Return of ABC’s Flash Forward Delayed.

Attention Flash Forward fans: ABC’s sci-fi thriller WILL return, just not as soon as you may have hoped. During a visit to the Flash Forward set Friday, show creator David Goyer announced that the series would return with a two-hour midseason premiere on Thursday March 18th, two weeks after it’s originally scheduled return date of March 4th.

“Fox scheduled American Idol on what would be our first day back, and we just said screw that,” Goyer told reporters. “Almost everybody gets out of the way of American Idol.”

Unfortunately, getting out of Idol’s way may have some consequences. In the series premiere of Flash Forward, a 137-second blackout occurs and in that time, everyone sees visions of six months into the future, specifically, April 29th.

Originally, the much-anticipated April 29th episode was actually supposed to fall on April 29th. However now that the series is starting two weeks later, Goyer says he doesn’t know. “That may be one of the casualties of American Idol.”

Flash Forward stars Joseph Fiennes, who plays an FBI special agent Mark Benford whose flash forward vision guides the investigation into what happened the day of the black out. The show also stars John Cho, Sonya Walger, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Courtney B. Vance, Christine Woods, Brian F. O’ Byrne, Peyton List and Dominic Monaghan.

Actors were scattered throughout the set at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, where the series is filmed, while executive producers sat down in what appeared to be an FBI conference room to discuss plans for their show with visiting television critics and reporters.

It’s one of the few shows on TV that actually has an ongoing plot — and a good one! I followed it weekly. If they don’t put the show back on at least give us the scripts so we cam see how it was supposed to end!
