Jackson lawyer denies Michael’s “self-detructive” motives

HollywoodNews.com: For the upcoming Michael Jackson trial, allegations have become more and more sensationalized in the interest of defending the interests of the parties involved. Jackson’s former lawyer on his media circus, child molestation case, has come out against a potential argument for the defense. Many have alleged that the defense will try and argue that Michale Jackson was suicidal, but Michael’s former lawyer says that those claims are false.
Thomas Meserau, MJ’s former lawyer has come out declaring that the singer was “not suicidal.” Meserau went on to say, “the defense lawyers have to do something and what they’re gonna try and do is reflect attention away from their client and onto Michael Jackson.”
Although it is not ultimately unclear what the defense’s strategy will be, reports have said that they may argue it was unintentional, but that it was still Jackson who improperly administered himself the Propofol, reports TMZ.

New plans for Jackson’s Neverland Ranch announced

HollywoodNews.com: Following Michael Jackson’s tragic passing, the owners of Jackson’s former safehaven, Neverland Ranch, have proposed turning the ranch into a small music institute for teenagers, similar to the Julliard school in New York City.
The plan asks to make an institute that would educate kids on all aspects of making music, everything from songwriting to production to performance. Colony Capital, the owners of the ranch, would like to turn it into a campus for kids from all walks of life to enjoy.
Two giant hurdles still remain, first, whether or not Santa Barbara county will sign off on something of this nature and secondly, whether they could use the Michael Jackson name to promote the institute. Sources say that the second hurdle may be more easily overcome than expected. Sources say that Jackson’s estate may be willing to engage in talks. “It’s an interesting idea and we’d be open to it,” TMZ reports.

Michael Jackson’s lawyer: Michael “truly believed he could heal the world”

HollywoodNews.com: Michael Jackson’s lawyer is still defending his client even though he is in the grave, saying the singer was a “kind-hearted artist” who “truly believed he could heal the world”.
Tom Mesereau, who successfully represented the King of Pop in a 2005 sexual molestation trial, told CNN that he thinks Jackson was exploited and taken advantage of.
He said: “He [Jackson] was a very kind-hearted, gentle, sensitive, intuitive artist who truly believed he could heal the world in some positive way. He attracted one profiteer after another. There was loneliness, isolation, distrust. The cruellest thing of all was taking children and turning children against him.”
Mesereau was asked to represent the music legend by his family after being recommended by OJ Simpson’s former lawyer, Johnnie Cochran.
The 60-year-old lawyer revealed that he always believed he would win the case. He said: “I thought we were winning all along.”
Mesereau also criticised media coverage of the Jackson trial, saying: “Mountains were made out of molehills. “The case was characterised by crisis, shock and confusion.”

Randy Jackson avoids ‘Idol’ axe-tion

HollywoodNews.com: Randy Jackson came very close to being fired on “American Idol” in the latest round of judge beheadings.
However, “Idol” producers wanted to keep some familiarity on the panel, hence they spared Jackson.
Jackson is the only “Idol” judge from the series 2002 start to remain and the only judge of the four who served last season: Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres departed while Kara DioGuardi was axed.
The question remains whether there will be a fourth judge or not in the wake of Jennifer Lopez’s rumored hiring and Steven Tyler’s negotiations.
TMZ caught the buzz.

Pamela Anderson dislikes Janet Jackson in mink

HollywoodNews.com: Pamela Anderson is quite upset with Janet Jackson – and her beef is over mink.
Anderson is an animal rights activist and was heartbroken to learn that Jackson, a former supporter, is lending her image to mink collection BlackGlama.
“It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad.”
Jackson’s contract has rubbed PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) the wrong way as well.
Anderson’s next film is the comedy “Hollywood & Wine.”

Michael Jackson Had NO (Zero) Other Kids

By Roger Friedman
hollywoodnews.com: Contrary to nutty reports today–including one repeated on the site I created for Fox News in 1999– Michael Jackson had no other children besides the ones we know about, Prince, Paris, and Blanket.
Donte Williams Jackson, who lives in the Jackson family home, is generally considered to be the illegitimate offspring of Joseph Jackson. Joe has at least one other child not from his marriage to Katherine, JoVanni Jackson. She’s been acknowledged by Janet and lives in Las Vegas.
Donte might also be the son of Jermaine Jackson. But whoever he is, he is not the mystery child of Michael Jackson. Neither is Omer Bhatti, the sad Norwegian kid who Michael collected in 1996 in Tunisis when he was 12. Omer is the biological son of Riz and Pia Bhatti, who each worked for Jackson subsequently. Omer now cashes in on his Michael connection by doing shows as a Jackson imitator.
The Donte-is Michael’s kid was picked up by Fox411, sadly. I created that column in 1999 and named it. Now it’s used for regurgitated celebrity misinformation. Oh well.

