Peter Facinelli to co-produce Whitey Bulger film

By Kim Palacios Just days after fugitive Massachusetts mob boss Whitey Bulger was captured after more than 15 years on the run, it was announced that actor/writer/producer Peter Facinelli (“The Twilight Saga” films, “Nurse Jackie”) will co-produce a film adaptation of “Street Soldier: My Life as an Enforcer For Whitey Bulger and the Boston Irish Mob,” a book by Edward MacKenzie and Phyllis Karas. In what seems like a well-timed coincidence, Facinelli Films ironed out the final details of the deal with Brookstreet Pictures just days (if not hours) before the notorious mobster was found in Santa Monica. Facinelli and his producing partner Robert DeFranco had purchased rights to the book some nine months before.
The film is expected to tell the story of Bulger’s rise to power and the events leading to his disappearance. Said Facinelli to The Wrap, “We’d like to get it going as quickly as possible. We have a script and everything ready.”
