Hollywoodnews.com: Superman rumors continue to fly faster than speeding bullets whizzing around the Internet.
First, Kristen Stewart was being considered for the Lois Lane role, intrepid Daily Planet reporter and sometime girlfriend of the Man of Steel. Then she wasn’t up for the role (and never was, depending on whom you believe). And now we’re hearing that Lois might not even be the lead female character … though we’re not 100% sure whom the female lead would be if it isn’t Lane.
Variety (courtesy of ComicBookMovie.com) now says that three actresses are “in the running” for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, but that the character they’re contending for “may not be Lois Lane after all.”
“Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike have emerged as the three thesps being considered for the character, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed,” Variety writes. “Early reports had names such as Rachel McAdams and Kristen Stewart as female leads, but sources tell Variety that the studio doesn’t want a name that could overshadow its leading man.”
That would be “Tudors” actor Henry Cavill, who was named the new Superman weeks ago. But who would these lovely blonde actresses play? And if Snyder wants a beautiful blonde for Supes, why not just recruit his “Sucker Punch” starlet Emily Browning. She seems to pack a major punch in that anticipated film.
Let us know what you think, and we’ll continue to track the film’s progress ahead of its 2012 release date.
