54th Annual GRAMMY Awards® to Serve Only Wines Sealed with Natural Cork

HollywoodNews.com: For the second consecutive year, natural cork will be in the spotlight at the GRAMMY Awards.® Maintaining its commitment to sustainability, the 54th GRAMMY Awards will host two events featuring wines sealed exclusively with natural cork and will recycle the closures. Natural cork is biodegradable, recyclable and sustainable, and its use encourages the stewardship of cork oak forests that offset carbon pollution.

The awards show will take place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will air on CBS at 8/7 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. The Recording Academy®, internationally known for the GRAMMY Awards®, continues its ongoing effort to reduce the environmental impact of its annual awards ceremony, telecast, and associated GRAMMY Week events.

Wines sealed with cork will be served at the MusiCares® Person of The Year tribute dinner and concert honoring Paul McCartney two days prior to the awards ceremony and at the official GRAMMY Celebration® following the awards show.

The events will be equipped with recycling bins provided by ReCORK, a cork recycling organization that will collect the stoppers and provide them to SOLE, a company that manufactures shoes and sandals from recycled cork.

“We are honored that The Recording Academy has made natural cork a component of its sustainability program,” said Peter Weber, executive director of the Cork Quality Council. “The Academy joins a growing list of organizations, including the Major League Baseball Association and the National Basketball Association, that has recognized the environmental benefits of natural cork.”

Natural cork is one of the world’s most sustainable products. Biodegradable and recyclable, its use provides an economic incentive to preserve vast cork oak forests in the Mediterranean Basin that trap greenhouse gases, prevent desertification and provide habitat for hundreds of plant and animal species. There is no shortage of cork, and cork oaks are not cut down to make cork. A portion of their bark is removed every nine years during a 250-year lifespan.

HollywoodNews.com: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and OnTheRedCarpet.com today announced that the winners of the On The Red Carpet (OTRC) College Journalist Contest is a team of students from Hofstra University – Jackie De Tore (reporter), Beth Laschever (camera) and Melanie Rubin (producer). The Hofstra team was selected from more than 200 entries from around the country.

The winners will be flown out to Los Angeles to cover Oscar Week events, including the Animated Feature Symposium, Foreign Language Film Award press event, the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium and the Governors Ball preview. Additionally, they will have the exclusive opportunity to work with KABC-TV’s OTRC team and report live during the “On The Red Carpet at the Oscars” pre-show (1:30–4 p.m. PT).

Teams were evaluated by KABC and the Academy based on their skills as journalists and their ability to represent OTRC at the Academy Awards®.

Courteney Cox admits she hasn’t had sex since split with David Arquette

HollywoodNews.com: David Arquette went through a period where he was certainly open about his sex life, and now Courteney Cox is being just as open about her own situation.

Cox recently admitted to Howard Stern about how she hasn’t had sex since she split with Arquette in October 2010, states UsMagazine.com. “I’m holding to it. I’ve not had a man since David,” Cox admitted about wanting to stay abstinent during their separation.

But, it seems that even Arquette thinks it’s time for her to move forward: “He says to me, ‘Courteney, it’s time, get out there.’ He’s comfortable with whoever that would be with.”

‘Vampire Diaries’ stars on racy ‘Entertainment Weekly’ cover

HollywoodNews.com: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ stars are getting racy as they are on the cover of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ with not a whole lot of clothing on.

There are three different covers – one with Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, and another with those two and Paul Wesley with the third being Dobrev and Wesley, states UsMagazine.com. One cover has Dobrev wrapped in a white sheet while Somerhalder, who appears nude, cups her chest.

The other cover has both men with their hands on the actress who is in a black bra and wrapped in a red sheet. While the third has Dobrev in a black bra and black sheet with Wesley wrapped around her.

The characters they all play have been involved in a love triangle as the vampire brothers are both in love with Dobrev’s character.

‘Housewives of OC’ stars start to bury the hatchet

HollywoodNews.com: ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ premiered last night, and it seems the women are trying to move forward this year.

