Carlos is an Internet pioneer that launched the Hollywood Network® online, in 1994. He is the founder and CEO of the Hollywood Network® Inc., an entertainment, marketing and live event production company, which mandate is bridging the gap between established Hollywood and the global community. He was a jet pilot in the Portuguese Air Force and studied economics at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, and film at UCLA.

In 1997, he founded the prestigious Hollywood Film Festival® and Hollywood Film Awards®. The Hollywood Film Awards® are comprised of the Hollywood Breakthrough Awards®, Hollywood Discovery Awards®, Hollywood Film Awards®, Hollywood Movie Awards®, Hollywood Netwawards®, New Hollywood Awards®, Hollywood Spotlight Awards®, Hollywood Star Awards® and Hollywood World Awards®. This year in partnership with Dick Clark Productions and C.B.S, the Hollywood Film Awards will be broadcast live.

His vast experience in brand marketing earned him executive positions and contracts with Cartier International, American Express, and the Italian Government among others. He also founded a book publishing company, Custos Morum Publishers, and co-founded the North American Marketing Services, Ltd., an international luxury goods corporation with offices in three continents; North America, Asia and Europe.

Carlos has executive produced various entertainment projects and he is the co-author of the national and “The New York Times” bestseller, Husband, Lover, Spy: A True Story,” St. Martin’s Press, as well as “Opening The Doors To Hollywood,” Crown Publishing.



Robert Welkos – Executive Editor:
bobwelkoscroppedheadshotRobert W. Welkos is an award-winning journalist who covered the entertainment industry for 15 years as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times. During this span, he wrote extensively about the movie industry from turmoil in the executive suites, the Academy Awards and Golden Globes, and box office hits and bombs to visits to movie sets as well as profiles of top stars and A-list directors, cutting edge features on the newest indie films and visits to famous film festivals like Sundance and Cannes. Prior to entertainment, Welkos worked as a reporter and assistant city editor in The Times’ Metro section where he undertook major investigations for the paper as well as covering breaking news and writing in-depth features. Before joining The Times, he worked for the Associated Press in Reno, Nevada, and City News Service in Los Angeles.

Philip W. Boesch, Jr., a graduate with honors from Brown University and with distinction from Duke University School of Law, is the founder of The Boesch Law Group. Honored as a “Super Lawyer,” and “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating levels for competence and integrity, Mr. Boesch represents a highly selective clientele of individuals and businesses.

An accomplished advocate with a history of closing complex cases, Philip Boesch was the lead trial counsel for Anna Nicole Smith, winning the $475 Million Judgment named the “Number One Judgment in the US” by US Lawyers Weekly. He won the leading entertainment case for Gary Coleman; won the largest wrongful death judgment for non-economic loss in California history; set precedent for the Wall Street Journal in the leading case for public access to court files; and defended the Los Angeles Times in well-publicized defamation and privacy cases. He was retained by 26 of 27 television news anchorpersons in Southern California in the first and leading case permitting cameras in the courtroom, and at the request of the California Judges Association, he has authored three editions of the Judges’ Media Handbook.

Enhancing his reputation as an advocate, Mr. Boesch serves as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, as a result of which he has been selected by 280 law firms to decide their clients’ disputes including hundreds of entertainment disputes.

WANT TO VOLUNTEER FOR HOLLYWOODNEWS.COM?

We’re always looking for eager volunteers to help us. People who are passionate about entertainment and Hollywood. Volunteers work a minimum of two days a week and MUST have a strong interest in journalism and film. Our volunteer opportunities include:

1. ONLINE MARKETING/BRANDING: Working on marketing/branding – SEO search engine optimization, social networking branding and increasing traffic. Some experience is a plus.
2. FRONT/BACK END SITE MAINTENANCE: Volunteer must have experience with WordPress and coding – Photo galleries, widgets, audio/video plugins. Working knowledge is a major plus.
3. NEWS MANAGEMENT WRITING: Online writing and editing. Volunteer should be familiar with the following: WORDPRESS, FTP, PHOTOSHOP and HTML.
4. WRITING NEWS: Possibility of writing stories, depending on your talent and assertiveness. Writing samples required.

Daily tasks varies but include working with wordpress website posting news items all day long, as well as editing and writing news, photos and video and techie maintenance/support of both front and back end.

This is an unbelievable opportunity to get hands-on experience in online magazine publishing as well as building contacts in the film industry.
