HollywoodNews.com stays on top of the latest releases so you know which films are worth your time and money. This week, we recommend:

The Hurt Locker: An Oscar frontrunner, as well as one of the best-reviewed films from 2009, Kathryn Bigelow’s adrenalized “The Hurt Locker” follows a close-knit band of bomb diffusers as they toil in war-torn Iraq. Jeremy Renner’s unforgettable as suicidal bomb technician Staff Sgt. William James, while Bigelow earns credit for milking tensions and ratcheting up the thrills. Summit Entertainment’s new “Locker” DVD comes with an audio commentary track, a “Behind the Scenes” feature and an image gallery.

Moon: Duncan Jones’ impressive feature-film debut strands a lonely astronaut (Sam Rockwell) at a sterile lunar headquarters and gradually messes with his reality – as well as ours. Jones is David Bowie’s son, and “Moon” proves he inherited his father’s gift for storytelling, as well as his fascination with (and fear of) outer space’s solitude. Look for multiple interviews, a visual-effects reel, conversations from the Sundance Film Festival, two audio commentary tracks (Jones appears on both) and a traditional “Making of” clip on the new “Moon” DVD.

In the Loop: A war spoof worthy of Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove,” the UK import “In the Loop” recalls “The Office” (and its British predecessor), except instead of selling harmless paper products, the incompetents placed in positions of power are declaring war in the Middle East. The humor in “Loop” is witty and dry, and the cast – which includes James Gandolfini and Anna Chlumsky – embraces director Armando Iannucci’s rat-a-tat pacing. Deleted scenes and a “Making of” round out the thin bonus features.

The Brothers Bloom: Con artist brothers played by Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody target Rachel Weisz’s reclusive (and wealthy) mark in Rian Johnson’s clever and quirky “The Brothers Bloom.” Sometimes goofy yet always original, “Bloom” marches to the beat of its own drum, yet Weisz is fantastic and most will enjoy not only the rhythm but the ride. DVD extras include a commentary track, storyboards, deleted scenes and a “Making of” reel.

10 Things I Hate About You: We’re still saying goodbye to Heath Ledger, this time by revisiting one of his earliest performances. In this loose adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” Ledger plays a rebel hired by to seduce an uptight beauty (Julia Stiles). The fresh-faced cast is filled with currently thriving talents, from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David Krumholtz to Allison Janney and Gabrielle Union.
A few cast members stop by for a retrospective reel on the anniversary DVD, where you’ll also find deleted scenes, an audio commentary track, and a digital copy of the film for your portable devices.
