“Total Recall” remake adds Bill Nighy to cast

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” remake continues to take shape.
The sci-fi action thriller, which casts Colin Farrell as a factory worker who begins to suspect he’s a spy in a futuristic society, just added Bill Nighy to its growing cast, THR reports. The Brit will play Quatto, the infamous leader of the resistance. Nighy’s a regular player in Wiseman’s ensemble, having participated in the “Underworld” series. He’ll join Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston and Jessica Biel in the film, which reportedly begins shooting in Toronto next month.
“Recall,” of course, was a very popular vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger. At one point, it was believed a cameo from the former Governator would be worth its weight in gold. Now it would probably tarnish a promising production.
The “Recall” remake will be in theaters next year.

Kate Beckinsale offered “Total Recall” role?

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Could Kate Beckinsale be joining Colin Farrell in the planned remake of “Total Recall?”
It makes sense, as Beckinsale’s husband, Len Wiseman, is on tap to direct. And now the word this morning states that Beckinsale has been offered the role of Lori, a part played by Sharon Stone in the original Arnold Schwarzenegger version, Deadline reports.
The site goes on to report that Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson “are the serious contenders” for the film’s other female role, Melina.
Beckinsale’s currently filming the latest “Underworld,” but she should be finished in time to jump into “Recall.” Sony Pictures is producing the releasing the remake, which would be in theaters in 2012.

‘Underworld 4′ gets some Swedish flavor

HollywoodNews.com: Swedish directing combo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are in talks to helm “Underworld 4” with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as vampire warrior Selene.
Screen Gems will release the film and Lakeshore Entertainment will produce.
“Underworld 4” is set to shoot in Vancouver in March. John Hlavin wrote the script with revisions by J. Michael Straczynski.
Marlind and Stein recently directed the U.K. thriller “Shelter” which stars Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The film has yet to unspool in the U.S.
A number of Swedish films have been invading the box office in recent years, i.e. “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “Snabba cash” and “Let the Right One In.” In many cases, English-remakes of such fare have been fast tracked into production, i.e. Fincher will deliver the U.S. take on “Dragon Tattoo” next Christmas and vampire teen drama “Let Me In” recently made $12 million at the B.O.

Sam Rockwell to terrorize Jonah Hill in “Sitter”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Sam Rockwell could be moving from a “Conviction” to a criminal.
Later this month, Rockwell’s set to play a short-tempered troublemaker jailed for a crime he might not have committed in Tony Goldwyn’s “Conviction.” Now he’s being attached to the role of a rough-and-tumble drug dealer giving Jonah Hill a hard time.
Rockwell’s about the join the “Superbad” star for “The Sitter,” a David Gordon Green-helmed comedy set up at 20th Century Fox, according to The Wrap. Rockwell previously worked with Green on the unfunny (yet criminally underrated) “Snow Angels” with Kate Beckinsale. Since then, Green has gone on to flex his funny bone with “Pineapple Express” and “Your Highness,” which screened footage at New York Comic Con and earned raves.
In “Sitter,” Hill plays a college dropout who’s babysitting his neighbor’s kids, then embarks on a wild night through Manhattan when his attempt to score drugs for a girl go bad. Rockwell would play the drug dealer, and will be joined by “Curb Your Enthusiasm” co-star J.B. Smoove.
Right now, “Sitter” is scheduled for a July 15, 2011 release date, which puts it up against the conclusion of the “Harry Potter” franchise. Good luck with that.

Secrets of Celebrity Fitness – Five simple steps to look like Katy Perry

By Dr. Bradley Frederick
HollywoodNews.com: Katy Perry is known for her outrageous outfits, rising pop singles, and lately, her newly fit figure. Perry’s wedding to comedian Russell Brand is just a few months away, and the singer has not been wasting any time getting her body into amazing shape.
Celebrities are notorious for whipping their bodies into shape in the blink of an eye. What are their secrets? I have put together an easy five-step program that will help anyone shed unwanted pounds and look as good as any celebrity.
Secret One. Find an activity that you like and do it for at least 25 minutes, five times a week. Perry says, “I hate working out, but I love jumping rope. There’s a rhythm. It’s like dancing.” Actress, Katherine Heigl also loves to jump rope. Jumping rope may not be for everyone, but it’s easy to stay motivated when you like what you’re doing. Pop superstar Usher starts his workouts with 20 minutes of meditating, and then 30 minutes of static stretching. Flexibility of the mind and body are keys to a long and healthy life, so Usher is doing something that will not only keep him fit, but keep him grounded and happy. If you find something you enjoy, you’ll be more likely to stick to it and get the results you want.
Secret Two. Replace sweet drinks and diet drinks with water… lots of water. Your body is two-thirds water and you should try to replenish it daily to keep yourself alkaline. I tell all my patients to drink at least 2/3 ounces of water per body pound. This helps keep your metabolism up, is the best detox anyone can do, and also helps to reduce body pains. Stress, food additives and preservatives are toxic to your body and lead to acidity. Acidity is very detrimental to all your body functions, including your immune system. If you don’t like water alone, try adding some lemon or drinking coconut water. Coconut water is loaded with electrolytes and minerals, has about 16 total calories, and is fat-free. In fact, one cup of coconut water contains more electrolytes than most sports drinks and more potassium than a banana. There are many benefits to drinking water, but I do have one warning: do not drink more than 3/4 oz of water per body pound because it can dilute your electrolytes.
Secret Three. Eat at least five times [...]

Kate Beckinsale’s “Underworld” sequel moves back to 2012

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: This is why I always use pencil on my release-date calendar. Studios insist on shifting dates right up until the time a movie opens. Am I right, “Going the Distance?”
Screen Gems announced that the fourth “Underworld” will not hit theaters January 2012, as opposed to the previously stated Sept. 23, 2011 date, according to ComingSoon. This, of course, begs the question, “Did you know they were planning a fourth ‘Underworld’ movie?” Because I sure didn’t.
Fans of the vampire series will be pleased to learn that Kate Beckinsale reportedly is returning to the series, though, to play Seline. She last tried on the skin-tight leather for the 2006 sequel “Underworld: Evolution,” but then tried her hand at more dramatic roles (she was excellent in “Snow Angels,” “Nothing But the Truth” and “Everything’s Fine”). Maybe she missed wielding stakes and firing hand cannons, though, so she’s potentially heading back to “Underworld.”
No word on if Beckinsale’s husband Len Wiseman, the original “Underworld” director, will follow her. He has been linked to a “Total Recall” remake, as well as a big-screen adaptation of the blockbuster video game “Gears of War.”
