This Week In Movies By Pete Hammond “Hangover 2”

HollywoodNews.com: Well, don’t ever underestimate the appetite of the moviegoers for lowdown , gross –out comedy, especially of the brand they have seen before. In this case the Wolfpack of The Hangover have done it again, virtually the same exact way they did it the first time. In The Hangover Part II, only the location has changed (from Vegas to Bangkok) but all the rest including the unexplained group drunken bender during a pre-wedding party for Ed Helms, the search for the buddy who inexplicably goes missing, the funny animal who just appears in their room (this time a drug-dealing monkey instead of a tiger), crazy Asian Ken Jeong naked again (really he should reconsider baring all) and even though you have to wait all the way to the end, Mike Tyson is back singing too! Predictable , yes. Funny, in parts. Popular, uh yeah. Breaking all sorts of records for Memorial Day, an R-rated comedy, a single day’s gross and pushing the limits of the ratings board, this Hangover is a smash. In fact it and the number two film, another retread, Kung Fu Panda 2 has made this four day Memorial Day weekend (and five day boxoffice period since both opened on Thursday instead of the usual Friday) a record-setter itself up more than 50% over last year and several million above 2007 which had the advantage of three major second sequels, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Shrek 3 and Spider Man 3. This time we have a couple of 2’s in Hangover and Kung Fu Panda and a 4 in Pirates proving everything old is new again or Hollywood doesn’t have any original ideas or audiences just want to rehash the same old stuff or—the correct answer — all of the above.
With an estimated three day of $85 million, a four day Memorial Day holiday take of $105 million and an overall five day of $137 million this is quite a bounty for a movie much of its target audience probably had to sneak in to see. The film was rated by Cinemascore with an astounding A+ satisfaction level for moviegoers 18 and under (and A- overall among all attendees). But how they did get in? It’s rated ‘R’ so no one under 17 without an adult, and I doubt many 16 […]

“Hangover Part II” red carpet footage streaming online

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Todd Phillips and more walked the red carpet in Los Angeles Thursday night for the premiere of the “Hangover” sequel.
The anticipated blockbuster, a follow up to the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time, doesn’t open until May 27, but Warner rolled the cast and crew through town to talk to media and premiere the film. We can’t offer a full review just yet. Embargoes and all. But I thin it’s safe to say that if you loved the first one (and many, many people did), this one – while much, much darker – is right up your alley.
The film shifts the action from Las Vegas to Bangkok, where Alan (Galifianakis) and Phil (Cooper) try and take Stu (Helms) on the town one last time before his wedding. What do you think happens?
Costars Justin Bartha and Ken Jeong also walked the red carpet, and were expected to be joined by guests Will Ferrell, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, and Jay-Z. You can watch a replay of the red carpet arrivals here.
And here’s the latest trailer for “The Hangover: Part II.”

Heather Graham won’t be stripping nor acting in ‘Hangover 2’

HollywoodNews.com: Boo-hoo!
Warner Bros. told E! Online today that Heather Graham won’t be returning as Jade, the stripper in “The Hangover 2.” In the first film, she gets married to Stu (Ed Helms) while he’s on a drunken stupor. When Stu –who is already spoken for– awakes with a hangover, he soon learns that he has tied the knot with Jade and that she has a baby.
Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Justin Bartha and Helms are expected to return to the highly anticipated comedy sequel.
Talking to E!, a Warner Bros. rep said, “Unfortunately Heather won’t be in the sequel – the way the story unfolds doesn’t allow any room for her character to show up.
“I don’t want to reveal too much of the film, but once you see it you’ll understand.”
It was recently revealed that “Hangover 2” will be taking place in Bangkok and Los Angeles.

‘Hangover 2’ setting revealed

HollywoodNews.com: Over the summer Zach Galifianakis had a great idea for a “Hangover 2” setting: Moscow. The actor thought a plot set around Russian organized crime would be groovy.
However, in the same story, Galifianakis denied a Moscow setting, only hinting that the “Hangover 2” locale would be “beautiful.”
Well, it turns out that beautiful place will be Bangkok.
Todd Phillips confirmed that the comedy sequel will also take place in Los Angeles.
Speaking to Empire, the director hinted for us to watch out for some f***ed-up surprises.”
Set to return for part two are Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Ken Jeong.
Phillips is aware that he has a high bar to jump after wowing summer auds last year with the surprise comedy hit.
“I’m not delusional. I know what I’m up against. I saw ‘Meet The Fockers.’ But we’re aiming high. It’s called ‘The Hangover Part Two,’ you know.”

