“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

“The Avengers” won’t have War Machine, Cheadle says
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Don’t expect to see War Machine in Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” when it comes out next summer. According to Don Cheadle, who played the Marvel hero in Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man 2,” he’s not showing up … and he’s thrilled with the character’s absence!
“I have a contract to be in ‘The Avengers,’ but I’m glad they haven’t exercised that option yet. I need some down time,” Cheadle tells Collider in an interview.
So when might we see Cheadle in the iron underwear again? Well, the actor who once replaced Terrence Howard in the “Iron Man” franchise speculates that he’ll be back for the announced “Iron Man 3,” which Shane Black will direct.
“We’ll probably do that again in February, and there’s talk of a War Machine spinoff, which I guess, unless I get recast, I would probably do.”
Great line. I think Cheadle was fine as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, but then again, I didn’t have a problem with Howard, who apparently bid himself out of the franchise with contract negotiations.

“Spider-Man” villain photographed on set
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Set photos have been pouring in from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Heck, we even saw YouTube videos of the crime-fighting web spinner swinging from a New York City bridge. Will there be any surprises left by the time this anticipated blockbuster rolls into theaters next summer?
Well, up until this point, the film’s official villain hadn’t been spotted. Rhys Ifans plays Dr. Curt Connors in the film … and as we all know from reading Spidey’s comic books, Connors goes on to become the savage Lizard.
This morning, set photos shot by J. Anthony Hall and posted to his Twitter feed reveal Ifans as Connors talking to Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. We’ve got it below.
How do we know that’s Connors? Look at the green sleeve he’s wearing on his arm. In the comics, Connors has lost a limb, and its his experiments geared toward regenerating his missing arm that eventually turn him into The Lizard.
ComingSoon also collected a handful of on-set shots capturing Garfield, Emma Stone (as Gwen Stacy) and Martin Sheen as Parker’s Uncle Ben.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” reaches theaters on July 3, 2012 … you know, if there’s anything left to see!

Arnold Schwarzenegger will “Cry Tough” before “Terminator”
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Looks like we’re putting those “Terminator” rumors on hold for the time being.
While Arnold Schwarzenegger still plans a return to acting now that he’s closed the political chapter of his professional career, he will not be resurrecting his most famous character for a fifth “Terminator” film, as was previously discussed. At least, not yet.
Instead, it was announced that Schwarzenegger has circled “Cry Tough” as his first project out of the gate, a drama about a horse trainer who, because he’s down on his luck, accepts a job kidnapping a young child.
Al Ruddy, an Oscar winner for both “The Godfather” and “Million Dollar Baby,” will produce the film, while “Lincoln Lawyer” director Brad Furman has been hired to direct, THR reports.
“I guarantee that you’ll get another look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in this movie,” Ruddy said. “Arnold always plays these big muscular guys, but there’s a sweetness to Arnold in real life, and we want to bring that sweetness to the screen. Now that Brad’s met with Arnold, he’s convinced there’s an accessibility and vulnerability there that he wants to bring out.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger shopping fifth “Terminator”
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: He said he’d be back. We just didn’t know how many times!
Arnold Schwarzenegger, free from politics and eager to line up a handful of Hollywood film projects, appears to be shopping around a fifth “Terminator” film, and he’s got “Fast Five” director Justin Lin under his wing, according to Deadline.
“Schwarzenegger is looking to recapture past marquee glory ending his run as California State Governor,” the site writes. “Schwarzenegger has circled several projects including Last Stand for Lionsgate, but here, he’s the star, returning to the signature role that once established him as the world’s biggest movie star.”
But who wants to see an old Terminator stomping after an equally aging John Connor? And how many times can these two prevent Armageddon? It seems that the latest film put a cap on the myth. We’ll see what a new screenwriter can conjure, in time.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will be cartoon “Governator”
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: He has played comic book-worthy superheroes on screen for decades. So it only makes sense that larger-than-life actor-celebrity Arnold Schwarzenegger would receive his own comic property.
Schwarzenegger is collaborating with legendary comic book creator Stan Lee for a comic and animated TV program modeled after a new hero, The Governator, EW.com reports.
“When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about ‘the Governator,’ I thought the word was so cool,” Schwarzenegger said in an interview. “The word Governator combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together. It combines the governor, the Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies…”
This new project wouldn’t be out in theaters until next year, giving animators the chance to design the TV show and comic. But Lee told EW that it will utilize several elements from Schwarzenegger’s personal and professional life.
“I love the idea of a control center below my house with a path so that boats and submarines can go right into the ocean,” Schwarzenegger claims. “In the cartoon, my house is much closer to the beach than where we live, but, you know, it’s a cartoon.”
And it’s a cartoon we can’t wait to see!

