Two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner (‘The Bourne Legacy?) leads an all-star cast in a dramatic thriller based on the remarkable true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb.
Webb stumbles onto a story which leads to the shady origins of the men who started the crack epidemic on the nation’s streets, and further alleges that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profits to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua.
Despite warnings from drug kingpins and CIA operatives to stop his investigation, Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications. His journey takes him from the prisons of California to the villages of Nicaragua to the highest corridors of power in Washington, D.C. , and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but his family and his life.
Director: Michael Cuesta (‘Homeland’)
Writers: Peter Landesman, based upon the books Dark Alliance, by Gary Webb, and Kill the Messenger, by Nick Schou

Daniel Craig wants a raise from Sony

This one is pretty simple. Daniel Craig allegedly (Hollywood Reporter) wants a raise for his appearance in Sony’s planned The Girl Who Played With Fire. Sony is refusing and may even be trying to wrangle a pay cut. Sony is allegedly digging its heels out of the desire to cut costs, as the first film grossed $232 million worldwide yet still barely broken even due to its frankly absurd $90 million budget. Had the film cost a more reasonable $60-$70 million, it would have been quite profitable for Sony. But it didn’t so it wasn’t. If we must see the two other chapters in the original series, then they damn-well shouldn’t cost nearly $100 million apiece. You could argue that Rooney Mara is an essential component of any sequel and should be hired even at a token higher cost this time around. But everyone else involved is expendable. Daniel Craig, whose character was as bland a male lead as you can ask for, is not a box office draw, period. If Sony sees fit to write out his journalist protagonist, I imagine it won’t affect the film’s financial fortunes one iota. Daniel Craig is one of countless actors who do just fine in a marquee role or a popular franchise but flounder elsewhere. If Daniel Craig wants a raise from Sony, he is welcome to ask for one for the next James Bond film. But outside of the 007 series, Daniel Craig isn’t a box office draw, period.

Rihanna slams question about Ashton Kutcher

HollywoodNews.com: There have been rumors about Rihanna and Ashton Kutcher possibly hooking up, but she certainly doesn’t want to talk about those claims.
Rihanna was in London promoting ‘Battleship’ when a reporter decided to talk about Kutcher, which didn’t go over well with the singer, states RadarOnline.com. “Things are clearly going brilliantly in your career. I just wondered if you are as happy in your private life, and will we see a certain Mr. Ashton Kutcher perhaps making a trip over here?” a journalist asked.
But Rihanna wasn’t happy: “Wow, how disappointing was that question?”
However, she did answer that she is happy and single right now.
Who do you think would be a good match for her?

Adam Lambert clears up Queen frontman rumors

HollywoodNews.com: Adam Lambert is doing some rumor control after it came out that he may be the new frontman for Queen for an upcoming tour.
A report quoted Adam as commenting on his performance with the band for last year’s MTV EMAs: “The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f***ing great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of,” states The Hollywood Reporter.
However, while that quote was used to interpret Adam as claiming he’d be a part of a tour with the band, the young singer cleared things up over Twitter: “Oooh them clever reporters takin my quotes outta context…. I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances. I was talking about the EMA’S. That being said, I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! :).”

NBC is rumored to want Ryan Seacrest as a possible replacement for the morning show, states RadarOnline.com. Discussions are allegedly early at this time and could easily fall apart at any time.
One big problem with Seacrest as a replacement would be the criticism he could face as he isn’t exactly a seasoned journalist covering all areas of the news.
