Ed Norton wants to riddle moviegoers in ‘Batman 3′

HollywoodNews.com: Ed Norton seriously wants to be in another superhero film.
After losing out to Mark Ruffalo for the role of The Hulk in Marvel’s “Avengers” film, Norton wants a part in Christopher Nolan’s next “Batman” film.
“Chris Nolan’s making the best ones out there by far,” Norton said of the “Dark Knight” director. “I’d do one with him – he’s set a new bar for sure.”
If Norton had a shot at a villain role, it would be The Riddler. “Inception” thesp Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Johnny Depp have been buzzed for the role, which Jim Carrey played in 1995’s “Batman Forever.” Robin Williams recently said over the summer that he was definitely not linked to the part.
Norton next appears in Overture’s “Stone” alongside Robert De Niro on October 8. The film follows a convicted arsonist who taunts his parole officer by manipulating his wife.
Digital Spy scored the news.

Mark Ruffalo touches on Ed Norton controversy, compares Hulk to Hamlet

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: I haven’t seen a lot of direct quotes from Mark Ruffalo since the actor officially took over the role of Dr. Bruce Banner and his violent alter ego, The Incredible Hulk, from Ed Norton, so this interview posted over at EW has become a must-read for Marvel and comic book fans.
Of course, you know Ruffalo joined the assembled cast of Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” on stage at Comic-Con last weekend. He didn’t get to address the cheering crowd, just smile and pose with fellow cast members Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr.
But when Ruffalo sat down with EW’s Jeff Jensen, he expressed some nerves about entering the fray, especially at Comic-Con.
“I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my heroes up there! I was a comic book fan growing up. I loved The Hulk and The Avengers — it’s just strange to be entering that world as an actor. I never would have imagined that before,” Ruffalo said.
“I was very, very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect,” he continued about Comic-Con. “That’s as close you’re going to get to being a rock star as an actor. The fans — they have very strong feelings toward their comic book heroes.”
And many of them had strong feelings about Norton continuing in the role. As for that controversy, Ruffalo took the high road and said, ” I’m a friend of Ed’s, and yeah, that wasn’t a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation’s Hamlet.”
According to Ruffalo, the “Avengers” film starts shooting in the winter. It’s also interesting that he bypassed the previous “Hulk” films by Ang Lee and Louis Leterrier, and went back to Bill Bixby’s television work as his point of reference. A good idea, no doubt.
Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” will be in theaters in 2012.

Mark Ruffalo could be confirmed as The Hulk tonight at Comic-Con

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: We’ll know this evening which actor has been cast as The Incredible Hulk in Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers.” At least, we think we’ll know.
Marvel Studios issued a big, fat “no comment” when asked by HitFix if Mark Ruffalo has been signed for the part and will appear on stage alongside his mighty Marvel counterparts during this evening’s Comic-Con panel. It has been believed that the studio wants its complete ensemble — which includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Chris Evans and Captain America — to take the stage at Comic-Con.
It would be photoworthy, if not exactly newsworthy. Rumors about Ruffalo replacing former Hulk Ed Norton have been running rampant pretty much ever since HitFix broke the story that Norton was out as “The Avengers” rolled on.
If Ruffalo takes the gig, and makes the stage, expect Twitter to explode in real-time as reporters, fans, and overall geeks look to spread the word this evening from San Diego.

Edward Norton addresses Hulk controversy on his Facebook page

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Ed Norton seems to be the only person who hasn’t weighed in on the ever-shifting “Norton Out As Hulk” story that has consumed movie Web sites for the past few days. Well, that changes now.
Norton addressed the controversy with a note posted to his Facebook page. In it, he states he’s “appreciative” for the fans’ support in the matter, and that the outcome of the negotiations with Marvel “makes me sad.”
“But I am very sincerely grateful to Marvel for extending the offer and even more so for giving me the chance to be part of the Hulk’s long and excellent history,” Norton writes.
That doesn’t sound like an actor who lacks the “creativity and collaborative spirit,” as Marvel painted Norton over the weekend.
Norton, who seemed very appreciative of being part of the Hulk franchise, if even for a little while, concludes by saying, “Hulk is bigger than all of us, that’s why we love him, right?”
But will we love the NEXT guy to play Bruce Banner and his green alter ego? Click here to read Norton’s entire statement.

Did Katy Perry and Russell Brand already marry?

Hollywoodnews.com: Did Katy Perry and Russell Brand elope?
The pop singer left U.K. audiences wondering after her appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.”
In chatting with Norton, Perry remarked “Life’s never dull with him (Brand) – that’s why I married him.”
This triggered the audience and Norton to drop their mouths. Perry quickly attempted to cover up by saying “That’s why I’m marrying him!”
According to The Sun, Perry, 25, was mum thereafter on whether she already tied the knot with Brand.
Earlier in the show, Perry refers to Brand’s mother as her mother-in-law.
With Lady Gaga giving many of the former pop stars such as Christina Aguilera a run for their creativity, Perry has bounced back with her summer hit “California Gurls.”