Jackson Browne stops by at Oceana event to give acoustic set

By Roger Friedman
HollywoodNews.com: Jackson Browne, on tour, stopped at the Oceana event in Watermill on Saturday night and played a full acoustic set on guitar and keyboards, by himself. The songs included “Running on Empty,” “The Pretender,” “Before the Deluge,” and “Rock Me On the Water.” At the end, he said he no longer cared what people thought about the fact that he’d written the Eagles’ most famous song, “Take It Easy,” and played it.
Oceana is the brainchild of Lois Robbins and Susan Rockefeller, with Keith Addis, designed to raise money for ocean conservancy. Could anything be more timely? Caroline Hirsch, of Caroline’s Comedy Club., is also very involved, as are Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. I ran into Charlie Walk, Kathy Schenker, Jane Rose, Fred Davis, John Howard, Jill Brooke, and Jackson’s girlfriend, Dianna Cohen, an artist from L.A. who created a mural for Oceana with recyclable goods and a bunch of schoolkids from Barcelona.
Jackson told me after the show that he’d never heard a famous urban myth about the “Take it Easy” lyrics. For generations the line “I’m looking for a lover who won’t blow my cover” was mis-heard by young rockers as something else. Jackson demurred, and claimed not to know that. I’m a little skeptical. But he’s a serious guy. If you’re too young to know his work, check out his masterpiece album, “Late for the Sky.”
Out in Montauk–where the totally refurbished Panoramic View in Montauk graciously put me up on Friday and Saturday nights– the big stop was at Sean McPherson’s secret restaurant. the work in progress re-do of The Crow’s Nest. Sean co-owns the Waverly Inn in Greenwich Village.

Jackson Kids Go to Hawaii with Cousins, Not Official Guardians

By Roger Friedman
hollywoodnews.com: Michael Jackson’s kids–Prince, Paris, and Michael–are on a fun filled vacation in Hawaii.
However: they are not with their guardian, grandmother Katherine Jackson. She’s been busy in Indiana and in Beverly Hills commemorating the anniversary of Michael’s death.
So who’s with the kids? Their cousins, the sons of Tito Jackson, Taj and Taryll Jackson, and some bodyguards. Almost 37 and 35 years olld, the pair of cousins are fast becoming Michael’s kids surrogate dads, or big brothers. (Tito Jackson had his kids young–he’s only 56.)
The trip, which costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, is being paid for their father’s estate. And while no one begrudges the kids a vacation, it does raise the question in their custody: where are the adults?
The tabloids were so excited to get pictures of the kids, none of them stopped to ask what the heck was going on.

Not even nanny Grace Rwaramba is with them.

Mickey Rooney Serenades Michael Jackson Fans at Event, Corey Feldman Makes Speech

EXCLUSIVE FIRST REPORT
By Roger Friedman
hollywoodnews.com: Mickey Rooney serenaded the Michael Jackson fans at the Beverly Hilton tonight. The 85 year old entertainer was a child movie star.
Corey Feldman made a speech.
Genevieve Jackson, Randy’s daughter, performed. But Randy Jackson has made proclamations denouncing the whole event tonight.
Whatever. There was also supposed to be a performance by Marshall Thompson, the remaining member of the R&B group The Chi-Lites. Thompson has become Joseph Jackson’s bucket boy, following him around and saying he’s got a record label with Jackson.
Both Katherine and Joseph Jackson showed up. Katherine was supposed to sign copies of her book, “Never Can Say Goodbye.”
The money from the event at the Beverly Hilton is supposed to go to Jackson Family Foundation even though it doesn’t exist and has no registration for a 501 c3 designation. Insiders say the foundation organizers may try and use an existing foundation and merge with them, by passing regular registration.
Sources say tables were full and people are standing at the BHH ballroom. Tickets ranged from $105 to $500 VIP seats.
