Another cohost cut from ‘The Talk’

HollywoodNews.com: ‘The Talk’ is undergoing some major changes and that includes losing one more cohost from the CBS show.
Holly Robinson Peete has reportedly been let go from the show although she doesn’t exactly know why, states E! News. “I’ve been around long enough in this business to know that, sometimes, you don’t get a reason. You just pick up and keep moving,” Robinson Peete commented.
Now, the actress and host is just looking to move on and hopefully with daytime TV as she had really started to enjoy it.
Why do you think she was fired?

CBS’ “The Talk” mess: Sharon Osbourne cuts back and two hosts exit

HollywoodNews.com: It’s a mess at CBS’s “The Talk,” the struggling replacement for “As the World Turns.” What’s going on backstage is worse than a soap opera. I am told varying things about the second season status of co host Sharon Osbourne — a source says she will come and go over the first 14 weeks, but her time will add up just to 8 weeks. Another source says she’ll do six weeks and exit completely. In any case, viewers will see a lot less of her when the new season begins on September 6th.
Other outlets have already reported that co hosts Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini, who were popular and brought audience from their sitcoms, are out. It’s true. Sources say feelers have gone out to Kirstie Alley, Brooke Shields, and Lauren Sanchez as possible replacements.
A lot of the blame for so much acrimony is aimed at main host Julie Chen. One reason is that host of “Big Brother” and former anchor of “The CBS Early Show” is married to Les Moonves, head of CBS, and is an easy target.
Chen has become a lightning rod for controversy backstage. It’s ironic, too, since “The Talk” is tangled in incestuous relationships: Holly Robinson married football star Rodney Peete sixteen years ago at the Brentwood, California home of Les Moonves and his first wife, Nancy. Moonves’s attorney brother, Jonathan, represents Chen, Remini, and current exec producer Jonathan Redmann.

Tori Spelling is trying to create unique weddings with husband

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
HollywoodNews.com: Will adventurous, tradition-busting themed weddings bloom into vogue in coming months? They will if Tori Spelling’s and Dean McDermott’s hopes for their forthcoming “Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings” show come to pass. “I think a lot of weddings that planners throw are very cookie-cutterish,” Tori complains. “They’re all the same after awhile.”
The weddings she and Dean help put on in their April 6-debuting Oxygen series are anything but same old, same old.
“My favorite was, we did a Marie Antoinette wedding — a party, a ball. This couple was very into fashion. We did it at the Vibiana downtown, which was great because the architecture there allowed us to do a cool modern take on the theme, which is all about abundance and excess,” says Tori, who certainly is one to know of such things.
Dean says his favorite was “The steampunk wedding we did at the Edison (Lounge, also in Downtown Los Angeles). It’s Victorian age-meets-Industrial Revolution….We had aerial acrobats as entertainment.”
Tori and Dean insist that their weddings were carried out on surprisingly modest budgets, though she declines to give figures. “I don’t know if we’re supposed to say. Our wedding budgets vary, but none of them were extravagant. We’re not like other wedding shows where they rely on big budgets. Dean and I made everything ourselves, and we have favors we can call in from florists, jewelers and other businesses.” Not to mention those no doubt lining up to offer their goods and services for promotional considerations.
Of course, there are those who will assume that once the cameras were turned off, Tori and Dean put down their staple guns and headed home while their people got the job done.
“We do all the work,” she responds firmly. “For the Indian wedding we did, I think the night before we were up ’til 3 a.m., literally dressing the room for a 10 a.m. wedding. I’m such a micro manager and a control freak, I’d never let anyone do it for me. I never believe anyone else would do as good a job.”
She admits, “It was hard, doing the eight weddings in the time period we had. That was our lives. The kids came with us and stayed at the hotels where we working. They got used to it. [...]

Justin Bieber has a problem with his hair being touched

HollywoodNews.com: Justin Bieber has some pretty famous hair, but nobody better touch it or he might get upset.
Bieber recently appeared on ‘The Talk’ and had a bit of an awkward moment, states HollywoodLife. At one point host Holly Robinson Peete tries to put the show’s baseball cap on him and it doesn’t go well.
“No, no, no. Don’t touch my hair,” Bieber reportedly said and quickly pushed the hat away. As he tried to fix his famous hair, he allegedly looked a bit upset.
Sounds like Bieber is as in love with his hair as his fans are.
Do you think Justin Bieber should have put on the hat?

Leah Remini on the progress of ‘The Talk’

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
HollywoodNews.com: Leah Remini’s happy with the progress of “The Talk” — what with CBS already renewing the fledgling chat show on which Leah is featured along with Julie Chen, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Sara Gilbert. However, the admittedly self-critical funny lady is quick to say, “It’s still a work in progress. We stay after the show and talk about where we can improve. We’ve only been on since October,” she reminds.
Asked how it is to do the show compared to how she thought it would be, Remini admits in her charmingly convoluted style, “What I thought at first about what it was, it was going to be not as hard. It is hard to do a live show every day. I thought I’d be able to just walk in and go, ‘Hi, what are we talking about?’ ‘Let’s go home now.’ There is much more mental work in preparing than I expected.”
Yes, she’s felt burnout. “Holly and I sit in her room and go, ‘Wow, man.’ You’re just drained. But the next day, we’re good again,” she adds. “We’re talking about something fun, or something in the news we have a take on, or something we really want to share with people — and we’re re-energized by that.”
She’s enjoying the company of her “Talk” show mates and their fun chemistry — a big plus. She feels their celebrity interviews “are still missing something” — a small minus.
“I can’t put my finger on it. I’m glad that we always get something more, something different, from them besides whatever the thing is they’re there to promote,” she says.
Leah acknowledges it’s not easy juggling the show’s demands and her family life with six-year-old daughter Sofia and husband Angelo Pagan. Sofia has come to the set, and will come when Justin Bieber guests. “I think I’m just going to call the school and tell the truth. I can’t make her stay away when she has a chance to meet him.”
Leah’s “The Talk” deal called for a new sitcom to be developed for her at the network, but there’ve been hitches. Obviously, working eight hours a day on “The Talk” doesn’t leave much time for other professional pursuits. “I’m up at 5:30 to be at work by 7:30. [...]

Sara Gilbert discusses being out on ‘The Talk’

By Greg Hernandez
HollywoodNews.com: “Roseanne” alum Sara Gilbert has played many different characters as an actress. But in her new CBS daytime show “The Talk,” she’ll be herself – something that seems a little daunting to the actress who is one of six co-hosts on the show as well as executive producer.
At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Wednesday, Gilbert was asked if she thought it would be easier to succeed as a lesbian in daytime television thanks to the road paved by Ellen DeGeneres.
“I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t really ever think of things as out or in. I just think I am who I am and when topics come up that are appropriate, I’ll talk about them share when it seems right.”
Julie Chen, one of the other hosts who seems to be the panel’s moderator, interjected: “You probably don’t know the answer to that right now. Because once we get on the air, you’re probably going to see how much press there is about ‘Sara Gilbert’ is a lesbian.’ And then you probably can answer that a little more accurately I would think. It’s a whole new journey.”
One reporter tried to gauge just how comfortable Gilbert is about her personal life since in the initial press release announcing the show, the husbands of Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remni and Marissa Jaret Winokur were all mentioned but Gilbert’s partner Allison Adler was not.
“That came from me,” she said. “CBS would have written whatever I wanted. I’ve been acting my whole life, and I’ve never really discussed my personal life. This is a talk show. so obviously I’m going to be discussing my life more and I felt that the first place that I wanted to do it wasn’t in a CBS press release. It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I’d rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here [at press tour].”
