Colin Farrell Discusses His Son’s Angelman Syndrome

HollywoodNews.com: Actor Colin Farrell appeared on ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ Thursday night to promote his film, ‘Fright Night’. On the show, Colin opened up about his son’s Angelman Syndrome.
Colin’s son, James, 7, was diagnosed with the syndrome, which according to Colin, affects one in 30,000 children. Since it’s a rare syndrome, Colin said “there’s not that much funding because it doesn’t benefit pharmaceutical companies,” according to OK Magazine.
The father of two asked those who wanted to help, to visit CureAngelman.org, and make a donation. “James started walking just short of his 4th birthday and doesn’t have any verbal speech, but Colin made sure to say that his boy is a ‘a really happy boy’.”

Lindsay Lohan mix up means no David Letterman appearance

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: There’s no truth to the report that Lindsay Lohan will read the Top 10 list on tomorrow night’s “Late Show” with David Letterman. (Cue the jokes that Lohan bailed because she can’t read).
Instead, after announcing that Lohan would appear on the late-night talk show, Letterman producers had to explain that they were duped, and that the troubled starlet would not be appearing after all.
“Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday’s Late Show with David Letterman, as had been previously announced,” CBS said in a statement. “We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future.”
Appearing on the show could only help the actress’s public image. Instead, she becomes the butt of yet another media joke, and now Letterman’s forced to talk to scheduled guest Paris Hilton by himself. Sorry, Dave.

Howard Stern attacks Jay Leno on Letterman’s show

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The late-night war between David Letterman and Jay Leno heated up once again, this time because a morning-show personality fired off a few shots.
That would be Howard Stern, who appeared on Letterman’s talk show last night and went after Leno, who Stern openly has been criticizing ever since the Conan O’Brien debacle from last year.
“I’m ready to comment on this now,” Stern told Letterman. “You know as well as everyone in this room, Jay is horrible.” Stern then encouraged Letterman to go on the attack against his late-night rival, saying, “There should a whole attitude adjustment on this show.”
Despite Letterman’s best efforts to change topics, Stern continued to hammer away at Jay.
“Look, I love you, I’m in your corner,” Stern told Letterman. “I don’t want the same thing to happen to you that happened to Regis.”
Stern’s always an entertaining guest on Dave’s show, but do you think he went too far last night in attacking Leno? Let us know what you think.

Jimmy Eat World are back with “Invented”

HollywoodNews.com: Jimmy Eat World’s sixth studio album “Invented” is available in stores and digitally today. The album marks the reunion of the band and producer Mark Trombino who served as producer on the band’s two biggest selling albums “Clarity” and “Bleed American.” The deluxe version of the album is currently the #4 best seller on iTunes.
First single “My Best Theory” has quickly stormed up the Modern Rock charts and now is the #3 song at the format. New York Magazine wrote: “The pounding single “My Best Theory” from Jimmy Eat World’s forthcoming album, Invented, reminds us that emo used to actually rock, not whine.” The band recently performed a blistering rendition of the song on Late Show with David Letterman this past Friday, September 24. The heavily science fiction influenced video for “My Best Theory” made its debut last Friday.
The band started a tour across the U.S. on September 21 and has been playing to packed houses. The Washington Post wrote about a stop in DC that “they sounded as fiery as ever, like classic rock power ballads ramped up to the speed of punk.”
As Spin wrote in its review of Invented “These influential Arizonans have been churning out carefully calibrated emo-rock jams for so long that you kind of wish they’d lengthened the title of their….album by a few words: Jimmy Eat World Invented This Shit…” Jimmy Eat World is one of the standards and strongest voices of rock over the last decade, Invented is set to prove that they’ll be a major force in the upcoming decade.

Joaquin Phoenix apologizes to Letterman on last night’s “Late Show”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Joaquin Phoenix returned to David Letterman’s “Late Show” last night – the scene of the “crime” and the start of the actor’s publicized (but bogus) meltdown – and apologized for his behavior.
“You’ve interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person,” Phoenix said to Letterman, who may or may not have been part of the joke being played by Phoenix and his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, with the documentary “I’m Still Here.”
“But I apologize,” Phoenix added. “I hope I didn’t offend you in any way.”
Gone was the long beard and dark sunglasses, the thousand-mile stare and the stammering, the hostility and the act. Referencing Phoenix’s bizarre 2009 appearance, Letterman said it was “like you slipped and hit your head in the tub.”
But Phoenix confirmed that having himself humiliated was part of the plan.
“We’d hoped to come on a talk show, and I was looking for a beat down, and I got one,” he said with a laugh. “I want to thank you for that.”

Was David Letterman on to Joaquin Phoenix’s joke?

HollywoodNews.com: As Casey Affleck has revealed that Joaquin Phoenix’s behavior on David Letterman’s show was all an act, it appears that Letterman wasn’t fooled.
While Affleck insisted that he, Phoenix and Phoenix’s agent were the only ones in on the joke, Letterman reportedly knew the whole time and was excited to use it for TV, states RadarOnline.com.
There were reportedly segment notes that revealed that Letterman was in on the joke all along.
Well, one thing is for sure, it was highly talked about TV, just like Letterman wanted.

Michael Douglas looks strong, talks throat cancer on “Letterman”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Michael Douglas appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night, and though he was there to drum up support for his return as Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” sequel, the actor also opened up about his battle with throat cancer.
“I got cancer,” said Douglas, who liked vibrant and healthy for a man suffering through health struggles. Douglas lit up when he joked that he found out he had cancer right around the time he was told he’d be on Letterman’s show.
“There can’t possibly be a medical connection here,” Letterman shot back.
Douglas said he completed his first week of radiation and chemotherapy, but alluded to “an eight-week struggle.”
You can watch a portion of the clip here.
Letterman told the actor, “You’ve never looked better to me.” He wasn’t pandering. Douglas looked fantastic. Sometimes we get caught up in Oscars and awards and performances around here. Even Douglas joked that the cancer would cut into his promotional duties on the European leg for “Wall Street.”
Today, though, I’m just happy to see a solid actor looking happy and healthy. And I can’t wait to see him play Gekko again soon.
“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” opens on Sept. 24.

Joan Rivers goes on Letterman with dead husbands ashes

HollywoodNews.com: Joan Rivers brought her husband’s ashes onto a chat show in a bizarre interview.
The 77-year-old comedian appeared as a guest on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ grasping a vial containing the remains of her former beau, Edgar Rosenberg who committed suicide in 1987.
She told the host: “I have Edgar with me,” as soon as she took her seat for her interview. Letterman quizzed Rivers, asking: “This is your late husband?” “Yes, I have his little bitty ashes,” Rivers explained. “Do you carry his ashes everywhere you go?” asked a confused Letterman.
“Just when I go on late night because we were married for so long, so I like to say to him we’re back,” Rivers fired back. Letterman then asked Rivers about all the plastic surgery she’s had over the years, admitting that the Joan Rivers he knew didn’t originally look like the Joan Rivers of today.
Rivers reasoned: “Our business is so youthful. You do little tweaks and if a woman or man wants to look good – do it.
“But I take that as a compliment. I’m just scared that when I die god won’t be able to recognize me,” Rivers then joked.
