The Amazing Spider-Man NEW trailer

HollywoodNews.com: The Amazing Spider-Man NEW trailer will debut this weekend in many theaters playing The Avengers.
Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy, and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

“Amazing Spider-Man” hi-res images add mystery

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” emerged from Comic-Con as the clear publicity winner, winning over fans with new footage (which included shots of Rhys Ifans as The Lizard) and introducing a totally charming Andrew Garfield to his ever-growing fan base.
While Sony’s Comic-Con push also included exclusive shots in EW and leaked (then official) “Amazing Spider-Man” trailers, we hadn’t yet seen hi-res versions of the best shots. ComingSoon clears that up. Here are some great ones below:

And then there’s this one, which puzzles me.

It has Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy cleaning up Garfield’s bruises. Clearly he has been put through the wringer in a major battle. But does Gwen know he’s Spidey? Is he making up some excuse for the battle scars? Or will Peter have a partner behind the scenes in his fight against Dr. Curt Connors?
All will be revealed next summer, when “The Amazing Spider-Man” swings into theaters on July 3.

Spider-Man Comic-Con panel includes first look at The Lizard

By Adam Frazier
Hollywoodnews.com: The first official teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” debuted earlier this week, to a very mixed reaction. Last night Sony had their panel at San Diego Comic-Con and revealed footage from the upcoming film, complete with web-shooters and radioactive spiders.
The “Spider-Man” panel kicked off with actor Andrew Garfield in a cheap Spider-Man costume giving a passionate speech about how Spider-Man has inspired him and why he loves the character so much.
The panel included director Marc Webb, Emma Stone (the new Gwen Stacy), producers Matt Tomack and Avi Arad, with Garfield joining them on stage. The footage shown was a clip package (including some unfinished, rough cut material) that showcased Garfield as Peter Parker and his relationship with Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy and the film’s villain, The Lizard.
In one scene, Peter find his father’s old OsCorp Industries employee ID in his attaché case, along with a top secret file that leads him back to OsCorp, where Gwen Stacy works as an assistant for Dr. Curt Connors.
Drew McWeeny of HitFix walked way feeling confident about the Webb’s film. “What really did it for me was seeing the wise-cracking, fast-talking Spidey, the one I’ve never seen in a film before. Garfield is just plain funny as Spider-Man… It’s playful. It’s not dour at all. And it’s the Spider-Man that I always wanted from the Raimi films.”
The real highlight of the footage, though, was the first appearance of The Lizard, monstrous alter-ego of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans). Here are some reactions from writers in attendance:
“In the footage that first revealed the look of The Lizard, he comes up from the sewer through a toilet in a girls’ bathroom to scare a couple of young girls. His look is best described as Killer Croc meets Venom but the size of the Hulk. He’s huge, with a flat face and long tongue, and really detailed dark green, reptile scales.” – Germain Lussier, SlashFilm.
“The short piece ends with The Lizard smashing his way up through the floor of the girls bathroom in a high school, terrifying two teenaged girls. He’s a big giant CGI creature, very animal, with a nasty tongue and a flat, reptile face. He’s not exactly the version we’ve seen before, but if I had to name the character, I think “The Lizard” would be entirely fitting.” – Drew McWeeny, HitFix

Emma Stone calls “Spider-Man” trailer “Amazing”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Like most of us, Emma Stone eagerly downloaded that leaked clip of Marc Webb’s trailer for his anticipated “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Unlike most of us, Stone’s actually in the movie and probably should have asked Sony for a better-quality version that she could watch in the comfort of her own home!
Either way, Stone – who plays love interest Gwen Stacy in the film – saw the footage which will play ahead of “Captain America: The First Avenger” and screen in San Diego for Comic-Con. Her verdict? It’s amazing (natch!)
“It’s pretty cool, but maybe I’m a little biased,” she tells MTV News. “We’ll see how people respond to it.”
Stone was busy talking about Warner’s “Crazy Stupid Love,” and is about to start promoting her work in Disney’s adaptation of “The Help,” but couldn’t keep from discussing her prep work for Webb’s “Spider-Man” movie.
“I read a comprehensive book on the Stacys, and a few of the comics,” she explained. “Gwen is, I think, maybe a little different in the movie than in the comics. We’re kind of staying true to the comics and also building our own thing. I hope people respond to it!”
Well, Sony needs to show it. And not just a terrible, bootlegged copy of it. We need an HD clip. And soon! Let’s hope.

