hollywoodnews.com: Rob’s Jacob Jankowski character is three things Edward Cullen is not: tame-haired, human, and tanned. It makes for a spectacular combination that fans are quite loving: Rob as a red-blooded American boy.
The proof is in the unofficial pictures, which have been popping up everywhere. Set-crashers (and presumably some insiders) have gratuitously posted shots of Rob, in character to play Jacob. In these shots, Rob is shown as sun-kissed and sweaty in work-clothes, at times, dirty and grimy in little more than a wifebeater undershirt, and carefully working with any number of the production’s circus animal “actors”.
Unlike the impeccably clean and aesthetically boyish Edward Cullen (who Stephenie Meyer tells us even smells fantastic), Jacob Jankowski is all hard work, muscle, and man. The new look certainly appeals to his (quite sizable) older base, who can appreciate a more masculine character.
Unsurprisingly, appreciative awe for Rob’s transformation has created quite the fan frenzy. Dedicated sites such as http://waterforelephantsfilm.com/ and http://filmwaterforelephants.wordpress.com/wfe-images/, are full of new info on the film and great set pictures of Rob.

HollywoodNews.com: Of late, Kristen Stewart has broadcast her resentment of an intrusive public with anyone who would listen. Speaking with everyone from Oprah, to Elle, to Flaunt Magazine about her displeasure, she recently likened such invasions of privacy to rape. While some fans have justified her vitriolic tirades, many others condemned this comment and other recent outrageous actions. Only after rape victim advocacy groups spoke out against her did Kristen step forward to apologize.
“The photos are so … I feel like I’m looking at someone being raped,” said the star in the July issue of Elle UK. Yet, in a statement made today to People Magazine, she ran in the opposite direction. “I really made an enormous mistake – clearly and obviously,” said the actress exclusively to People. “And I’m really sorry about my choice of words. I’ve made stupid remarks before, and I’ve always reasoned: ‘Whatever. They can think what they want.’” Concluded the actress, “People thinking that I’m insensitive about this subject rips my guts out. I made a big mistake.”
Though Kristen seems genuinely remorseful about her choice of words, she seems steadfast in her original points about intrusiveness. Statements made in spring and summer interviews, even when they did not mention “rape” included wording and tone that was quite strong. Most recently, Kristen made her feelings known while in Sydney on May 31st and June 1st to promote “Eclipse”. While standing on the balcony of her hotel room, she double-flipped the bird to paparazzi and fans standing below.

HollywoodNews.com: More 30-second “Eclipse” spots surfaced this week, these two focusing on newborn warrior Riley and the vampire army. They’ve been dubbed by fans with the monikers “Missing” and “Something New”, likely driven by the sensationalistic commentary of the deep-voiced commentator.
“Riley Biers disappeared without a trace,” the voice-over announces. “On June 30th, he’ll return.” In this first clip, “Missing”, the audience is shown a missing persons poster featuring the human Riley Biers before featuring more shots we’ve seen before (e.g., newborn bad vamp Riley eerily leading a V-formation of bloodthirsty comrades from the convenient camouflage of a mountain lake).
The second clip is less-focused, showing fast-paced battle scene footage and discussing the threat posed by the newborn army as a whole. “No human army can stand against them,” says Jasper in the southern lilt we’ve had little opportunity to hear thus far. In the background, the announcer reads a foreboding message: “They’re stronger…they’re deadlier…on June 30th, there’s something new to fear.”
Though only a few seconds of footage in each clip is truly new, fans have been happy to receive them. Fandango and MSN Movies first featured the new spots. They can still be viewed on either site or easily found on YouTube.

