Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” will hopefully still be standing at end of season

HollywoodNews.com: Will Tim Allen’s long-awaited return to series TV, “Last Man Standing,” still be standing by the end of the season? The show launches tomorrow night (10/11) amid a hail of critical arrows. But it’s getting better and better — to hear Hector Elizondo tell it.
“Like all these shows, it’s a creature that’s creating its own path while walking. We’re figuring things out,” says the debonair actor, who plays Tim’s boss and pal on the new show, in which Nancy Travis plays Tim’s wife and the mother of his three daughters. “We have all the right pieces. It always takes a season with these. If the network gives us a chance, this will be a very successful show.”
Elizondo tells us that Allen’s involvement was the primary inducement for his joining “Last Man Standing.” “I always admired his acting. Not a lot of people think about that. The movies he’s done — I see the chops there, not too hidden under the surface, either. They’re taking advantage of that more and more,” he says of the show’s writers. It’s leading to “more and more real comedy.”

Tim Allen under contract for ‘Toy Story 4′

HollywoodNews.com: While it is unclear if a ‘Toy Story 4′ will be made, Tim Allen is currently signed on for another adventure.
With the recent success of ‘Toy Story 3,’ there are speculations that the characters will return once more. Cinema Blend reports that Allen has a contract for a fourth film and that a Disney spokesperson believes that fans can expect to see a short film involving the Toy Story gang soon.
It often occurs that actors will have contracts that include more films than are expected to be made, so Allen’s contract does not confirm that a fourth film will be going into production, but if it does, he is signed on.

Hollywood Movie Roundup: ‘Toy Story 3,’ ‘Jonah Hex’

HollywoodNews.com: The summer box office is bound to get back in shape as Disney unspools its long awaited Pixar sequel in 3-D “Toy Story 3.” Already, box office analysts are estimating the film to clear between $118-$125 million. “Toy Story 3” will bow in more than 4,000 venues. Worse case scenario for opening B.O.: $80 million.
In the third chapter, Woody and Buzz are thrown to the diaper wolves at the Sunnyside Day Care after their precious owner Andy heads for college. This was a fate that they weren’t expecting. The toy gang befriends Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (Ned Beatty), the care center’s jovial patriarch who calms them and says that as soon as youngsters outgrow them, there’s another generation. However, the truth sets in about Sunnyside and soon Woody and Buzz have to break out, prison style.
The New York Times’ A.O. Scott marveled about the film’s use of 3-D exclaiming:

“Toy Story 3,” which makes remarkably subtle use of 3-D, also explores a range of cinematic techniques undreamed of in the first two chapters, and refined in recent Pixar films like “Wall-E” and “Up.” There are swiftly edited action sequences worthy of a “Bourne” movie; low-angle compositions and nimble tracking shots; changes in the color saturation and the texture of the light — just like in a ‘real’ movie!”
Kenneth Turan of the L.A. Times praises “Toy Story 3” as a film that “pays attention to the reasons we return again and again to the motion picture experience.” Film is 100% fresh on the Tomato meter — good enough reason to go.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. DC comic-book adaptation “Jonah Hex” starring Josh Brolin as a scar faced supernatural cowboy and Megan Fox, as his, well, fox; is expected to fail grabbing $8.5 million. The film cost $47 million and was co-produced by Legendary Pictures. The comic book debuted in the 1970s and Brolin’s Hex is a bit of the anti-hero.

Film gauges 14% rotten on the Tomatometer. Elizabeth Weitzman of the New York Daily News pans “Jonah Hex”: “If all you want is a bullets-and-bombs B-movie, you’ll get your money’s worth: Somehow, Hayward makes 82 minutes feel like hours.”
On the other hand, Manohla Dargis of the New York Times sheds an immense amount of mercy on the film, exclaiming, “Though it has bad word of mouth, ‘Jonah Hex’ is generally better, sprier [...]

Buzz Lightyear front and center for international “Toy Story 3″ poster

Maybe space toys do get preferential treatment?
The first thing that struck me about the new “Toy Story 3″ poster, which sells the “Great Escape” plot line that reportedly powers the sequel, is the emphasis placed on Buzz Lightyear to the detriment of Woody. The astronaut’s twice the size of Andy’s beloved cowboy, who’s practically the same size of equally lovable (but undoubtedly second-string) characters like Hamm and Rex.
I’m reading into it too much. Pixar knows the “Toy Story” features thrive on the chemistry shared between Buzz and Woody, as well as the wry vocal play engaged between Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, and to downplay one over the other would be insanity. Plus, Woody is all over the early trailers, which follow the toys from Andy’s room the Sunnyside Daycare, where they meet a stable of new and colorful characters.
But really, Buzz is huge in the new poster. Maybe he has a better agent than Woody?
Enjoy the new international poster (via wickieblog) below. “Toy Story 3″ will be in theaters on June 18.

Tim Allen Disappointed by Disney ‘Wild Hogs 2′ Decision

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
Tim Allen tells us he was all geared up to start filming “Wild Hogs 2” in a few weeks and he’s disappointed by Disney’s decision to put the movie on hold.
“This is Hollywood; we don’t know why they put it on hold. Disney is going through a top management reshuffle. They’ve reshuffled seven of their big movies. You’ll have to ask Disney because none of us know why,” he says. “We were supposed to start June 1. The crew and the rest of us were ready to go so everybody was very disappointed. I think Disney has their own reasons and I try to stay out of that. The economy may be a part of it. You just think, ‘Boy, what’s that about?’”
For now, Allen can be seen hosting the TV Land Awards airing Sunday (4/25). The fun show honors the casts of “Glee,” “The Love Boat,” Charlie’s Angels” (including a special tribute to Farrah Fawcett), “Everybody Loves Raymond” (complete with Brad Garrett cracking jokes about his buddy and former boss, Ray Romano), and “Bosom Buddies,” featuring the reunion of Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari. Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner, Betty White and Billy Crystal are among the stars who grace the show as well.