Tamra Barney and Gretchen Rossi opened the seventh season by trying to get over their past issues that have carried on for a few seasons now, states People. “I just want to try and get all the negativity out of my life,” Rossi commented on the show.

And it seems Barney is finally able to give Rossi what she has wanted in order to move on: “I was totally at fault. I have to say I apologize from deep in my heart.”

Magnolia Takes US Rights to Rob Reiner’s THE MAGIC OF BELLE ISLE

HollywoodNews.com: The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures announced today they have acquired US rights to THE MAGIC OF BELLE ISLE, a warmly funny drama directed by Rob Reiner, starring Morgan Freeman, Virginia Madsen, Madeline Carroll, Kenan Thompson, and Fred Willard. The film was written by Guy Thomas, and produced by Alan Greisman, Lori McCreary, Salli Newman and David Valdes.

Reuniting with his director from the hit film, The Bucket List, Freeman plays Monte Wildhorn, a famous Western novelist whose struggle with alcoholism has

sapped his passion for writing. He takes a lakeside cabin for the summer in picturesque Belle Isle, and befriends the family next door?an attractive single mom (Madsen) and her young daughters?who help him find inspiration again.
Magnolia plans a theatrical and VOD release in its Ultra VOD program in the summer.

Trailer Park Boys become “Race Dicks”

HollywoodNews.com: The stars from the legendary, infamous and outrageous underground sensation formerly known as the Trailer Park Boys are reuniting in a feature film called RACE DICKS. This movie will follow Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith as they enhance their car racing skills to compete in a world famous car race in Newfoundland. Along the way, they will creatively raise money to fund the television network SwearNet. The racing coach on the project is legendary car racer Rick Bye. RACE DICKS is targeting a 2013 release.

RACE DICKS is a Rollercoaster Entertainment and Vortex Words + Pictures production, produced by Gary Howsam and Bill Marks, directed by Bill Marks. Howsam and Marks most recently collaborated together on The Truth, starring Andy Garcia, Kim Coates, Deborah Kara Unger, Eva Longoria and Forest Whitaker, directed by Damian Lee. Prior to The Truth, they collaborated together on Casino Jack, starring Kevin Spacey, directed by the late George Hickenlooper.

Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith are best known for starring in ?Trailer Park Boys? (television series: 2001 to 2007), Trailer Park Boys: The Movie (feature film: 2006), Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day (feature film:2009) and ?The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour? (television series: 2010 to present).

Principal photography in 2012 will take place in Toronto, Ontario and surrounding areas, Halifax, Nova Scotia and several areas of Newfoundland.

In January 2012, the RACE DICKS Facebook page was launched to a fabulous response at http://www.facebook.com/racedicks. On this page fans get to participate in and follow the project as filming progresses. RACE DICKS also has a website at http://www.racedicks.com.

Oscars: Angelina Jolie will present at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony

HollywoodNews.com: Academy Award®-winning actress Angelina Jolie will present at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced today.

In 1999 Jolie took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Girl, Interrupted,” and she received a nomination in 2008 for her lead performance in “Changeling.” Jolie recently made her writing and directing debut with the film “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” She will be seen next in “Maleficent.” Jolie’s other film credits include “Kung Fu Panda 2,” “The Tourist,” “Salt,” “Wanted,” “A Mighty Heart,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Taking Lives” and “The Bone Collector.”

Ellen DeGeneres on overturn of Prop 8, women boycotting her

HollywoodNews.com: Ellen DeGeneres took some time on her show to address some very serious matters that have been going on in her life these days.

DeGeneres both addressed the overturning of Prop 8 in California and the group of moms who are boycotting JC Penney because she is their current spokeswoman, states RadarOnline.com. “I’m sure the people who oppose it will try to appeal it, but it’s a step in the right direction, so I’m happy,” DeGeneres said about the Prop 8 matter.

And while she is upset with the One Million Moms who are against her, there is something good in this: “They wanted to get me fired and I’m proud and happy to say that JC Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson.”
