Michelle Williams talks big decision of tackling sexy Marilyn Monroe role

HollywoodNews.com: Marilyn Monroe is definitely considered sexy, which is what made it such a big decision for Michelle Williams to take on the role of the sex symbol in ‘My Week with Marilyn.’
Williams started her career with the sexualized role of Jen Lindley on ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ which had kind of turned her against playing that type, states UsMagazine.com. “I saw all the negative attention and connotations that can come along with that. And that those things can keep people from seeing you clearly,” Williams told ‘GQ.’
But, with Marilyn, she decided to take the chance: “When you play sexy you’re kind of playing just for men. That is something you have to police and turn it on its head. I mean, sexuality has been a part of my work, obviously…’Blue Valentine’…but it’s never been sexy. It hasn’t been beautiful.”
Do you think she did well with the role?

Oscars: Will Michelle Williams triumph for channeling Marilyn? – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell
hollywoodnews.com: In Simon Curtis’s “My Week With Marilyn,” we get to see a contemporary icon playing a Hollywood legend.
Michelle Williams, a two-time Oscar nominee, slips effortlessly into the massive shoes of Marilyn Monroe in the prime of her acting career – right before she filmed Billy Wilder’s “Some Like It Hot.” We can virtually predict Oscar nomination number three when the nominations come out on Jan. 24.
Williams’ mesmerizing turn as the fragile Monroe is reaping her ample rewards in the awards game. The Broadcast Film Critics Association, The Hollywood Foreign Press, the Independent Spirit Awards, the New York Film Critics Circle and Screen Actors Guild are but a few of the groups who have nominated Williams (or flat-out rewarded her) for her “Week” turn. The Academy is expected to follow their lead.
But Williams’ journey this season began at the Hollywood Film Awards, where she picked up our trophy for Hollywood Actress.
“It is a privilege to honor Michelle Williams for her excellent talent and remarkable career,” said Carlos de Abreu, founder of the Hollywood Film Awards and publisher of HollywoodNews.com.
Can Williams prevail in the Best Actress race? It’s possible. She has been nominated twice before, but has yet to win. Though she is expected to compete against formidable talent in Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Glenn Close, Tilda Swinton and/or Charlize Theron. Or, maybe there’s a wild-card contender waiting in the wings?
But if Michelle makes it to the podium on Oscar night, there’s a good chance her speech will sound something like this:
