“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ Wins Hollywood Movie Awards

HollywoodNews.com:The 15th Annual Hollywood Film Festival’s “Hollywood Awards” ceremony was held last night before a standing-room-only audience of over 1,100 Hollywood Film Festival® attendees at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The festival and awards, presented by Starz, announced this year’s winner of the “Hollywood Movie Awards” – David Yates’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ – which was chosen by the public voting online at the Yahoo! Movies website. The nominees for the “Hollywood Movie Awards” were: “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Cowboys & Aliens,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” “The Help,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “Rango,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Super 8,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” and “X-Men: First Class.”
The winners of the festival’s film competition were announced Sunday night at the “Hollywood Discovery Awards®” Presentation Ceremony at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. This year’s winners are: “Dorfman” by Brad Leong – Best Feature Film; “The World of Z” by Brad Besser and Vince Clemente – Best Documentary; and “Clear Blue” by Lindsay MacKay – Best Short Subject.
Special honors went to Glenn Close for career achievement; George Clooney, Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Carey Mulligan, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Felicity Jones, Berenice Bejo, Jean Dujardin, Elle Fanning, Amber Heard, Andrea Riseborough, Shailene Woodley, Anton Yelchin, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janey, Ahna O’Reilly, Octavia Spencer, Mary Steenburgen, Emma Stone, and Cicely Tyson for acting; Bennett Miller for directing; Michel Hazanavicius for directing; Letty Aronson for producing; Diablo Cody for screenwriting; “Rango,” directed by Gore Verbinski, for animation; Alberto Iglesias for film composing; Emmanuel Lubezki for cinematography; Stephen Mirrione for editing; Scott Farrar (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) for visual effects; and James J. Hollywood Film Awards and Yahoo! Movies Announce Hollywood Movie Awards Nominees

HollywoodNews.com: The 15th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards together with Yahoo! Movies are pleased to announce the nominees for the 2011 “Hollywood Movie Awards” competition.

The Hollywood Movie Awards® are presented by Yahoo! Movies and cover the public’s favorites of the year. The voting takes place at the Yahoo! Movies site.

The 2011 Hollywood Film Festival has also announced that they will honor five-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close with the “Hollywood Career Achievement Award,” Academy Award-nominated actress Michelle Williams with the “Hollywood Actress Award” for “My Week with Marilyn,” Academy Award-nominated actor Christopher Plummer with the “Hollywood Supporting Actor Award” for “Beginners,” actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt with the “Hollywood Breakthrough Actor Award” for “50/50,”and actress Felicity Jones with the “New Hollywood Award” for “Like Crazy.” Other honorees include the cast of “The Help” (Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janney, Chris Lowell, Ahna O’Reilly, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen, Cicely Tyson, and Mike Vogel), Director Michel Hazanavicius, Producer Letty Aronson, Screenwriter Diablo Cody, Film Composer Alberto Iglesias, Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, Editor Stephen Mirrione, Production Designer James Murakami, and Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Farrar at their annual Awards Gala. 14th Annual Hollywood Film Festival unveils line-up

HollywoodNews.com: The 14th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, has unveiled its line-up of finalists for this year’s festival, founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu announced today. The programming includes features, documentaries and shorts from around the world.
The Hollywood Film Festival, which takes place October 22-25 at ArcLight Cinemas, will open on Friday, October 22, with the feature “RECONCILIATION: MANDELA’S MIRACLE,” a sensitive documentary about how Nelson Mandela saved his country from bloody civil war and dismantled the system of apartheid through the spirit of reconciliation. The documentary was directed by Michael Henry Wilson and stars FW De Klerk, Zindzi Mandela, Clint Eastwood, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Francois Pienaar and The Springboks.
This year’s lineup includes “THE 5TH QUARTER,” a film by Rick Bieber that is based on real events in 2006 and stars Aidan Quinn, Andie MacDowell, and Ryan Merriman; “BENEATH THE BLUE,” directed by Michael D. Sellers and starring Paul Wesley as a young Naval officer who is assigned to “recover” a dolphin that has disappeared from the Navy’s Marine Mammal program; “BLACK, WHITE AND BLUES,” a film by Mario Van Peebles that stars Michael Clarke Duncan, Tom Skerritt, Kiele Sanchez, Taryn Manning, Luke Perry, and Morgan Simpson; “BROTHER’S JUSTICE,” directed by David Palmer and Dax Shepard, and starring Dax Shepard, Tom Arnold, Nate Tuck, Bradley Cooper, and David Koechner; “FORT MCCOY,” a film by Kate Connor and Michael Worth that stars Eric Stoltz, Kate Connor, Lyndsy Fonseca, Andy Hirsch, Camryn Manheim, and Seymour Cassel, and is based on the true story of Kate Connor’s grandparents when they lived next to a Nazi POW camp in Wisconsin during WWII — a coming-of-age story, a romance and the journey of one man struggling to find his worth in a war that does not want him; and “WILD TARGET,” a film by Jonathan Lynn that stars Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy, Rupert Grint, and Rupert Everett. Sean Penn to be honored for his humanitarian work – “Hollywood Humanitarian Award”

Starz Announces Resignations of Overture Films Executives

hollywoodnews.com: Chris Albrecht, president and chief executive officer of Starz, LLC, announced that Overture Films executives, Chris McGurk and Danny Rosett, tendered their resignations today due to differences over the strategic direction of the company. Peter Adee, president, worldwide marketing, distribution and new media for Overture, will assume day-to-day operational responsibilities for the company and report directly to Albrecht.
“I want to thank Chris and Danny for their dedication and hard work in building the studio from the ground up, and wish them well in their future business endeavors,” said Albrecht.
