Randy Jackson is bringing Mariah to “Idol” to join him as a judge

HollywoodNews.com: Exclusive: Well, I wrote this more than a week ago, but I’ll tell you again. Randy Jackson, the original “American Idol” judge, manages Mariah Carey. He’s also producing her new album. On Tuesday this past week, Randy flew out to the Hamptons by helicopter from New York to see Mariah for a couple of hours. He was in the city promoting his new line of watches for HSN, which debuted last night.
Randy is bringing Mariah to “Idol” to join him as a judge. It’s the perfect situation. They can finish their album, and Mariah can settle in for a couple of years, hopefully, as her twins are in their formative years. “Idol” will keep her close to home. Plus, when said allbum is released, it will give her an automatic platform from which to launch and promote it.
Now here’s the newest news: The first single from the album, I am told, is a song called “Triumphant.” When all the “Idol” contracts are signed, and the deal is finalized, both Randy and Mariah will be exactly that–Triumphant. And “American Idol” will be a fun show to watch again. Unlike Jennifer Lopez, Mariah can sing, sing, sing. No doubt we’ll hear a lot of warbling from the judges’ table.
Now we’ll have two members of the same family on competing reality-singing shows because Nick Cannon, Mariah’s hubby, host “America’s Got Talent.” The Carey-Cannons have talent, too!

James Marsden in the Spotlight at Savannah Film Fest

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: James Marsden moved to Los Angeles when he was 19 to pursue a career in acting. He’s currently 38.
“So I just realized that I’ve been doing this for half of my life, exactly,” Marsden told me during a casual one-on-one Friday evening.
Those years spent honing his craft explain why organizers at the Savannah Film Festival chose Marsden as the recipient of this year’s Spotlight Award, which was handed to him on stage at Trustees Theater prior to the Director’s Choice screening. A montage of clips highlighting Marsden’s work emphasized his range: Stoic superhero in the “X-Men” trilogy; Easter Bunny guardian in “Hop;” exuberant dance-show host in “Hairspray,” and; henpecked husband pushed to the brink in “Straw Dogs.”
“You won’t find more polar opposites than that,” he says with a laugh. “I do think I have been afforded the opportunity to play in a number of different sandboxes.”
Marsden started acting professionally in 1993. He received ample amounts of support from family and friends. “In the luck department,” he tells me, “everything sort of lined up for me. I didn’t have to go and get an agent. My father knew somebody who was a casting director before I moved to L.A., so I had representation when I moved there. I had two parents who were extremely supportive of me. That’s really lucky. And then beyond that, you have to be prepared, have an ability, and perseverance. You just kind of have to get it, I guess.”
Marsden gets it. He has worked consistently since starting in 1993, balancing TV gigs with feature films. Yet the actor says he never really felt like he “belonged” to the professional acting community until recently.
“I’ve always believed that as soon as you get comfortable, you’re done,” he said. “I’ve come to terms with that a little bit as I’ve gotten older. I’ll tell myself, ‘OK. You’re going to find work. You’re going to be fine.’ But as an actor, you can go at any time. And that drives you, too, that one day you can wake up and they’ll say, ‘OK, we’re done with you. We’ve seen everything.’ And thinking of that is a nightmare. Realistically, I think I’ve gotten to a point where I can relax.”
Not too much, though. He has five films in the pipeline, including the recently wrapped “Robot and Frank” and the 2012 comedy “As Cool [...]

HollywoodNews.com: Bruce Willis is probably one of the biggest names when it comes to action heroes, so it seems only appropriate that he dole out a few tips to those who want to follow in his footsteps.
He informed fans that it’s important for an action hero to not take themselves too seriously, but also to follow the set of values needed in being a hero, states Digital Spy.
He also let people know that not only does a hero have to be good to friends and animals, but also “kind to the director,” and “be able to cry on camera.”
And apparently the one big secret of action heroes is “maybe wear no underwear.”
Who do you think is the best action hero?

Skillet’s ‘Awake’ becomes certified gold by the RIAA

HollywoodNews.com: In a fast and furious 10 months, “Awake,” the latest album from Atlantic recording group Skillet, has been certified gold by the RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000. The album – which includes two Active Rock radio blockbusters in the top 5 hit, “Monster,” and the top 12 smash, “Hero” – continues to reign as a hard rock favorite, standing strong in the upper half of the Billboard 200. The band is also set to release their next single and video for “Awake & Alive” in the coming weeks.
Produced by Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Flyleaf), Awake reached the #1 spot on the iTunes Store’s “Top Albums” chart within 24 hours of its release last August. The album also made a blockbuster debut on the SoundScan/Billboard 200, entering the chart at #2.
Skillet’s headline tours ranked with Pollstar’s Concert Pulse Top 50 Tours and recently landed the band on the cover of the magazine. In addition, the band has shared stages with such like-minded acts as Flyleaf, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Seether, and Puddle of Mudd.
“Hero,” the stirring second single from Awake, has received an array of high-profile placements, including THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 video game. Various tracks from Awake have received major TV placements including NBC Sunday Night Football, NBC’s “The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania” and MTV’s “Bully Beatdown.”
In addition to cumulative album sales now approaching 2 million, Skillet has racked up a wide range of honors throughout their extraordinary career, including multiple Grammy nominations and two BMI Music Award wins for “The Last Night” and “The Older I Get,” both featured on the gold certified Comatose.
Skillet have also announced plans to join forces and destroy crowds across the US with their Monsters of Annihilation tour with Papa Roach, beginning October 1st in Myrtle Beach, SC at The House of Blues. “We’ve become good friends with Skillet over the past couple years and are excited to jump on the road with them. Having both Papa Roach and Skillet together on one stage, you best believe we’re going to burn it down!!! Get ready for total stage annihilation,” says Papa Roach front man Jacoby Shaddix.

T.I. lends his vocals to Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It”

HollywoodNews.com: Enrique Iglesias’ new summer hit “I Like It” has gotten a new verse from the King of the South, T.I.!
Iglesias returns his eagerly-anticipated new album, Euphoria. With its seductive pop, driving hip hop beats and heart of pure passion, Euphoria is set to bring a rush of blood to the dancefloor, with VIP guests including Akon, Nicole Scherzinger, Usher, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel, Juan Luis Guerra and the legendary Lionel Richie.
His most diverse, eclectic collection to date, Euphoria is also Enrique’s first album to feature songs sung in both Spanish and English. “This territory is so exciting for me,” says Enrique. “It taps into so many different styles of music. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before.”
‘I Like It’ is the first international single from the forthcoming album, produced by Red One, it features a vocal cameo from Lionel Richie, reprising the chorus of his timeless hit ‘All Night Long’. The track is an upbeat floor-filler and comes backed with a crazy hot remix from #1 selling US rapper Pitbull (‘I Know You Want Me’). Enrique was thrilled to work with his friend Lionel Richie, but it was Pitbull who really took it out of him. “Man, working with Pitbull, it’s like he’s got everybody in the world’s mojo, his energy is so intense. And shooting the video together was just insane… ”
Other tracks on Euphoria include Enrique’s Spanish-language smash ‘Cuando Me Enamoro’, featuring Latin superstar Juan Luis Guerra, which crash landed in top 10s across Latin America and Spain on its release. Then there’s the sizzling ‘Heartbeat’, a duet with Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. It’s utterly pop but emotionally naked. Says Enrique, “If you can create an upbeat song and still put sentiment in it like that… man, that song is raw.”
‘One Day At A Time’, is a departure into mellow calypso, the melody coming to Enrique after he had spent so long battling on the song that he was driving home from the studio in despair. “I turned straight round and went back to record it,” explains the perfectionist. “It was one of those special songs that make you fight for it.” ‘Dirty Dancer’ is a party piece, thick with slamming synthesisers and featuring vocals from Usher, who announces that this is a song “for the dirty girls, all around the world.”

Henry Winkler’s ‘Royal Pains’ Character Mysterious Even to Him

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
hollywoodnews.com: Henry Winkler says even he doesn’t know whether his new series character — Eddie, the mysterious wayward father on the USA Network’s “Royal Pains” — is a good-hearted finagler or someone more sinister.
Eddie was talked about last season by his estranged sons (Mark Feuerstein and Paulo Costanzo) on the popular series about a concierge doctor to the very rich. Viewers know that, thanks to his gullible younger son, Eddie has taken money from their HankMed company and claims he’ll give it back. On Thursday’s (6/10) episode, he’ll get even deeper into his sons’ world.
“I was invited into the writers’ room to chat about the character. Nobody knew who Eddie was; they had an impression of him,” Winkler tells us. “We talked about him a little bit. Now he grows as we watch the dailies. I’ve found that is true of certain characters. That happened with The Fonz, and with Barry Zuckerhorn,” he says, referring, of course, to his iconic “Happy Days” character and to his ineffectual, disinterested lawyer in “Arrested Development.”
Winkler doesn’t know how many episodes of “Royal Pains” he’ll wind up doing. He does know he’s grown very fond of his onscreen offspring – Feuerstein, who “has more energy than 25 human beings and just astonishing creativity,” and Costanzo, who “is sensitive, funny, a genius at improvisation. You never know where your scene is going to go with him.”
The beloved star has been headquartering in New York with wife Stacey while doing “Royal Pains” – but he’s also been traveling much of the time, as media spokesperson for a therapeutic use of Botox for upper limb spasticity, and on book tour appearances on behalf of his and Lin Oliver’s 17th and final Hank Zipzer kids’ tome. In it, our learning-challenged hero at long last finds his key to success as he gets into performing arts school with none other than prolific producer-director Garry Marshall as his mentor.