HollywoodNews.com: Via its web site today, comingsoon.it announced that it will be streaming live footage from a fan event linked to Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner’s 6/17 appearance in Rome. The event (put on by Eagle Pictures) is part of the Italian leg of the stars’ European “Eclipse” promo tour, and will be attended in person by some 1,700 local fans.
At the event, Kristen and Taylor will ask questions about their experiences shooting the Twilight films, and fans will see a 10-minute long preview of “Eclipse”, which opens on June 30 in Italy. For attending fans, big-screen showings of “Twilight” and “New Moon” will also be offered.
So, what if you don’t speak Italian? Good question. Since the event is primarily targeted to Italian fans wishing to participate in the event, Anglophones may be out of luck. Though, it is likely that, on a live feed, the stars may first be heard answering questions in English before said responses are translated for local fans. In the past, some video taken at promo tours outside of the U.S. has been subtitled in English after the fact. Let’s hope that, in this case, comingsoon.it ultimately shares the event with the rest of the Twilight fan world.

HollywoodNews.com: The Twilight stars are talking and, as usual, USA TODAY’s Susan Wloszczyna has the inside scoop. In an article published this week, Wloszczyna had a chance to chat with Peter Facinelli about playing the Twilight Saga’s “preppy patriarch” Dr. Carlisle Cullen as well as the handsy Dr. Coop in the Showtime series “Nurse Jackie”.
“Eclipse is my favorite book in the [Twilight] series…” admitted Facinelli. “I like that the two opposing forces, vampires and werewolves, band together for the common good.” Leading the charge on the good vamps side in “Eclipse” is Facinelli’s character, who is expected to play more prominently than in the first two Twilight films.
Of his concurrent project, the Showtime series, “Nurse Jackie”, Facinelli also spoke of his quirky character. Dr. Coop’s defining attribute, a tick that makes him grab womens’ breasts when he is nervous, found Peter commenting on acting the part with his female co-stars who have been on the receiving end of his groping. “They are all very good sports. It is much more awkward for me. After multiple takes, I’m worried that they will feel sore the next day.”
When asked from which doctor he’d rather receive medical care, answered Facinelli “Carlisle, bar none. He would make you live forever.”

HollywoodNews.com: Twilight-based UK fans were disappointed last week when news came through that none of the major Twilight stars would attend the July 1st premiere of “Eclipse”. It was definitively announced that not a single one of the three principals—Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, or even the UK’s own Robert Pattinson—would attend the London premiere.
Though Rob will still be busy shooting “Water for Elephants”, Kristen and Taylor’s reasons for not attending are not immediately known. Announced yesterday, however, was news of who would appear on behalf of the franchise: Cullen actors Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz.
Softening the blow was an announcement that, though the principals will not attend in person, they will be there in spirit. Yahoo News reported that Rob, Kristen, and Taylor will “record a special video message for fans who attend the event on July 1 at London’s Leicester Square.”
This isn’t the last time in recent memory that none of the principals appeared in the UK for a major event. Last week’s National Movie Award found all three principals nominated for awards, yet not a single one was in attendance. Rob made his acceptance speech for “Performance of the Year” via satellite from the “Water for Elephants” set. Peter Facinelli appeared in person to accept “Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer” on behalf of “Eclipse” and “Best Fantasy” on behalf of “New Moon”.

hollywoodnews.com: According to the July issue of Elle UK, in which Kristen Stewart is featured on the, the star admits during a lengthy interview that she is, in fact, being stalked.
“I have one crazy stalker,” said Stewart. It’s not worth changing my number for, I’m pretty certain that it’s some girl who got my number from someone I went to school with who’s like, ‘I’ve got Kristen Stewart’s number.” Yet, this revelation may explain Stewart’s recent hypersensitivity around her privacy and the role of the press.
“What you don’t see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction. All you see is an actor or a celebrity lit up by a flash…A lot of the time I can’t handle it. It’s f***ed. I never expected that this would be my life.”
She’s not just talking about the paparazzi. Even journalists as esteemed as Oprah dared ask her questions she keep saying she doesn’t like talking about—Oprah asked about the nature of her relationship with Rob and about what people say about Kristen’s standoffishness to the press (though, to Oprah’s credit, she did at least have the grace to follow the question up with a hug). Indeed, the Elle UK interviewer, after Kristen said “People always ask me if I’m dating Robert—it’s beyond annoying”, followed up the with a well-timed question for the star: “Well, are you?” she immediately asked.

