Beyonce’s New CD is Number 1

HollywoodNews.com: Beyonce‘s “4″ album debuts at Number 1 this week with around 300,000 copies sold. It’s a good but not great debut for “4″ considering its predecessor sold 480,000 copies a year and a half ago.
The lower number is surely an indication of how the record biz has dwindled over the same period of time. It’s also about Beyonce not having a great single from this album. On the last one, “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” she had a breakout hit with “Single Ladies.” Even the video was parodied. “4″ doesn’t have that single so far, although does have a few misses.
I have to think that Beyonce’s forceful appearance on “Good Morning America” last Friday helped her a lot. She sang live, looked like a million bucks, and really went for it. All current performers should take notes. When Beyonce is on, she is worth her weight in gold bullion. It’s instructive to note that at same time Beyonce was roaring across the “GMA” set in Central Park, rapper Pitbull was featured on the “Today” show. He wasn’t very good, and his sales actuall went down. He’s dropped from number 7 to 15.
This was a rare “Today” misstep. This Friday, country singer Blake Shelton comes to “Today,” which should be a hit. The following Friday is Chris Brown–yikes, what are they thinking? Meanwhile, Adele gets kicked to Number 2 this week; she’s still rolling deep in green. Lady Gaga drifts out of the top 10 and into oblivion.

Pauly D featured on the ‘Jersey Shore Soundtrack’

HollywoodNews.com: MTV and Universal Republic Records dropped this summer’s sonic blockbuster, the “Jersey Shore Soundtrack,” today, July 20th 2010. It’s the only place you can hear today’s hottest artists—Lil Jon, LMFAO, and Pitbull—in one continuous mix. The brand new collection of sizzling dance and pop tracks are inspired by Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D and the rest of the gang. Even if you don’t live in Jersey, you can rock to this.
Rather than simply slapping together a bunch of modern hits, Universal Republic enlisted the talents of noted producer, DJ, and remixer Jason Nevins to ensure that the “Jersey Shore Soundtrack” would play as one non-stop mix. This one-of-a-kind set of bouncin’ and bangin’ tracks definitely evokes some of the show’s most memorable moments “in the club.” “Jersey Shore’s” very own Pauly D even offered up his “Beat Dat Beat (It’s Time To)” for the propulsive playlist. Bumping continuously, there’s never a dull moment, and this mix will light up your beach party or night on the town.
Pauly D’s song isn’t the only exclusive included though. The soundtrack also features previously unreleased remixes from dance and pop trend-setters such as Paul Oakenfold (“Pump It Up”), Kid Sister Ft. Nina Sky (“Look Out Weekend”), Girlicious (“Drank”), Jersey Shore featured artist- Midi Mafia (“Last Call”) and Tiesto vs. Diplo (“Come On”). With Nevins’ deft remix alchemy, all of the songs fit snugly together for maximum audio ecstasy.
“I Like It,” the “Jersey Shore Soundtrack’s” first single from Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull, immediately infiltrated clubs and beaches nationwide, becoming one of the summer’s biggest “fist-pumpers”, garnering spins on over 100 radio stations and hitting both the U.S. and U.K.’s Top 10 charts.
The “Jersey Shore Soundtrack” also features a combination of number one singles (Lil Jon featuring 3OH!3′s “Hey,” David Guetta featuring Fergie’s “Getting’ Over You”) and, of course, there’s LMFAO’s “Get Crazy,” the show’s raucous theme song whose lyrics “Get crazy/Get wild/Let’s party/Get loud” always let viewers know what’s in store every installment.
The “Jersey Shore” Complete Season One Uncensored” DVD also hit stores this week.

Usher gearing up for the release of ‘Versus’

HollywoodNews.com: On the heels of his successful, critically-acclaimed current album Raymond V. Raymond, Usher is gearing up to release Versus, an extension of R V. R with eight new songs on August 24th.
Versus is a conceptual sequel and final chapter of Raymond V. Raymond — an album in which Usher uses music to explore the dichotomies of his life as a newly single man/father.
The lead single from the new set is “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” featuring Pitbull and is produced by the inimitable Max Martin — who has worked with some of the top pop artists in the world including P!nk, Katy Perry and Britney Spears. “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” will be delivered to radio stations world-wide this coming Monday morning. Shortly after, “Hot Tottie” produced by the hitmaker Polow, will be delivered to radio on August 9th.
Released late spring of 2010, Raymond V. Raymond reclaimed Usher’s dominance on the charts, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums and R&B Albums charts spawning five hit singles: “Papers,” “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home),” “Lil Freak” featuring Nikki Minaj, “There Goes My Baby” and the pervasive summer smash, “OMG” featuring will.i.am. Additionally, Raymond V. Raymond held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s R&B Album chart for seven weeks and since has sold over six million tracks and ringtones combined.
Usher’s ninth No. 1 single, “OMG,” has had over 3 million tracks and ringtones to date and held the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 Singles chart for four weeks in a row. The song hit No. 1 on the Nielsen RingScan chart and continues to chart in the Top 10 for its tenth consecutive week. “OMG” enjoyed international success as well, reaching No. 1 on the iTunes chart in both the UK and Australia. Usher’s world domination extended through Canada (No. 1 airplay & Gold album), Ireland (No. 1), New Zealand (No. 1 airplay) and Sweden (Top 10 CHR).

T.I. lends his vocals to Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It”

HollywoodNews.com: Enrique Iglesias’ new summer hit “I Like It” has gotten a new verse from the King of the South, T.I.!
Iglesias returns his eagerly-anticipated new album, Euphoria. With its seductive pop, driving hip hop beats and heart of pure passion, Euphoria is set to bring a rush of blood to the dancefloor, with VIP guests including Akon, Nicole Scherzinger, Usher, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel, Juan Luis Guerra and the legendary Lionel Richie.
His most diverse, eclectic collection to date, Euphoria is also Enrique’s first album to feature songs sung in both Spanish and English. “This territory is so exciting for me,” says Enrique. “It taps into so many different styles of music. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before.”
‘I Like It’ is the first international single from the forthcoming album, produced by Red One, it features a vocal cameo from Lionel Richie, reprising the chorus of his timeless hit ‘All Night Long’. The track is an upbeat floor-filler and comes backed with a crazy hot remix from #1 selling US rapper Pitbull (‘I Know You Want Me’). Enrique was thrilled to work with his friend Lionel Richie, but it was Pitbull who really took it out of him. “Man, working with Pitbull, it’s like he’s got everybody in the world’s mojo, his energy is so intense. And shooting the video together was just insane… ”
Other tracks on Euphoria include Enrique’s Spanish-language smash ‘Cuando Me Enamoro’, featuring Latin superstar Juan Luis Guerra, which crash landed in top 10s across Latin America and Spain on its release. Then there’s the sizzling ‘Heartbeat’, a duet with Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. It’s utterly pop but emotionally naked. Says Enrique, “If you can create an upbeat song and still put sentiment in it like that… man, that song is raw.”
‘One Day At A Time’, is a departure into mellow calypso, the melody coming to Enrique after he had spent so long battling on the song that he was driving home from the studio in despair. “I turned straight round and went back to record it,” explains the perfectionist. “It was one of those special songs that make you fight for it.” ‘Dirty Dancer’ is a party piece, thick with slamming synthesisers and featuring vocals from Usher, who announces that this is a song “for the dirty girls, all around the world.”
