Walt Disney Studios Unveils Epic Adventure “Frozen”

HollywoodNews.com: Walt Disney Animation Studios presents an epic tale of adventure and comedy in “Frozen,” a computer-animated feature film slated for the big screen in November 2013. Directed by Chris Buck (“Tarzan,” “Surf’s Up”) and produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Winnie the Pooh,” “The Princess and the Frog”), “Frozen” features the vocal talents of film/TV/stage star Kristen Bell as Anna, a young dreamer about to take the adventure of a lifetime, and Tony Award ®-winning actress Idina Menzel as Elsa the Snow Queen. The movie will feature original songs by Broadway greats Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
In “Frozen,” a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.
Bell has starred in a variety of films, including the comedies “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Couples Retreat,” and the upcoming films “Hit & Run,” “Some Girls” and the Farrelly Brothers’ “Movie 43.” On the small screen, Bell is currently starring in the Showtime series “House of Lies” alongside Don Cheadle; she has also starred in “Heroes” and “Veronica Mars.” Broadway credits include “The Crucible” and “Tom Sawyer.”
Menzel, who won a Tony Award® as Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Elphaba in Broadway’s “Wicked” (2004), landed her first role on Broadway in 1995 in the Tony Award-winning musical “Rent.” Film credits include “Enchanted” and the feature film “Rent.” She has appeared in a recurring role on TV’s “Glee” and recently released “Idina Menzel Live: Barefoot at the Symphony,” a live concert with an orchestra led by composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch. Menzel is currently on a North American concert tour.
Robert Lopez is a three-time Tony Award®-winning writer of the Tony and Grammy® Award-winning musical “The Book of Mormon,” which was co-written with Trey Parker and Matt Stone (“South Park”), and the musical “Avenue Q,” which ran for six years on Broadway and four years in London’s West End. Lopez teamed with wife Anderson-Lopez, whose Drama Desk-winning show “In Transit” is Broadway-bound, to write original songs for 2011’s “Winnie the Pooh,” a stage version of “Finding Nemo” and a new musical called “Up Here.”

She also advised that fans create Facebook support pages for the film.
Bell capped off her orders with “Thank you so much for being so dedicated. You’re all marshmallows.”

Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell confirmed for “Scream 4”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Wes Craven is lining up a bevy of beautiful scream queens for his fourth foray into the “Scream” universe.
Dimension Films has confirmed that “True Blood” starlet Anna Paquin and “Sarah Marshall” herself, Kristen Bell, will appear in next year’s horror sequel.
They will join original “Scream” stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, as well as newcomers Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, and Adam Brody, EW.com reports.
It’s unclear what role Paquin and Bell will play, however, and EW speculates they could be high-profile lambs for Ghostface’s slaughter, in traditional “Scream” fashion.
However, other horror gossip sites already have speculated that it’s Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, who will meet an early demise, Drew Barrymore-style, in the next “Scream.” That would be a nice touch. We’ll see next April.

Gordon brings tension to the Braverman clan when he sets his sights on Adam’s sister, Sarah (Lauren Graham).
Baldwin first gained recognition for his breakout performance in the feature film “Backdraft.” His other film credits include “The Squid & The Whale,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Adrift in Manhattan,” Flatliners,” “Internal Affairs,” “Three of Hearts,” “Primary Suspect” and “Born on the Fourth of July.” Baldwin will lend his voice to the upcoming animated feature “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” as well as the soon-to-be-released “1 a Minute.”

Russell Brand swings into “Hawkwood”

HollywoodNews.com: Once the remake of “Arthur” wraps, burgeoning comedic thespian Russell Brand is eyeing “Hawkwood” as his next laugh-project.
The Fox film will focus on the adventures of a real-life swashbuckler during Renaissance times.
Empire Online writes, “John Hawkwood, a talented blade-swinger with loose morals and a mercenary attitude, was paid to lead a number of different European armies in the 1400s, serving under several banners including those of both Italy and France.”
Brand brought the pitch to Fox and has his “Arthur” scribe Jared Stern working on the “Hawkwood” script.
Brand’s latest film, “Get Him to the Greek,” a spin-off of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” generated $82 million worldwide to date.

“Shrek 4” three-peats and four new openers (Get Him to the Greek, Killers, Marmaduke, Splice) fail to break out.

By Scott Mendelson
hollywoodnews.com: Owing both to lackluster competition, the complete failure of a film aimed at the same demographic, and the high ticket prices associated with 3D and IMAX theaters, Shrek Forever After once again took the top spot over the weekend. While the film opened far below expectations, the fourth picture in the Shrek saga has held off oblivion at least for the moment. With a $25.3 million grossing-third weekend, the film dropped 42% for a current seventeen-day total of $183 million. That’s well behind the respective end-of-weekend three totals of Shrek the Third ($255 million) and Shrek 2 ($314 million). But both Shrek the Third and Shrek 2 dropped 47% on their third weekends, so the fourth chapter is displaying slightly superior legs. The film may have opened with 58% of the third film’s $121 million opening weekend grosses, but Shrek: The Final Chapter is proving to be more resilient than many, including myself, predicted.
Putting the numbers into a wider perspective, the film is just $4 million behind the $187 million that Pixar’s Up had grossed at the same juncture. Now Up fell just 30% in its third weekend and grossed $6 million more to boot, but I wouldn’t call Shrek Forever After a flop or financial failure by any real stretch. In fact, I admit that I was wrong to predict gloom and doom after the comparatively disappointment opening weekend two weekends prior. Shrek: The Final Chapter won’t reach the $290 million domestic total of Up, but it should easily surpass the eventual $215-220 million total of How to Train Your Dragon (current total – $213 million). For better or worse, Dreamworks can soon claim that all four of its highest-grossing animated films are Shrek pictures. Where it goes from there is a question of how badly it’s brutalized on June 18th, when Toy Story 3 takes away the IMAX and 3D screens, as well as (possibly) the opening-weekend record for an animated film that Shrek the Third set back in 2007 (breaking the record set by Shrek 2 back in 2004, natch).

Second place went to Get Him to the Greek, which opened with $17.4 million. Positioned as a spin-off from Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Nick Stoller directed both and star Russell Brand plays the same character), this Judd Apatow-produced sex/drugs/rock n’ roll comedy opened with a number quite similar to the $17.7 million earned by Forgetting Sarah […]