“Spider-Man” villain photographed on set

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Set photos have been pouring in from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Heck, we even saw YouTube videos of the crime-fighting web spinner swinging from a New York City bridge. Will there be any surprises left by the time this anticipated blockbuster rolls into theaters next summer?
Well, up until this point, the film’s official villain hadn’t been spotted. Rhys Ifans plays Dr. Curt Connors in the film … and as we all know from reading Spidey’s comic books, Connors goes on to become the savage Lizard.
This morning, set photos shot by J. Anthony Hall and posted to his Twitter feed reveal Ifans as Connors talking to Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. We’ve got it below.
How do we know that’s Connors? Look at the green sleeve he’s wearing on his arm. In the comics, Connors has lost a limb, and its his experiments geared toward regenerating his missing arm that eventually turn him into The Lizard.
ComingSoon also collected a handful of on-set shots capturing Garfield, Emma Stone (as Gwen Stacy) and Martin Sheen as Parker’s Uncle Ben.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” reaches theaters on July 3, 2012 … you know, if there’s anything left to see!

Spider-Man scribe snared for sequel

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Do you think Sony/Coljmbia has faith in what James Vanderbilt was able to do with the anticipated Spider-Man reboot currently being filmed by director Marc Webb?
The screenwriter received a serious vote off confidence when the studio recently hired him to begin penning a planned sequel … even before “The Amazing Spider-Man” wraps or reaches theaters.
Vanderbilt “had a meeting with the Spider-Man filmmakers and studio execs yesterday outlining his take, getting a thumbs up, and will now begin writing,” THR reports.
The current production is expected to wrap its filming in mid-April. It stars “Social Network” collaborator Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen Stacy.
Webb’s “Amazing Spider-Man” will be in theaters on July 3, 2012. Now we’re left to wonder if it will conclude with a tease for the second movie, or possibly set up a trilogy like Sam Raimi recently attempted.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield in first-look “Spider-Man” pics

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: By the time Marc Webb’s “Spider-Man” finally arrives in theaters in July 2012, gossip-hungry fans who have followed every scrap of information will know EXACTLY what to expect.
That’s because Webb’s anticipated blockbuster lives under a microscope reserved for special, geek-saliva-worthy projects. And so we endure months of casting rumors, villain speculation, and – now – set pics that leak costume decisions, character appearances, and more.
Want to be surprised by “Spider-Man” when it opens? Stay far away. But for the rest of us, Just Jared has a first look at Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as star-crossed teenage lovers Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.
Now, they may be sharing a kiss, but comic readers know things are about to get dangerous for these two. Bring on those pictures! Until then, here’s a link to Just Jared, which appears to have a direct pipeline to Webb’s “Spider-Man” set … seriously, is the site run by Sony?
Webb’s “Spider-Man” will open in 3D on July 3, 2012.

“Spider-Man” set photos show Emma Stone in the rain

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The rain in Spain falls mainly on Gwen Stacy.
At least, that’s what the first set photos from Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot show us. Posted over on Just Jared, the pics of a blonde Emma Stone appear to show her character – Spider-Man’s love interest Gwen Stacy – attending a funeral in a downpour. Is it Uncle Ben’s funeral? Or perhaps Gwen’s father, Capt. Stacy, who’s being played by Denis Leary in the film? Both characters suffer cruel deaths in the Spider-Man comics. Will Webb rely on either? Both? Neither?!
Too many questions. Here’s an answer or two. The pictures were taken in Los Angeles on Stone’s first day of production, which was Wednesday. Though her co-stars weren’t on set, Stone appears in Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Sally Field, Martin Sheen and Leary, to name a few.
Filmed in 3D, Spider-Man will be in theaters July 2012.
