HollywoodNews.com: Actor Colin Farrell appeared on ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ Thursday night to promote his film, ‘Fright Night’. On the show, Colin opened up about his son’s Angelman Syndrome.

Colin’s son, James, 7, was diagnosed with the syndrome, which according to Colin, affects one in 30,000 children. Since it’s a rare syndrome, Colin said “there’s not that much funding because it doesn’t benefit pharmaceutical companies,” according to OK Magazine.

The father of two asked those who wanted to help, to visit CureAngelman.org, and make a donation. “James started walking just short of his 4th birthday and doesn’t have any verbal speech, but Colin made sure to say that his boy is a ‘a really happy boy’.”

The panel included Weisman, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, Kate Beckinsale and Colin Farrell, who plays Doug Quaid, the character portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Verhoeven’s original film.

To be clear, Weisman’s “Total Recall” is not a new adaptation of Dick’s short story — it is very much a remake of Verhoeven’s film. It appears that, for the most part, the premise and characters are the same, with some twists along the way.

The story is pretty simple: two nation states, Euromerica and New Shanghai, vie for supremacy as a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he is, in fact, a spy – though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on. Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) will be playing the villain of Vilos Cohaagen, previously played by Ronny Cox.

The presentation, complete with unfinished footage, showcased that moment where Quaid realizes he’s a spy. Nick de Semlyen over at Empire summarized the sequence nicely. “It began with hero Douglas Quaid (not be confused with Dennis, or Randy…), played by Colin Farrell, paying a visit to the shady McClane (not to be confused with John), played by a peroxided John Cho, a merchant who sells ‘brain vacations.’

“Quaid wants to enjoy some simulated espionage, but as he’s plugged into a virtual-reality device an alarm blares. Turns out the system has determined that he’s already a spy, and a cadre of futuristic shock-troops turn up.”

Recalling “The Bourne Identity,” Quaid breaks out some serious martial arts moves he didn’t know he had and escapes through an air vent. All in all, it sounds like a pretty slick sequence, even if Ah-nold isn’t running around screaming and making things go boom-boom.

While I remain entirely skeptical of Weisman’s ability as a director (I haven’t enjoyed a single film the guy’s made), “Total Recall” has one hell of a cast — adding Bill Nighy and Ethan Hawke to the already star-studded panel.

No word yet if there will be any three-breasted mutant hookers in Weisman’s remake, but a guy can always hope, right?

But would more people have turned out if the comedy starred Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Reynolds, Philip Seymour Hoffman or Johnny Knoxville, as originally planned?

In an interview with “Bosses” producer Brett Ratner, he revealed that the above actors all, at some point, were attached to the comedic premise. Casting options come and go in Hollywood, so it’s no surprise that these names were floated (and eventually flopped).

But in the piece (which you can read HERE), Ratner also admits that sequel talk has begun, and the franchise could go in wildly different directions. Ratner, perhaps jokingly, said that while no plans for a follow up are in development at this time, titles like “Horrible Wives” and “Horrible Children” appeal to him.

“Horrible Bosses” is directed by Seth Gordon and produced by Brett Ratner and Jay Stern, from a screenplay by Michael Markowitz and John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein, story by Markowitz. Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener, Michael Disco, Samuel J. Brown and Diana Pokorny serve as executive producers, with John Rickard and John Cheng as co-producers.

The creative filmmaking team includes director of photography David Hennings; production designer Shepherd Frankel; editor Peter Teschner; costume designer Carol Ramsey; composer Christopher Lennertz; and music supervisor Dana Sano.

Biel was recently spotted riding on Gerard Butler’s motorcycle, but it seems she may be playing the field, states Hollyscoop. Biel reportedly got close to Colin Farrell while they have been shooting the ‘Total Recall’ remake.

Biel reportedly has quite a bit of fun with Farrell and is just enjoying herself.

The sci-fi action thriller, which casts Colin Farrell as a factory worker who begins to suspect he’s a spy in a futuristic society, just added Bill Nighy to its growing cast, THR reports. The Brit will play Quatto, the infamous leader of the resistance. Nighy’s a regular player in Wiseman’s ensemble, having participated in the “Underworld” series. He’ll join Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston and Jessica Biel in the film, which reportedly begins shooting in Toronto next month.

“Recall,” of course, was a very popular vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger. At one point, it was believed a cameo from the former Governator would be worth its weight in gold. Now it would probably tarnish a promising production.

The “Recall” remake will be in theaters next year.

Seriously, even when Farrell was supposed to be serious in films like “Tigerland,” “Hart’s War” or Malick’s “The New World,” there’s an air of flippancy that always gives his character an edge. But for true examples of Farrell’s demented sense of humor, check out the trailer for “Horrible Bosses” that hit the internet earlier this week (I’ve posted it below). Then rent “Daredevil,” “Intermission,” and Martin McDonagh’s hilarious “In Bruges.” You’ll be laughing for days.

So it pleases us to no end that Farrell and McDonagh plan to reunite for “Seven Psychopaths,” where, according to Variety, he’ll play “a screenwriter who runs into a block and ends up getting involved in his friends’ dog-kidnapping scheme.”

It’s notable because the “friends” in question include Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke. Um, sign us up.

No word on when “Psychopaths,” or who the other three psychopaths will be, but so far, this one sounds like something to watch.

It makes sense, as Beckinsale’s husband, Len Wiseman, is on tap to direct. And now the word this morning states that Beckinsale has been offered the role of Lori, a part played by Sharon Stone in the original Arnold Schwarzenegger version, Deadline reports.

The site goes on to report that Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson “are the serious contenders” for the film’s other female role, Melina.

Beckinsale’s currently filming the latest “Underworld,” but she should be finished in time to jump into “Recall.” Sony Pictures is producing the releasing the remake, which would be in theaters in 2012.

Oh. Never mind.

Farrell, in fact, is playing a vampire named Jerry in Craig Gillespie’s “Fright Night,” from DreamWorks Studios.

The picture – a remake of Tom Holland’s beloved 1985 comedy — also stars Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek”), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Kick-Ass”) and Toni Collette. The plot’s pretty simple. A vamp moves in next door to a high school cool kid and causes all sorts of troubles. Today, the studio released a handful of new images, which we’ve posted below.

HollywoodNews.com: When Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest in a private service last week, many were surprised to learn that actor Colin Farrell was one of the few non-family members reportedly in attendance. He also recited a poem during the service.

It was not well-known that Miss Taylor and the star of such films as ‘A Home at the End of the World,’ ‘Tigerland’ and ‘Phone Booth’ were so close.