Arnold Schwarzenegger tells fans he’s contemplating comic book property
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Actor, is contemplating a comeback now that Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Politician, has ended his term. But what project will catch Arnold’s eye in the coming months? As it turns out, he has plenty to choose from.
Speaking before a gathered crowd of Schwarzenegger die-hards on Sunday, the “Terminator” star revealed that he’s weighing 15 legitimate projects, many of which include proposed remakes of his greatest hits.
“Well, first of all it’s more 15 films, obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things,” Schwarzenegger said, courtesy of www.thearnoldfans.com.
But Schwarzenegger isn’t committing to remakes right away. In fact, he went on to say his next project – surprise, surprise – will be a comic book movie.
“I am also packaging a Comic Book character right now,” he said. “I’m going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April.”
Which comic book? We have no idea just yet. Let’s hope it’s not the one pictured above!
Still, no matter the character, we’d prefer to see Schwarzenegger in something original than a rehash of a film he has done already. Do you really want to see Arnold in a “Predator” remake? Didn’t we just see an updated “Predator” with Adrian Brody? Branch out, Arnold. Head in different directions. Your loyal fans will follow no matter what you do. But massive, mainstream audiences likely want to see something different. Show them what you’ve got!

Emma Stone on “Spider-Man,” Andrew Garfield and harnesses
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Clearly, one of the film’s in production we’re most excited about is Marc Webb’s “Spider-Man” reboot. It ranks right up there with “The Dark Knight Rises” and probably the one-two punch of “Thor” and “Captain America.” So anytime a cast member from Webb’s planned blockbuster speaks about their role in the superhero extravaganza, we’re eager to share.
While speaking with MTV about the huge year she is enjoying, Emma Stone opened up about playing Gwen Stacy, the love interest of Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker.
“The way I have to approach it, and I think Andrew would agree, is just like any other movie,” Stone told MTV. “You’re going to put the same amount of focus into this that you would with anything. It just happens to be an exponentially bigger budget. So there’s that. It’ll probably feel different when we start to do press, but we won’t have to deal with that for another year and a half. And there are harnesses I’m going to have to use in this one. That’s the only difference: just the harnesses.”
Please tell me she is wearing a harness because Webb is going to toss her off the top of a bridge, just out of Spidey’s reach!
Oh, wait. Rhys Ifans reportedly is playing The Lizard, and not The Green Goblin. Sorry. We’re clinging to Spider-Man rumors, though they are few and far between right now. Just harnesses. But it begins filming soon ahead of a 2012 release. Stay tuned!

And the Spider-Man villain will be …
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: We know Rhys Ifans will play the villain in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, with Andrew Garfield in the hero’s tights.
Now an exclusive scoop on The Wrap claims that Ifans will play The Lizard, as well as (I assume) his alter ego, Dr. Curt Connors.
In the books, Connors is one of Peter Parker’s professors. In an effort to generate a limb, he concocts a potion which transforms him into the scaly, vicious Lizard. It was believed Dylan Baker would become the Lizard, after appearing as the character in three of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films. But if the Wrap is right, Lizard will terrorize Spidey in 2012.
Emma Stone has been cast as love interest Gwen Stacey. The movie, which will be presented in 3-D, opens on July 3, 2012.
