com: Run–do not walk–maybe gallop over to a series of dreamlike white tents that have planted down in the Meadowlands Sports Center next to the Izod Center. That’s where “Cavalia,” the Cirque du Soleil-like horse pageant opened last night.
:Cavalia” is the brainchild of Normand Latourelle, one of the founders of Cirque du Soleil. He was there in 1988 when Cirque first came to what was then a not totally built Battery Park City. Twenty one years ago Latourelle got the idea to bring dozens (actual number: 60) of Arabian horses and the best trapeze artists, acrobats, and performers together. He commissioned a musical score by Michel Cusson. In 2003, he opened the show in his home town of Montreal. Since then, it’s traveled to Miami, Los Angeles, and a few other locales.

Blake Lively gets fit for “Green Lantern”

Hollywoodnews.com: “Gossip Girl” babe Blake Lively toned her body in preparing for her role as femme baddie Star Sapphire in the upcoming “Green Lantern” film.
Forgoing the typical Hollywood trainer, Lively, 22, opted to exercise alongside members of Cirque du Soleil.
In addition to impressing future moviegoers, Lively sought to be a role model to those closest to her as well.
“All I want is to be a hero to my nephews and nieces. I’m going to be the coolest aunt ever. Our director likes it real – the fights close and dirty. I’m 40 feet in the air, spiraling around. That’s the best workout you can ever do because it’s all core. You do that for ten minutes and you should see your body the next day! It’s so exhilarating, so thrilling – and nauseating,” she tells Showbiz Spy.
She also told the website recently that she has a walk-in closet of 300 pairs of shoes – a stash that apparently fell off the costume truck headed to the “Gossip Girl” set. (Not true – the set was where Lively obtained her fashion inspiration).
“The best place that I find to shop is the fitting room on Gossip Girl. I go in and take pictures on my camera phone, then email them off to the personal shoppers at stores, and say: ‘Find me this.’”

Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil deal may lead to reality show

By Roger Friedman
Michael Jackson’s estate has made a deal with Cirque du Soleil, much as I predicted on November 11, 2009.
But the Cirque du Soleil deal is going to have many branches, from what I’m told. The feeling now is that the shows will use three choreographers. Two will be well known. A third may be selected from a reality show competition that would also yield dancers.
“Michael was always looking for new talent,” says an insider. “We would find it through a reality show.”

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL – BEATLES’ LOVE

Cirque du Soleil announces Michael Jackson based show

The Cirque du Soleil shows are some of the best out there to date. After seeing almost all of them throughout the traveling shows as well as the ones at Vegas, it gets me every time. Not only with every show do they pull stunts that are unimaginable, but the storytelling that they provide lets you escape into a dream world for two hours. I wouldn’t be surprised is Lady Gaga gets some clothing inspiration from the costumes they wear in the shows. They recently opened a show in Las Vegas called “Elvis” to celebrate the music of an icon. Before that they opened a “Beatles” show that even featured a skating ramp in the middle of the stage. Now they are back to bring the music of Michael Jackson alive in the unique Cirque fashion.
AP reports that the new touring show will start late next year and then will follow in 2012 with a permanent residency in Las Vegas on a property owned by MGM Mirage Inc. They report that in a 50/50 split, Cirque du Soleil and the Jackson estate will split the cost. Co-executor of the estate, John Branca, stated, “Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan. We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael’s fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael’s music.”
We can’t wait for this show to open.
