Another great Hollywood Vanity Fair bash… Stars, Stars, Stars

Vanity Fair upped its Oscar game last night. They build a huge multi level tented building in the parking behind Sunset Plaza. Traffic snaked back and forth on Sunset Boulevard in both directions. There was a big security plan, with metal detectors at the check in. And then you arrived to find an avalanche of stars. Stars and stars. Two by two, or three by three, they came.
Inside the main room, just to the right, if you could find them through the fog of formally attired people, Jane Fonda and Anjelica Huston set up a beach head. Many stars, old and young, were crowded into this area including Jane’s beau, Richard Perry, and Sarah Paulson, plus Quincy Jones, who was busy looking for Petra Nemcova, and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks. Rosaria Dawson and Gabrielle Union weren’t far away. Sitting on a couch in a section nearby, the fabulous oldies group– Mickey Rooney and Martin Landau. And they were hosting this year’s nominee June Squibb.
Praise god– Don Rickles and his wife were entertaining Don’s many fans. “Do you have any Oscar jokes? I asked Rickles. “If you’re paying me!” he said. I did get a photo.
Just at the entrance to this room I tripped over Bill Hader, who was reconnecting with Will Forte and Paul Rudd, with a big group of comics around them. Hader made a beeline to see Larry David. In time that group was joined by hit pop star Ed Sheeran, who’d just come over from playing at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation fundraiser. Only 23, Sheeran– who’d been hanging with Taylor Swift–is about to break out in a big way. His new single comes this week, with a new album in June.
From there I headed to the upper level party, where Bill Murray and a big group had come to occupy a huge round room with Art Deco-ish banquettes– a hold over from past VF parties. They store their sets! This is where a lot of guests were dining on In and Out Burgers. Here were lots of people carrying Oscars, from “Gravity” and “12 Years a Slave” crew to winner Lupita Nyong’o. Super model Karolina Kurklova and her husband Archie Drury were getting burgers. Amazing since it looks she only eats celery stalks!
And yes, chowing down, was our old pal Kerry Washington, a month away from giving birth, radiant and round.
The thing about Vanity Fair’s parties is [...]

Kelly Ripa’s new ‘LIVE!’ cohost revealed

HollywoodNews.com: Kelly Ripa finally has a permanent cohost in place for ‘LIVE!’ and it seems that former football player Michael Strahan was the lucky chosen one.
Strahan was chosen as the cohost out of 59 contenders to replace Regis Philbin after he retired in November 2011, states UsMagazine.com. “Before I bring him out, I just want to take a minute, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, to thank all of you. You stood by us . . You’re the best audience. I’m not kidding. I love you guys. I really appreciate all of your input during our co-host search,” Ripa commented to the viewers.
And Strahan couldn’t be more excited to be the new cohost: “You know how they say it’s a dream come true? I truly can’t say this, because I didn’t know I could dream this.”

Anderson Cooper is Kelly Ripa’s dream cohost

HollywoodNews.com: Kelly Ripa has been without a permanent cohost since Regis Philbin left the show last November, but it seems there is only one man she really wants sitting next to her.
Ripa recently opened up about her ideal cohost being Anderson Cooper, states UsMagazine.com. “We have a connection like nobody else. I worship him,” Ripa commented.
Unfortunately for her, Cooper is busy with his own show so her search continues. It is rumored that Seth Myers and Josh Groban are the front-runners.
“It’s like ‘The Bachelor.’ It’s fun [to see different co-hosts], but you want the girl to settle down!” Ripa said about hopefully finding someone.
Who do you want as her cohost?

Was Kelly Ripa’s husband a male stripper?

HollywoodNews.com: Television host Kelly Ripa explains to Vanity Fair’s George Wayne why she could never co-host with husband Mark Consuelos: “No one would make me happier than Mark, but he values our marriage and he says that he doesn’t see how we could stay married and both do that show.”
Wayne then brings up Consuelos’s (semi) sordid past: “I found out in the National Enquirer that he was once a go-go boy, a male stripper.” Ripa responds, “He was. A lot of hot guys in Hollywood have done that. He was straight out of college, and he went to Notre Dame and finished his degree at the University of South Florida. So, there he was in South Florida, he’s looking to break into show business, so he started off as a roadie to a group of these guys, and then they talked him into stripping,” making the choice sound very rational indeed.’
George Wayne’s full Q&A appears in the June issue of Vanity Fair.

NO MORE BULLYING: 13 million kids get bullied every year

HollywoodNews.com: Today is Twitter Tuesday! Dedicate your Tweets to Stop Bullying. NO MORE BULLYING: 13 million kids get bullied every year. It’s time to take a stand. RT to STOP Bullying. #BULLYMOVIE
“BULLY,” the highly anticipated anti-bullying documentary (in theaters March 30th), has sparked a protest and now a movement, as a number of major movie stars, theater owners, and Members of Congress have joined forces to protest the film’s R rating. In a clear triumph for the film, Gerry Lopez, CEO of AMC Theaters, one of the most prominent theater chains in the world, spoke out against the R-Rating, saying, “To ‘automatically default’ BULLY is a mistake. Automatic default to a rating, a category, a genre… doesn’t matter, is a mistake. The message, the movie and its social relevance defy that kind of formulaic, conventional thinking. AMC will show this movie, and we invite our guests to engage in the dialogue its relevant message will inevitably provoke.”
Mr. Lopez is one of almost 300,000 people to get behind a petition started by a junior in high school named Katy Butler. Ms. Butler, who has experienced severe bullying herself, started the petition on Change.org after the MPAA ruled by one vote that “Bully” should receive an R rating due to six swear words. When Mr. Lopez asked one of his sons about the film, curious as to whether the debate had reached the demographic the film is geared toward, his son had already signed onto Ms. Butler’s petition.
The support from Hollywood has been on a steady increase since Katy Butler launched her petition. On March 20, Meryl Streep and her daughter Mamie Gummer will co-host a screening of the film with and David Boies, one of the two attorneys responsible for overturning Proposition 8 in California, and his daughter, Mary Boies. The screening will be held in New York City.
Johnny Depp has also signed on to lend his support; Ellen DeGeneres has devoted time to the film on her television show; and in the sports arena, Drew Brees, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, has also added his voice to the movement. Kelly Ripa and Anderson Cooper came on board as news anchor partners, hosting a screening in New York City last week, that was presented by Bing, the search engine from Microsoft. In addition to the screening in NYC, Bing will also be supporting the [...]
