Hollywoodnews.com: Susan Sarandon may be in a little bit of hot water with some people as she apparently went after the Pope in a interview that took place this weekend.

Sarandon was reportedly talking about sending a copy of the book “Dead Man Walking” to the Pope when she let a controversial comment slip, states TMZ.

Sarandon wanted to clarify which pope she sent the book to, “The last one [Pope John Paul II], not this Nazi one we have now,” the actress said in reference to Pope Benedict XVI.

Bob Balaban was reportedly interviewing her at the time and expressed disapproval over the comment when she allegedly let it slip again.

Sarandon was doing an interview for the Hamptons Film Festival at the time.

HollywoodNews.com: Justin Timberlake is set to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend and it looks like fans may be getting exactly what they want from the show.

Timberlake was reportedly spotted shooting a skit with Andy Samberg, states TMZ. The two were spotted with Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson who were a part of the “Mother Lover” video from 2009.

The guys were reportedly decked out in their ’90s gear that was worn for their “D**k in a Box” skit.

HollywoodNews.com: As the saying goes, “Win on Saturday, lose on Sunday.” This axiom refers to the less-than-impressive track record of Indie Spirit winners repeating at the Academy Awards. Of the 48 Indie Spirit acting champs to contend the following day at the Oscars, only 10 of them have won there as well.

Last year, two of the four acting champs celebrated double victories — Best Actor Jeff Bridges (“Crazy Heart”) and Supporting Actress Mo’Nique (“Precious”). Spirit winner Gabourey Sidibe (“Precious”) lost the Best Actress Oscar to Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”) while Woody Harrelson was defeated by Christoph Waltz (“Inglorious Basterds”). Two years ago, just one of the three Spirit winners in the running at the Oscars prevailed — Supporting Actress champ Penelope Cruz (“Vicky Christina Barcelona”). Mickey Rourke (“The Wrestler”) was edged out of Best Actor by Sean Penn (“Milk”) while Melissa Leo (“Frozen River”) lost Best Actress to Kate Winslet (“The Reader”). Spirits supporting actor winner James Franco (“Milk”) was not nominated at the Oscars.

The trend of the Spirits winner also contending at the Oscars dates back to the first Indies in 1985 when Geraldine Page (“The Trip to Bountiful”) won Best Actress with both groups. Since then, Frances McDormand (“Fargo,” 1996), Hilary Swank (“Boys Don’t Cry,” 1999), and Charlize Theron (“Monster,” 2003) have repeated in this race. The 11 Spirit Best Actress winners who lost at the Oscars were:

HollywoodNews.com: So now it’s Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

The old wives’ tale goes that death comes in threes. But what can we say about the string of splits among couples of long standing in Hollywood? They’re not just changing partners, some of them seem to be changing personalities as well. Is it another sign of the end times coming?

Their shared screwball humor couldn’t keep Courteney and David together after 11 years of marriage – or David from his stunningly disappointing appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show this week, mouthing off about their lack of a sex life, and about his extra-marital “conquest.” This certainly doesn’t jibe with the thoughtful and dignified announcement of their split that stressed their ongoing commitment to their six-year-old daughter – or with David’s nice-guy image of the past. He described Courteney being tired of having to be his mother. That explains a lot.

Their political stands, social consciousness and artistic collaboration weren’t enough to keep intact couple of 23 years, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. “Maybe you have a relationship to have children and you realize that it’s fulfilled after that,” Susan said of their split last year. She also said she never imagined the relationship would end. She has, of course, since been linked with “ping pong boy” – the co-owner of their Manhattan Spin ping pong club – 32-year-old Jonathan Bricklin, though both have given half-baked denials. (She’s seeing a lot of friends these days, etc.) As we await their reality show – really! – we can add that Robbins, too, has been seen with a younger date on his arm.

Bradley Whitford and Jane Kaczmarek, wed for 17 years, recently got their final divorce papers. He grew a mustache and moved to Texas for his “The Good Guys” show, while Jane is focusing on mothering their three children, and dating someone new.

Cameron Crowe and Heart’s Nancy Wilson split this summer after 24 years. Although their unions were shorter, the last few days have brought surprise celebrity splits by thought-to-be-happy couples Ben Harper and Laura Dern, and Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman

Along with a lot of people, Susan, 63, didn’t think her Hollywood relationship with Tim, 51, would come to an end.

She told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph: “People were coming up to me in the street and saying, ‘I cried and cried when I heard. “Well, I was sadder! I didn’t think it would ever happen, either.”

The actress said their relationship had naturally run its course.

Sarandon said: “You bring people into your life at certain times, maybe you have a relationship to have children, and you realise that it’s fulfilled after that point.”

The pair have two sons together, Jack, 21, and Miles, 18 , but they never got married. She added: “I’ve always liked the idea of choosing to be with somebody. I thought that if you didn’t get married, you wouldn’t take each other for granted as easily, I don’t know if after 20-something years that was still true.”

HollywoodNews.com: Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins appeared to have a wonderful relationship which is why it shocked so many when they split not too long ago.

Sarandon has recently opened up and admitted that she “didn’t think it would ever happen,” states Huffington Post. However, now she believes that maybe they were in each other’s lives for certain reasons at the time and now that has been fulfilled.

And as to why they never got married: “I thought that if you didn’t get married you wouldn’t take each other for granted as easily.” But apparently that doesn’t guarantee it will work out.

HollywoodNews.com: “Glee” really knows how to do the “Time Warp,” “Rocky Horror Picture” style.

While it’s not news that the show will have a tribute to the 1975 cult musical film on October 26, E! reported that the original castmembers from the film – Meat Loaf and Barry Bostwick will guest star on the hit Fox show as TV station majors, who have a pitch for Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester.

In the original film, Meat Loaf played “Eddie, Ex Delivery Boy” while Bostwick portrayed nerdy boyfriend of Janet (Susan Sarandon), Brad Majors. Sarandon would love to appear, but there’s no deal on the table. Also, no word if Tim Curry aka Dr. Frank-N-Furter would make an appearance in drag or if the original “Rocky” creator and hunchback Richard O’Brien would dance alongside the Gleeks.

Buzz is that McKinley High will recreate the popular stage production. We don’t know if the jocks will be providing sassy callbacks to the Gleeks on stage. Due to the kitschy nature of “Rocky Horror,” it’s always customary for audience members to yell back insults at the characters’ zany situations on screen.

E! learned about the past “Rocky Horror” lives of the “Glee” cast: Matthew Morrison appeared in the show on Broadway and Jayma Mays sang “Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a Touch Me” as her audition song.

HollywoodNews.com: Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon has reportedly signed up for the pilot of new HBO show ‘The Miraculous Year.’

The 63 year-old will take on the role of Patty Atwood, who is the director and choreographer of the Broadway production being made in the show.

Other stars already signed up include Hope Davis, Frank Langella and Linus Roache, best known for his role in ‘Law & Order.’

The new show centres around a Broadway composer who is trying to balance his new play with his family life. It is being put together by Tony-winner John Logan and Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow, who is also directing the first episode.
