‘Jersey Shore’ star upset after club appearance

HollywoodNews.com: It looks like the cast of ‘Jersey Shore’ doesn’t always get what they want as newbie Deena Cortese had a bad club experience.
Cortese was making a paid appearance at The Alchemy in New Haven, Connecticut when she felt like she was treated poorly, states TMZ. After her two-hour appearance was up, she claims the club mistreated her.
“After I did over an hour of taking pictures, dancing on stage, and talking on the mic, I was done with my 2 hrs of work … the owner decided to grab me, put me to the side, speak down to me, embarrass me in front of my fans, kicked my best friend out of V.I.P. and made me cry,” Deena claimed about being booted from the VIP section after her appearance.
Do you think that treatment was unfair?

‘Jersey Shore’s’ Pauly D finds his look-alike

HollywoodNews.com: Plenty of people have been dressing up like Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi from ‘Jersey Shore’ because of her outrageous look, but now Pauly D has some look-alikes out there.
A high school student from Connecticut looks more than just a little like the reality TV star, and it isn’t just the hair, reports RadarOnline.com. Joey Mancini admits that he has tried to alter his look a little to match Pauly D’s: “I was watching the show the first day it came out and I needed a new haircut, and then I saw Pauly D’s.”

Beck/Smith Hollywood’s 33rd Annual Tacky Taste Awards

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
HollywoodNews.com: Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, and a big serving of gratitude to the readers who contributed their votes — and wit — to this annual celebrity turkey shoot. Our cornucopia overflows with tackiness, so let’s get to it:
1. Snooki. Just in time for her 23rd birthday this week (Nov. 23), the petite “Jersey Shore” vixen becomes the top vote getter in the 33rd Annual Beck/Smith Hollywood Tacky Taste Awards. Yes, Snooki, nee Nicole Polizzi, won the hearts — or at least, the attention — of Tacky voters across the land.
“Cute little figure and dumb as a box of rocks. Snooki is my Tacky Princess for 2010,” writes R.M. of Anaheim, CA. “Snooki and ‘Tacky’ go together like Cheetohs and orange fingers. Ya gotta love her,” says Jamie L. of Canton, OH. Referring to her arrest this past summer for loudly stumbling around drunk on a beach, Teri99 points out: “When a judge calls you a ‘Lindsay Lohan wannabe’ it just doesn’t get tackier than that.” Carlos G. of New York brought up Snooki’s surprising “Happy Birthday” Twitter exchange with John McCain: “Look out. This is how it all began with Sarah Palin.”
2. Lady Gaga. “Lady Ga-ga’s dress con carne pushed her into the gag-o-sphere of tackiness” as reader Bernice R. of Naples, FL cleverly puts it. She adds, “I propose a last name for her: ‘Maggot.’ Then, she could be called, ‘Lady Gag-a-Maggot.’ Grace H. of Burbank, CA, concurs: “She seems to be the figment of a deranged mind. She really went too far when she was dressed in slabs of meat. Now that Mr. Blackwell is gone women will do anything.”
3. Kate Gosselin. “She claims to ‘do it all for the kids’ but goes around dressed like a $2 whore and never misses an opportunity to denigrate and bash her ex-husband,” says reader Dee W.. Tell us how you really feel, Dee! She continues that Gosselin “treats other people as if they are less than human, including her own children. This not only is bad for the children, it’s now showing up in the kids’ behavior as well, with 2 of them being expelled from kindergarten (!!) for bullying and mistreating their fellow students.”
4. ‘DWTS’/Bristol Palin. “The politicizing of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ their fawning over Sarah Palin, and all the Tea Partiers voting to keep the clearly inferior Bristol in [...]

