TLC and Roma Downey team up on “ANSWERED PRAYERS”

TLC explores modern-day miracles with ANSWERED PRAYERS, an all-new series hosted by celebrated actress and producer Roma Downey (‘The Bible Series,’ ‘Son of God,’ ‘AD,’ ‘Touched by an Angel’). Premiering Sunday, July 26 at 10/9c, this six-part series follows the remarkable stories of people in life-threatening situations who have experienced moments so inexplicable, so incredible that they can only be described as divine intervention.
Using a blend of heart-wrenching interviews, thrilling recreations and dramatic real footage, each hour-long episode paints a vivid portrait of ordinary people who have faced extraordinary circumstances?and miraculously lived to tell the tale. Each individual?s unwavering faith and trust in the power of prayer has transformed potentially heartbreaking situations into stories of true inspiration?from a young boy buried for hours under eleven feet of sand, to the horror of a pastor stabbed 37 times, to a family that survives their car plunging upside down into an icy river bank.
The premiere episode introduces viewers to two amazing families. An Indiana mother hears the voice of God telling her to prepare for a possibly devastating storm and protect her three children. She acts on her instinct and huddles in a closet with her husband and kids?mere moments before a tornado rips through their home, hurling it hundreds of feet through the air. Though she loses hold of her family, she never gives up faith that God will keep them safe, even if she can?t. Next, in Florida a young boy suffers a horrific lawnmower accident. Distraught, his parents make the agonizing decision to have his leg amputated, but pray for a sign they are doing the right thing. On the day of the operation, what their son sees on the ride to the hospital could be the answer to their prayers and may change his life for good.
With authenticity, insight, compassion and heart, the astounding stories featured on ANSWERED PRAYERS will leave even the most skeptical viewer considering if a divine force was at work.

INSIDE OUT / Cannes World Premiere Images and New Film Clips

Chief Creative Officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios John Lasseter, director Pete Doctor, producer Jonas Rivera, co-director Ronnie Del Carmen and US voice cast Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith and Lewis Black delighted attendees at today’s press conference for INSIDE OUT during the 68th annual annual Cannes Film Festival. They were then joined by the French voice cast for the world premiere!

Based in Headquarters, the control center inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind, five Emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), whose mission is to make sure Riley stays happy. Fear (voice of Bill Hader) heads up safety, Anger (voice of Lewis Black) ensures all is fair and Disgust (voice of Mindy Kaling) prevents Riley from getting poisoned—both physically and socially. Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith) isn’t exactly sure what her role is, and frankly, neither is anyone else.
When Riley’s family relocates to a scary new city, the Emotions are on the job, eager to help guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Joy and Sadness must venture through unfamiliar places—Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions—in a desperate effort to get back to Headquarters, and Riley.
Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.”, “Up”), produced by Jonas Rivera, p.g.a. (“Up”) and featuring an original score by Michael Giacchino (“The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “Up”), Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out” opens in theaters on June 19, 2015.

Nikki Finke is back!

