Paranorman: A Solid Movie with Impressive Visuals

by Michael Ward
HollywoodNews.com: After dazzling us with Coraline, it should come as a surprise to no one that Laika Stuidos newest film, ParaNorman would be at least a solid movie with impressive visuals. But man did they take it to the next level with this film. With ParaNorman, directors Sam Fell and Chris Butler manage to not only deliver beautiful visuals, but 90 minutes of an incredibly rich story filled with solid themes and great characterizations.
An uproariously funny homage to zombie films and 80s films like The Goonies, ParaNorman tells the story a boy named Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) who has the ability to talk to ghosts. He’s picked on by a bully named Alvin and misunderstood by everyone, especially his parents. Already ostracized, he manages to make a friend named Neil, but at the same time come visions and a warning from his crazy uncle about a witch’s curse that will be enacted if he doesn’t read a story on the witch’s grave. Unfortunately for him hijinks ensue and the dead rise, leading Norman to team up with some unlikely people including his sister, his tormentor, his friend Neil and Neil’s brother Mitch to save the town from the zombies and the witch’s curse.

A Bittersweet Goodbye to Twilight at Comic-Con

By Kim Palacios
hollywoodnews.com: For the very last time, Twilight fans took to the lawns outside Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con to await the franchise’s final appearance at the convention.  The staunchest fans held the line for four days and nights to guarantee front-row seats.  One group of eight friends (who also headed the line at the 2011 event) spent months planning their return, camping in shifts to hold their spots.
In honor of this, the cast came out in spades, with core players who have featured in all five films attending the panel.  Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and all seven actors from the Cullen clan joined Twilight creator (and “Breaking Dawn” producer) Stephanie Meyer on stage for a Q&A panel; close to the end of the event, nearly two dozen additional actors playing vampires from related clans were also presented on stage.  For those die-hard fans with the stamina to camp overnight, the highlight came on Wednesday via a late-night visit by some stars and the author.  Peter Facinelli and Stephenie Meyer (to name two) spent hours signing autographs and taking photos with attendees.
Yet, the day was bittersweet for fans most familiar with the event.  Giselle G., a well-known member of the fan community who had attended Twilight-related events at Comic-Con in no fewer than three previous years, was struck and killed by a car on Tuesday while crossing the street near the camping area.  One friend accustomed to seeing her each year at Comic-Con recalled Giselle as kind-hearted, saying she would never forget the way Giselle “stuck by her” and helped her manage when she was pregnant and attended the event in 2010.   Friends erected a wreath, laid flowers, and wore black armbands in Giselle’s memory.

‘Twilight’ reveals Bella and Edward’s daughter, Renesmee

HollywoodNews.com: ‘Twilight’ fans are anxiously awaiting the final installment of the film franchise, but they won’t have to wait until then to see Bella and Edward’s daughter, Renesmee.
A new photo has been released of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as their characters with their young daughter who is both human and vampire, states Hollyscoop. The child grows at an accelerated pace so while she is still a baby, she already looks five years old in the photo.
The young girl also has her own set of special powers.
The next film will hit theaters on November 16th.

Robert Pattinson clears up ‘Hunger Games’ rumor

HollywoodNews.com: Robert Pattinson became a major star when he broke out with the successful ‘Twilight’ franchise, but that doesn’t mean he is going after another major movie role.
There have been rumors that Pattinson might be considered for the role of Finnick in ‘The Hunger Games’ sequel, but it seems that isn’t true, states UsMagazine.com. “I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in ‘The Hunger Games.’ I was kind of curious for a second, so I called my agent. My agent was like, ‘No one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson revealed.
Luckily, he had a good attitude about it all: “I was like, ‘Thanks for the reassurance!’”
