HollywoodNews.com: Megan Fox is headed somewhere a little unexpected as she will soon be making her debut on Broadway.

In November, Fox will be involved in the annual “24 Hour Plays” project that benefits the Urban Arts Partnership, states UsMagazine.com. The project will team up 24 stars with six writers, six directors, two musical guests and a production staff to produce six plays that will be performed one day later.

Stars like Sarah Silverman, Gabourey Sidibe, Tracy Morgan and Jesse Eisenberg will also reportedly be involved.

The show will take place on November 14th.

‘Precious’

Talk about good timing. Days after Lee Daniels’ raw “Precious” won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress (Mo’Nique) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher), the heart wrenching drama arrives on DVD for those who couldn’t work up the courage to see it in theaters. (The film’s $47 million domestic take is solid, but not staggering.)

Mo’Nique riveted Academy members with her portrayal of Mary, the monstrous mother of title character Precious (Oscar nominee Gabby Sidibe, equally devastating). The two occupy an all-too-realistic urban environment pockmarked by poverty, illiteracy and, worst of all, incest. Precious’s father, seen in only in flashbacks, raped her multiple times, endowing her with two babies, to which Mary clings so the state will continue to provide welfare. But when Precious reaches her breaking point, a teacher (Paula Patton) and a social worker (Mariah Carey) dare to intervene.

A difficult sit, “Precious” earns its stripes with spectacular performances from fearless actors willing to embrace the pain and hurt in Fletcher’s script. He adapts the novel, “Push,” by street poet Sapphire, but turns it – with Daniels’ help – into a story we can relate to. And that might be the saddest part of all.

Lionsgate’s “Precious” DVD comes with an audio commentary track; featurettes on the adaptation and casting processes; conversations with Daniels and Sapphire; deleted scenes; Sidibe’s audition reel and more.

Oprah has admitted that her dream date would be to take Gabourey Sidibe to the Oscars. Sidibe will be bringing her mom along her side to the big awards show but Oprah would love to be in her spot. Sidibe stated, “Oprah called me and was like, ‘Hey girl, do you want to ride together?’ I was like, ‘I got it Oprah, calm down. I don’t want to show up with you. People will think we’re too cool.”

Beverly Hills, CA (February 12, 2010) — Fourteen of the 20 nominees in the acting categories will be among more than 120 Academy Award® nominees who will gather at noon on Monday (February 15) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors this year’s Oscar contenders at its annual Nominees Luncheon. Additional confirmations are expected to come in over the weekend.

From the Leading Actor and Actress categories, Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, Jeremy Renner, Sandra Bullock, Carey Mulligan, Gabourey Sidibe and Meryl Streep are expected to attend. Vera Farmiga, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anna Kendrick, Woody Harrelson and Christoph Waltz will represent the Supporting Actress and Actor categories.

All five nominees from the Directing category – Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, Lee Daniels, Jason Reitman and Quentin Tarantino – also are expected to attend.

Academy Awards® for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. BAFTA has announced the nominations and the list includes lead nods going to “Avatar,” “An Education,” and “The Hurt Locker.” That is not to say that they didn’t throw us some surprises in the meantime. Many films that have been in the buzz that were left out are the acclaimed “Bright Star” by Jane Campion, “Invictus,” Julianne Moore’s nom for “A Single Man,” as well as Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummber’s noms for their roles in “The Last Station.”

The winners will be announced at the Orange British Academy Film Awards in London on February 21.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 — The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the winners of the 15th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards earlier this evening. The star-studded ceremony was hosted by Kristin Chenoweth at the Hollywood Palladium and aired live on VH1. The Hurt Locker was named the year’s Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow won Best Director honors.

Avatar was another big winner with a record six Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for Best Action Movie, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Cinematography for Mauro Fiore, Best Art Direction for Rick Carter and Robert Stromberg, and Best Editing for Stephen Rivkin, John Refoua and James Cameron. Jeff Bridges was honored with the award for Best Actor for his role in Crazy Heart, while Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia) and Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) tied in the lead actress category.

Christoph Waltz was honored with the Best Supporting Actor award for his work in Inglourious Basterds, the film that was also honored for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Original Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino. Best Supporting Actress honors went to Mo’Nique for Precious and Best Young Actor/Actress went to Saoirse Ronan for The Lovely Bones. Up won Best Animated Feature and Best Comedy went to The Hangover.

Renowned actor and philanthropist Kevin Bacon was honored with the third annual Joel Siegel Award presented by Meryl Streep. The BFCA created this award to honor those in the film community whose actions demonstrate that the greatest value of celebrity is the ability to do good work for others. This special award pays homage to beloved “Good Morning America” film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel, who passed away in 2007.

The 15th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards also included a special tribute to American film director and producer John Hughes, who passed away in August, 2009. In honor of Hughes’ life and cinematic achievements, John Krasinski and Amy Poehler presented a poignant tribute followed by a musical performance from Death Cab For Cutie who played “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from “The Breakfast Club” soundtrack.