HollywoodNews.com: The rumors were true: Vanity Fair has come out with another fantastic spread featuring the stars of Twilight. This time it’s an interview with five vamp-playing women and a lone she-wolf, along with decadent photos featuring all six.
Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Dakota Fanning, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Julia Jones joined VF’s Nancy Jo Sales to talk “Eclipse” for the June 2nd issue. Clad in blood-colored dresses with lips painted to match, the starlets talk about the film, the actors, and the Twilight Franchise.
Said Nikki Reed of the “Eclipse” set, “It’s just like high school in that the wolves really don’t hang out with the vampires. That’s the yin and yang of our movie. The wolves are a bunch of cubs. They run around and wrestle and punch each other. When do you see us [vampires] touch each other? We’re cold.”
Another interesting comment came from Elizabeth Reaser (who plays mom Esme Cullen) on what it’s like working with so many hot boys. “Oh, it gets so old, you have no idea. It has no effect on me. They’re all gorgeous and lovely boys…You just want someone interesting and weird at a certain point. I have a massive crush on Larry David.”
Beyond that, Bryce Dallas Howard and Dakota Fanning both dish on their obsession for the franchise, which predated their involvement with the films. Ashley Greene asserts the guaranteed success of “Eclipse”, and Julia Jones talks about acting alongside high-tech special effects that allowed her to phase into a wolf.
In addition to the print version of the article a four and a half minute behind-the-scenes video will be available on VF.com. The issue is available on newsstands today in New York and Los Angeles and will be available nationwide on June 8th.

HollywoodNews.com: A July 20th date has finally been set for the home video release of Kristen Stewart’s “The Runaways”. MTV had the exclusive this morning, when it announced specifics on when the volume will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray, and what the discs will include.
Unlike the Twilight franchise, which has seen a dizzying variety of special edition DVDs that have confused fans with nuanced extras and features, “The Runaways” video release will be predictably more straightforward. All formats will include commentary with Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart, and Joan Jett herself; also standard are two featurettes called “Plugged In: Making the Film” and “The Runaways”. Internet-TV-enabled Blu-Ray users will be able to access a program (called movieIQ + sync) that allows them to pull real time information about the film through a special feature of the disc.
This is good news for fans, especially for those who felt left in the lurch when it came to seeing the film on the big screen. The video’s pre-sales are rumored to be inordinately high, which some speculatively attribute to “The Runaways” limited theater distribution.

HollywoodNews.com: With the 2010 MTV Movie Awards days away, the promo is ramping up. Fans were dazzled by last week’s commercial spot featuring Robert Pattinson; a more recent release features Taylor Lautner.
The theme of both commercials is the same: each actor plays himself in a parodied scene with fictional Hollywood agent, Les Grossman. The over-the-top character originally appeared in Ben Stiller’s 2008 comedy “Tropic Thunder”. Characterized by a brand of demanding heartlessness and ruthless sarcasm that only a powerful showbiz agent would display, the showy, egotistical Les Grossman is played by the normally-tame Tom Cruise.
Though the clip featuring Taylor isn’t as funny as the one featuring Rob, the 60-second spot has a few nice moments. The basic premise is that Taylor may not be able to attend the awards in order to attend his best friend’s wedding; Les has found a body double to stand in for Taylor, but the punch line is that the body double looks nothing like him. Though Taylor doesn’t say much during the spot (certainly, less than Rob does in his), he looks fantastic in the ad. Yet, as in the commercial with Rob, the Les Grossman character is the comedic driver.
The spot is viewable on YouTube, and presumably by watching MTV. The Movie Awards air on Sunday, June 6th. So, the only question remaining between now and next Sunday is, will there be a commercial spot featuring Les Grossman and Kristen?
