Second “Immortals” trailer hits the Web

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The second trailer for Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals” was released late Wednesday night by Relativity. We have posted the longer, fuller tease ahead of the film’s anticipated Nov. 11 release date.
“Immortals” continues to look like a prettier “300” or a more sophisticated “Clash of the Titans,” with Henry Cavill as Theseus, a human leader calling fellow warriors together for a battle against the Gods.
The film co-stars Mickey Rourke, Kellan Lutz and Freida Pinto. It will be in 3D and 2D on Nov. 11, from Relativity.
It’s interesting that we’re focused on Singh and Cavill for different films, as they each go from “Immortals” to “Snow White” and Superman, respectively. Until then, we have a clash with the titans. What are your thoughts on this sword-and-sandal spectacle?

Mickey Rourke takes on another sports role

HollywoodNews.com: After excelling as a wrestler onscreen, Mickey Rourke is getting his game on. Rugby, that is.
The Oscar-nominated actor is in talks to play Gareth Thomas, an ex-Wales captain who came out last year and revealed that he was gay. The Sun reports that Rourke was in London discussing the film with Thomas.
Gareth told the paper: “Being out with Mickey was like being in a film itself.
“The film’s a challenge – it’s one thing to play a rugby player, to play a gay one will be more fun.”
Rourke, ever the consummate method actor, is learning Welsh for the part. No surprise, as he went the distance to perfect a Russian accent and visit jails in the former U.S.S.R. in crafting his role as the villain Whiplash in “Iron Man 2.”
Rourke’s results at the B.O. this summer have been spectacular between “Iron Man 2” and “The Expendables,” minting $870 million worldwide.

Megan Fox clarifies Mickey Rourke tattoo

HollywoodNews.com: Megan Fox has a tendency to do and say things that create a stir, and her comments about getting a tattoo in honor of Mickey Rourke were no different.
After Fox revealed that she got the tattoo, it was rumored that she was having an affair with her ‘Passion Play’ costar, reports Digital Spy. However, the tattoo was simply a quote that reminds her of Rourke.
The quote is essentially about “marching to the beat of your own drummer,” which the actress feels is exactly what Rourke does. The tattoo has no more meaning than that.

Megan Fox ‘Passion Play’ fails to move critics

HollywoodNews.com: After biting the dust in “Jonah Hex” and getting fired from “Transformers 3,” Megan Fox isn’t looking at a string of good luck yet after her film “Passion Play” was panned by critics at the Toronto Film Festival.
In Contention rounds up all the critics’ nails for the Mitch Glazer film. What’s sad is that the director-scribe spent 20 years trying to get “Passion Play” made. For sure, Mickey Rourke won’t be an award hopeful after his turn as a jazz trumpeter in the film.
Contention assesses:
David Poland calls the film “epically bad” and even suggests that the potential for a Megan Fox nude scene was probably the only thing keeping people from walking out. Cinematical and eFilmCritic’s Erik
Childress did just that, however. He couldn’t take it. Meanwhile, at Voice Film, Karina Longworth says “it’s hard to imagine that anyone will take [the film] nearly as seriously as it takes itself.” What can you say? It’s never a happy moment when someone works so hard at something so quickly and summarily dismissed.
In “Passion Play,” Fox plays Lily the “Bird Woman,” a carnival sideshow attraction. Many wonder if she’s an angel or a freak, but she winds up impacting the life of Rourke’s character for the better after he falls for her.

What Do Mickey Rourke’s Plastic Surgeon and P Diddy Have in Common?

hollywoodnews.com: Hip-hop bad boy P Diddy owes New York City almost $1 million for illegally plastering promotional posters all over Manhattan. Diddy, real name Sean Combs, 39, is said to owe a whopping $996,000.
Boxer-turned producer Doug E. Fresh, Mickey Rourke’s plastic surgeon, and rapper Remy Ma’s defence lawyer are also accused of using illegal fly-posting to promote their work.
A report in the New York Daily News said the group were among thousands of people and companies that collectively owe $1.9 billion to the city of New York. Finance commissioner David Frankel said, “We are going to find these people. We’re going to turn them upside down by their ankles and we’re going to shake them until the money comes out of their pockets.”

Megan Fox loose-lipped about her acting

Hollywoodnews.com: Megan Fox has always talked a little too openly with the press and with her latest film “Jonah Hex” bombing at the box office, it would be wise of her to be more careful with her words.
After all, acting is what she does for a living.
Per The Sun, Fox exclaims, “I’m totally aware that I’ve never given anyone a reason to praise me for my acting talents,” she said.
“So to sit here and complain, ‘Why don’t people recognize me as an actress?’ would be outrageous.
“It’s my responsibility to prove that they should.”
Megan, just because you’re beautiful, doesn’t mean you are a bad actress.
Fox recently dropped out of “Transformers 3” and was replaced by Victoria’s Secret model Rose Huntington-Whitely who has no previous acting chops.
Fox’s next film “Passion Play,” an indie feature, stars Mickey Rourke and Bill Murray.

Megan Fox gets a tattoo in honor of Mickey Rourke

HollywoodNews.com: In other wild Megan Fox news, the actress allegedly tattooed a tribute to her co-star Mickey Rourke.
We’re speechless. What’s next, Kathy Griffin getting a tattoo of Tom Green?
The two are starring in the film “Passion Play” and Fox just “loves him (Rourke) to death.”
“Mickey is such a beautiful, wonderful human being. He’s so genuine and so sweet and so talented,” Fox tells the Sun.
“I just love him to death. I kept telling him that he needs to have kids, because I think he’s going to be an amazing dad. I hope he does that soon.
“I actually got a tattoo that is sort of in honor of him. It’s on my ribs. I don’t know if it’s been photographed yet, but it’ll come out eventually, I’m sure.”
Should you ever get a chance to see the tattoo, it‘s located on her right side of her torso and reads “’Those who danced were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music” (Gosh, that had to hurt — that’s long!). The quote is actually from poet Angela Monet.
No word on whether Fox loves Rourke so much because he reminds her of the other protagonist on her resume, “Jonah Hex.”
“Passion Play” also stars Bill Murray and centers on an angel who is indebted to a gangster who is saved by a penniless trumpet player.
