The Hollywood Film Awards Series: James Corden is the HFA host, but who will be Oscar’s?

With the recent announcement that James Corden was going to be the host of the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards, I was struck by two notions. One was that it was a perfect reason to have another installment in the Hollywood Film Awards Series that we’ve been doing here, but also that it was an excuse to ponder who the Academy might choose to host the Oscars. Corden is an excellent choice for the Hollywood Film Awards and is a real get (much like Queen Latifah was the last time around for them), so the Academy Awards will have to try hard to top that pick. It’s doable, but the producers for the Oscars will have to really make an effort this time around. In honor of that, I figured I’d help and consider some names that might be worth sniffing around and offering the gig to…
Basically, what I’m going to do today is show you a few different categories that the producers could separate potential host candidates into. Believe me when I say that I don’t have an exhaustive list below for you, but what I have is a grab back that shows some of the possible avenues. So far, it’s anyone’s guess who the powers that be are partial to, but some rumors have thrown about names like Ellen DeGeneres and/or Steve Martin among former hosts, as well as the likes of Steve Carell and Justin Timberlake. I’ve included those names below, but among a handful of others alongside them.
The first grouping that I think is possible consists of former hosts. There’s the aforementioned Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Martin, but you’d have to also put Billy Crystal on that list as well. I’m not sure that this is the best way to go, but it’s the safest way to go. You can also look to Jon Stewart as another possible candidate among this grouping, though it remains to be seen if this is something he’d ever be interested in doing again. If he is, he’d be my pick of this litter, but given the choice, I’d shy away from a returning champion, as it were. There are more interesting choices elsewhere.
Next up is the obvious grouping of comedians/late night hosts, who are always under consideration. This list would include the likes of Louis C.K., Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Amy Schumer. You never know how the […]

Katie Holmes still pushing for ‘Dawson’s Creek’ reunion

HollywoodNews.com: Fans would certainly like to see a ‘Dawson’s Creek’ reunion, and if Katie Holmes has her way then there will likely be one.
Holmes spoke with Jimmy Fallon about wanting to get back together with the cast to see what would happen, states UsMagazine.com. “I love everyone from the show. We have kind of talked about it here and there. But we’re like, ‘What do you do?’ Because [in] our last episode, Michelle’s character passed away…I don’t know…Maybe we’ll go on vacation — that [would] be fun — and just film it!” Holmes commented.
It has previously been rumored that a reunion might happen, but that Tom Cruise was keeping Holmes from joining in.

Lindsay Lohan’s surprise ‘Jimmy Fallon’ appearance

HollywoodNews.com: Lindsay Lohan is trying to get out there to promote ‘Liz & Dick,’ and she did so last night with an odd appearance on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.’
Lohan appeared on the show in an all-white outfit and a bob wig to play the game “Let Us Play With Your Look,” states RadarOnline. In the skit, she made over an audience member by putting mousse in his hair.
However, that was the extent of it for the actress as she left after the bit.
“I want to say thank you to the great Lindsay Lohan for helping us out! She’s awesome,” Fallon said at the end.

Jimmy Fallon passes on hosting next year’s Oscars

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: It’s a coveted gig. And yet, despite rumors that he’d be interested, Jimmy Fallon confirmed today that he will not be hosting the Academy Awards earlier next year.
“I’m not going to do the Oscars,” Fallon told Matt Lauer during a “Today” show interview. “I was honored to be asked by the Academy, but it’s not my year.”
That’s unfortunate. Fallon has been an eager and energetic host for the MTV Movie Awards and the Primetime Emmys. Granted, those shows aren’t quite the event that the Academy Awards turn out to be, but they are good training grounds for the Oscars, and Fallon appeared to pass “the test” with flying colors.
So Academy President Tom Sherak is back to square one. There’s time. This is nowhere near as dire of a situation as when Eddie Murphy dropped out of the hosting position in support of his producer Brett Ratner during a particularly turbulent time in last year’s preparations.
So if not Fallon, then whom? Would you like to see Oscar go back to a familiar face? Or like they did with Anne Hathaway and James Franco (or considered with Murphy), would you like to see them go in a completely different direction? When we last opened this up for discussion, the name we heard suggested over and over again was Emma Stone, who has proven herself a winning presenter at previous awards shows (including the Oscars).
Does she have what it takes to host? Let us know your thoughts.

Russell Brand set to host MTV Movie Awards

HollywoodNews.com: Russell Brand has been pretty successful, although controversial, in hosting the MTV Video Music Awards, so he seems like a good choice to take on the MTV Movie Awards.
Brand will reportedly be hosting the awards show that will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City on June 3rd, states UsMagazine.com. Previous hosts for the show have included Jason Sudeikis, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.
“This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than ‘The Avengers’ and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” Brand said about hosting the show.

Lindsay Lohan talks ‘Saturday Night Live’ with Jimmy Fallon

HollywoodNews.com: Lindsay Lohan is getting ready for her ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosting gig, so who better to talk with it about than a former cast member?
Lindsay went on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show to talk about how she landed the gig after having a rough few years in the public eye, states RadarOnline.com. “I kept asking him. I wasn’t giving up,” Lindsay said about contacting ‘SNL’ head Lorne Michaels.
And it seems now that she has the gig, she wants to make sure it is a hit as she questioned Fallon about making an appearance. Lindsay and fans might just get what they want: “I’d do anything for you, if you want me to do it.”

Jimmy Fallon marries Tim Tebow, David Bowie in instant classic

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Jimmy Fallon’s almost too talented for late-night television. His musical parodies – which have involved everyone from Paul McCartney to Bruce Springsteen – are genius, and if not for the Internet, they might not be seen by a wide enough audience.
His latest seems so obvious, it’s a wonder no one else grabbed it. But Fallon thought to mix Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow and classic glam rocker David Bowie. The result? Tebowie.

‘Glee’s’ Matthew Morrison challenges Jonah Hill after bully comment

HollywoodNews.com: Jonah Hill recently spoke out about ‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison not being so nice to him in the past, and now Morrison is stepping up to the plate.
Hill spoke out about Morrison making fun of him in the past and told him to watch out next time they meet up. However, Morrison wants to make that meet-up happen sooner rather than later, states RadarOnline.com.
“Be afraid — be very afraid, because nobody messes with someone from musical theatre,” Morrison said in a video on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
Morrison also requested a meeting through Fallon, something the talk show host agreed to try to make happen.
Do you think Hill and Morrison actually don’t like each other?