Nikki Finke returns and unveils her next project:
“Best known as Editor-in-Chief Emeritus and Founder of Deadline Hollywood, veteran journalist Nikki Finke is an authority on the business, politics and culture of the entertainment industry. Now, on May 18, 2015, she has announced the founding of the new innovative website to showcase her own and other insiders’ showbiz-based fiction writing.” – See more at:
As per own words:
Not since F. Scott Fitzgerald, John O’Hara and more recently Michael Tolkin and Bruce Wagner have knowledgeable writers tackled showbiz in short fiction or succeeded in getting paid for it. Now add my name to the list about to try that – and I invite Hollywood movie and TV writers, executives, journalists, critics and authors to join me.
I’m starting an innovative website called (The teaser is there.) What is it? Here’s my definition: Hollywood Dementia: noun. Deterioration of intellectual faculties, such as memory, concentration, and judgment, sometimes accompanied by emotional disturbance and personality changes, resulting from an organic disease or a disorder of the brain acquired while working in the entertainment industry that causes someone to be unable to think clearly or to understand what is real and what is not real.
My website will present short stories, novellas and novel excerpts written by Hollywood insiders like myself. After 30 years as a journalist, I’m now going to expose the hard truths and gritty reality of showbiz through creative writing. In fiction, I can be more honest than just sticking to facts. The stories which I and others write won’t depict any actual Hollywood person or event. But they will marry artifice with verisimilitude into original content creation.
I don’t care if the site gets little traffic or The Powers That Be ever advertise. Instead, I’m setting up a TinyPass paywall and charging readers $1 for each post and paying writers from the proceeds once a month. I want to create a fiction forum not just for my own work but for all the creative writing talent which Hollywood attracts but rarely nurtures. I will run the website as well as write for it and market each fictional story to my 265,000+ Twitter followers.
Finke plans to start posting by the end of June. She is accepting fiction submissions of about 2,500 to 8,000 words. She’s also looking for illustrators. Per usual, she invites you to “Come for the […]

Prayer Partners: Christians in Hollywood–Part 3

Over the years, Doug Millham of Pasadena has often hung around movie and TV sets, where he has met all sorts of people working in the entertainment industry. He said he has come to view them as “gypsies.”
“I call them gypsies because they’re always going from job to job, whether it dancing or performing. It’s very difficult,” the retired Presbyterian minister told HollywoodNews. “Those who choose it need a lot of support. You know, it’s glamorous, but for ninety-nine percent, the industry uses you and discards you when the next younger, prettier person comes along….I can see why drug abuse, marital problems and family issues bubble up all the time.”
For more than two decades, Millham has asked numerous people working in entertainment if he could say a private prayer with them.
“I’ve prayed with Muslims, I’ve prayed with Jewish people and I’ve asked nonbelievers if I can pray with them…,” he recalled. “And I’ve never been rejected.”
Millham, 67, is a volunteer “prayer partner” who regularly keeps in touch with a network of actors, directors, producers, writers and others who ask him to pray for them. They may be facing a crisis in their personal life, be an actor gearing up for an important casting call, or a producer or screenwriter seeking God’s guidance in their next creative pursuits.
“The industry is incredibly competitive and it can be very demoralizing to people whether you are a person or faith or not,” Millham said. “You’re going to be in competition with enormously talented people most of the time and you’ll get an awful lot of rejection and criticism. I think the attraction (of prayer) to people of faith, whether they’re Jewish, Muslim or Christian, is that we believe there is a higher power, an eternal source of comfort and calm (that provides) direction in our lives. And I think prayer is a calming factor for people who work in a profession with constant anxiety.”
Married and the father of two grown sons, Millham is a former pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church. He is now semi-retired, spending much of his time running a Pasadena-based nonprofit called Discover the World, which raises money for orphans in Africa—specifically providing care for children who have been orphaned as a result of losing parents to AIDS.
“We have about 600 orphans we’ve placed in school,” he said. “I travel back and forth to Africa on a […]

Michelle Obama: Bring Back Our Girls – No More Abuse of Women

“What happened in Nigeria was not an isolated incident. It’s a story we see every day as girls around the world risk their lives to pursue their ambitions… I want you to know that Barack has directed our government to do everything possible to support the Nigerian government’s efforts to find these girls and bring them home. In these girls, Barack and I see our own daughters. We see their hopes, their dreams, and we can only imagine the anguish their parents are feeling right now,” said Michelle Obama.
It looks like the world is waking up to the brutal abuse of women worldwide. We must unite to make sure that men stop using, abusing and killing them.
Make no mistake, this is a violent struggle that will last for decades, if not centuries. Many people around the world, due to their beliefs, accept women has being property of men.
Words and temporary PR campaigns won’t do it. A full commitment by people, organizations and governments together with active implementation of police and military law and order must be deployed to stop these horrific acts against women.
Below Michelle Obama speech.

No more violence against women. This is 2014 NOT the 1500s.