New Twilight parody film says ‘Vampires Suck’

By Whitney Milam
HollywoodNews.com: The team behind “Scary Movie”, “Date Movie”, “Epic Movie” and “Disaster Movie” are sending yet another spoof to theaters this August, and let’s just say this one has bite.
“Vampires Suck”, starring Jenn Proske as a beautiful human girl with an inexplicable penchant for lip-biting (oh, hey Kristen Stewart) torn between a sparkling, stalkerish vampire and a clothes-shedding were-Chihuahua (yes, you read that right), hits theaters right in the midst of the summer “Twilight” craze and mercilessly skewers the popular franchise, Ace Showbiz reports. And if the just-released trailer is anything to go by, Twilight isn’t the only target: Lady Gaga, the Jersey Shore cast, and Alice (of Wonderland) all make appearances, too. The supporting cast features comedian Ken Jeong, Anneliese van der Pol, and Matt Lanter.
Fears about whether another such parody movie is really necessary should be at least moderately put to rest by the trailer–there’s an endless amount of spoof-worthy material to choose from in Twilight, after all, and “Vampires Suck” seems to enjoy the challenge, previewing several genuinely funny and clever moments in the process.
What do you think, Twihards and hard-hearted haters alike? Can fans retract their fangs long enough to have some tongue-in-cheek laughs at Twilight’s expense? Or is this a film-going experience best left to those who already enjoy mocking Twilight at every opportunity?

MTV Movie Awards round-up, Sandra Bullock collects top award

Hollywoodnews.com: What didn’t happen at this year’s MTV Movie Awards? The cable network’s kudo telecast upstaged even the Golden Globes as the award ceremony with the most hysterical moments.
Watching the show, one knew the night was off to a great start when Justin Bieber told host Aziz Ansari in his dressing room that he was there to make the girls go crazy. At which point Bieber turned on a blow dryer and dried his puppy dog ‘do.
Other highlights included Tom Cruise’s “Tropic Thunder” producer/ film executive Les Grossman foul-mouthing and gyrating to hip-hop tunes. At one point, Grossman rudely interrupted Ed Helm’s piano-rendition of “The Hangover” tune “Stu’s Song” (complete with dance routine by the film’s Ken Jeong in a leopard female bathing suit); demanding that the two immediately leave the stage.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” rallied five of the ceremony’s 12 popcorn statues. There was also an exclusive clip from “The Twilight Saga: The Eclipse” which screened to screaming fans.

Sandra Bullock became the first female recipient to receive MTV’s top honor, the Generation Award. Bullock celebrated by kissing presenter Scarlett Johansson onstage. Bullock was joined by her former co-stars Bradley Cooper and Betty White.

“Sandy, I know I’m not alone in saying I hope you know how loved you are,” said Cooper who starred with Bullock in “All About Steve, “Both for your incredible talent and for being such a humble and effervescent woman. I know you by many names: Sandra B., Sands, S Bomb, Supreme, Sausage, Sanda Duche.”
“You’re a once-in-a-generation talent,” he added. “You inspire me with the ability to shine through any darkness, and congratulations on this award.”
Bullock pulled out a piece of paper and read: “I am not dead. Number 2, everybody has cellulite, not just me. Paparazzi need more flattering lenses. Whoever established the high road and how high it was going to be should be fired. And I’ve never gone 14 days without showering, while chain-smoking while crying on the shoulder of my sweet aunt Ludie, because I shower twice a day, I don’t smoke and sweet Aunt Ludie died a year ago.”
Bullock asked Johansson why she was presenting, to which the actress replied that she was filling in for hubby Ryan Reynolds, who shared a nice slow kiss with Bullock in “The Proposal.” This set-up an awkward moment for Bullock to smooch Johansson in homage […]

John Malkovich, Frances McDormand join Transformers 3

Michael Bay just posted on his blog site MichaelBay.com the following update on his upcoming movie “Transformers 3.”
Below his post:
Hey, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Just been a little busy.
Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I’ve always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”
We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.
I also was at a Ferrari charity event this week raising money for a hospital being built by Ferrari in Haiti. I announced that night the newest Autobot to join Transformers: the Ferrari 458 Italia.
I also want to thank everyone on this site that donated to the Make -A-Wish charity. We raised $20,000 which I will personally be matching. This is a great charity where they make wishes come true for kids who are very ill. We have had many Kids from Make-A-Wish visit us on our Transformers sets and this time we will be posting video of their visits on Transformers 3.
