Bieber Fever consumes L.A. at ‘Never Say Never’ Premiere

HollywoodNews.com: With only days to go before the 2011 Grammy Awards, pop music’s biggest sensation this side of Lady Gaga made a solid case tonight as to why he deserves — even if by fanbase alone — that Best New Artist award.
Hundreds of teens crowded the L.A. Live complex, located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, for the premiere of Justin Bieber’s part-concert film, part-biopic Never Say Never. Lines formed hours before the premiere began, snaking out of the complex and along several blocks of downtown.
According to MTV.com, several celebrities and musicians were in attendance, including Asher Roth and the youngest Kardashian sisters, Kylie and Kendall.
Before Tuesday’s premiere, Bieber tweeted: “We made it for everyone. We put out heart and souls into it.”
Never Say Never opens nationwide Friday, and as it’s being shown in 3D, there’s no doubt the movie will top the box office this weekend.

Justin Bieber discusses working with Kanye West

HollywoodNews.com: Justin Bieber got the chance to work with Kanye West when the singer remixed Bieber’s hit “Runaway Love.”
Bieber is revealing that West was absolutely great to work with despite the controversy he always seems to bring, states MTV. “He’s such a cool guy, and he’s just really laid back and just nice, and at the end of the day, he’s just a nice person,” Bieber said about West.
However, there was one thing he didn’t understand about him: “It’s funny, because he doesn’t even use a phone; he just sends e-mail … How can you not use a phone?”

‘Jersey Shore’s’ Snooki interviewing at the Grammys for MTV

HollywoodNews.com: The public apparently loves ‘Jersey Shore’ star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi as she will be hitting the red carpet for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards and doing interviews for MTV.
Snooki will team up with MTV’s Sway Calloway to ask all the stars what fans want to know, states MTV. The two will be live-streaming on MTV.com for two hours as they talk to all the presenters, nominees and stars.
This will be Snooki’s second time doing this as she covered the Grammys for MTV last year as well. But there will be one thing Snooki will change from last year: “I’m not gonna be like, ‘Yo, Kings of Leon, who are you?’ That’s what I did last year! So I’m definitely gonna study up more.”

Katy Perry’s tourmate avoids question about Perry’s music

HollywoodNews.com: When Katy Perry heads out on tour this summer, Robyn will be her opening act, but that doesn’t mean that she necessarily likes Perry’s music.
In a recent interview with Time Out New York, Robyn was asked about her upcoming tour with Perry and whether or not she was a fan of the singer.
Robyn played very coy and responded: “You know what? I have to go now. [Giggles]”
She was then asked, “Really?” and responded, “Yeah! I do.”
Her opinion about Perry’s music has been questioned before as she spoke to MTV about the singer and when asked then if she was a fan, she eventually giggled and looked at the floor before responding, “Yeah …”
Do you think Robyn isn’t a fan of Katy Perry’s music?

MTV breaks up with Lauren Conrad – nothing personal

HollywoodNews.com: Although Lauren Conrad has helped MTV through the years with her role in the reality shows ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills,’ apparently MTV is kind of over her.
It was recently announced by Entertainment Weekly that her new reality show was not going to move forward with the network. MTV exec David Janollari reported that things just didn’t work out, but that they still love her and would always welcome her back to the network.
However, Conrad apparently doesn’t feel the same way. A statement has been released revealing that there was a reason things didn’t work out, states UsMagazine.com. “MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life,” reads part of the statement. Conrad has previously spoken out that she doesn’t want her personal life on TV anymore.
Are you sad the show won’t air?

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga joining Eminem as Grammy performers

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: More musical artists have been handpicked as performers for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards
Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Cee Lo Green, Arcade Fire and Miranda Lambert were named this morning, adding them to a roster of performers that already includes rap superstar Eminem, MTV says.
Eminem’s fingerprints are all over this year’s Grammys. Already an 11-time Grammy winner, Eminem received the most nominations this year, followed by Lady Gaga, who nabbed six nominations for “The Fame Monster.”
Perry and Green are each up for four awards, while Arcade Fire and Lambert each were nominated for three awards.
The Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 13 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air on CBS, and MTV confirms that more performers and presenters will be revealed in the coming days.

Taylor Swift wins even on a slow week

HollywoodNews.com: Even when music sales are slow, Taylor Swift apparently still ends up on top of the ‘Billboard’ chart.
Swift has ended up this week at #1 yet again, but this was the lowest totals ever at #1, states MTV. She reportedly sold 52,000 copies of her latest album.
This low total has beat out the previous low total at #1 that was the soundtrack to ‘Dreamgirls’ at 66,000 in 2007. So while the totals aren’t so good, at least Swift is still on top.
Are you surprised the sales are so low?

COMEDY CENTRAL and MTV Networks Announce ‘The Comedy Awards’

hollywoodnews.com: COMEDY CENTRAL and MTV Networks, both divisions of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), have tapped New York City to host “The Comedy Awards,” the first-ever multi-network, multi-platform, annual event dedicated to honoring and celebrating the world of comedy, it was announced today by Doug Herzog, president, MTV Networks Entertainment Group. A night for comedy of all kinds, “The Comedy Awards” will be taped at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday, March 26 and will premiere on Sunday, April 10, 2011, simultaneously across MTV Networks’ COMEDY CENTRAL, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick At Nite.
Comedy elite including James Burrows, Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, Whoopi Goldberg, Brad Grey, Seth MacFarlane, Adam McKay, Jimmy Miller, Jay Roach, Ray Romano, Rory Rosegarten, Phil Rosenthal and many more are among the first to join “The Comedy Awards” Board of Directors which will be responsible for selecting the nominees. In conjunction with the launch of “The Comedy Awards,” the MTVN Entertainment Group has joined forces with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) to establish The American Comedy Fund. The fund will provide much-needed financial assistance, health benefits and other resources for comedians across the country during times of need, crisis or transition. The American Comedy Fund will be administered by EIF in collaboration with the Motion Picture & Television Fund and The Actors Fund.
“The Comedy Awards” will pay homage to the genre and honor the year’s best comedy actors, films, television series and digital content. The event will celebrate the talented writers, directors and performers who have literally changed the laugh track of our lives: the pioneering legends who pushed boundaries; the TV shows that we rushed home to watch;; the movies that are indelibly etched into our collective pop culture memory and the stand-up comedians that make us think while we laugh.
“The Comedy Awards” will take its place among MTV Networks’ rich history of successful tent-pole events, such as MTV’s “Video Music Awards,” Nickelodeon’s “Kids’ Choice Awards” and the COMEDY CENTRAL Emmy-nominated Roast franchise.