Subway’s Don Fertman goes undercover on ‘Undercover Boss’

HollywoodNews.com: Don Fertman, Chief Development Officer for the Subway sandwich chain, has played a pivotal role in the growth of the Subway brand to become the largest quick service restaurant chain in the world.
But recently, while participating in the hit CBS television series Undercover Boss, Don was able to get a glimpse at a part of the business he rarely sees during his daily routine in his office at the SUBWAY® chain’s Milford, CT, world headquarters. Don, a 29 year veteran of the restaurant chain, was baking bread, stocking sandwich ingredients, slicing vegetables, taking inventories and serving customers.
Don was sent on an undercover assignment by Subway President and Co-Founder Fred DeLuca. Although Fred would have liked to participate, he was thought to be too recognizable for the mission.
“When Fred sent me undercover, I told him I wanted to catch people doing really good things,” Don said. “I was not disappointed. I worked alongside many great store employees and came back with some terrific best practices which we will be sharing within the organization. After working with these folks, I can see why we continually are rated very high by consumers. This was a very valuable experience.”
“There are a few things I was hoping to see while in the stores,” Don said. “We launched a major breakfast program in 2010 and I wanted to see first-hand how that was working in the restaurants. We also have a lot of stores that run successful catering programs and I wanted to find best practices on that or to see what the specific needs are to make it better in the field.
Overall, Don said the experience was one he would never forget and looked forward to working with the participants in the future.
“We are the number one chain in the world, and we continually look for ways to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers each and every day,” Don said. “Taking advantage of a situation like the one presented on Undercover Boss not only gives us a glimpse of what is happening on the front lines in the stores, but it provides consumers a look at how we operate. We are proud of how our wonderful sandwich artists deliver a terrific product to every customer and the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of our amazing team of franchisees is the foundation of our system. We believe this episode will shine a spotlight on how [...]

Chad Michael Murray, Katie Sackhoff bring “Haunting” down South

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: After creeping out New England, the “Haunting” heads south for a new nightmare.
Chad Michael Murray, Abigail Spencer, Katee Sackhoff and Emily Alyn Lind have joined “The Haunting in Georgia,” a sequel to last year’s “The Haunting in Connecticut” which was produced by Gold Circle Films.
The original starred Virginia Madsen and Elias Koteas in the story of a family experiencing supernatural behavior in their new home. The sequel, according to the Hollywood Reporter, follows a new family – the Wyrick clan – in a new, Southern home. It reportedly starts shooting later this month in Baton Rouge, with Tom Elkins at the helm.
The cast has TV roots. Murray, as you may know, is best known for his work on “One Tree Hill.” Spencer appeared on “Mad Men” for AMC, while Sackhoff has a huge following for playing Starbuck on “Battlestar Galactica” and her role on “CSI.”

Robert Pattinson surprises Connecticut students with video cameo

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Robert Pattinson has a bright future in film after the “Twilight” franchise fades into the sunset following “Breaking Dawn,” and by the looks of this new clip, the actor might want to try his hand at comedy.
Let’s set the stage. “Friday Night Lights” and “Battleship” director Peter Berg had agreed to film a video message for the students at his alma mater, Taft. Hoping to make a splash with the kids back in Connecticut – home of the boarding school – Berg wisely recruited a celebrity guest star for the clip: Pattinson.
“Taft has been causing problems for a while now,” Pattinson jokes, much to Berg’s delight.
The video shows a different side to Pattinson, a lighter mood he isn’t able to display in “Twilight” or side projects like “Little Ashes” and “Remember Me.”
According to E!, the Taft student body went nuts when Pattinson showed up in the clip. (You can view it here.)
“When the film was shown, it was deafening! Peter Berg has directed another blockbuster hit,” said Taft Headmaster Willy MacMullen. “I thought we were going to have to call in the medics — several of the girls looked as if they were about to have a heart attack!”
You mean another filmmaker beside Danny Boyle is making audience members pass out? Stop the presses.
Pattinson, meanwhile, will next appear in “Water for Elephants,” the romance “Bel Ami,” and a little film called “Breaking Dawn” … all in 2011. A busy year for a busy actor. And one with a hidden funny bone that I hope continues to shine.
