Weinstein Company snatches “Blue Valentine”


The Hollywood Reporter has reported that The Weinstein Company has snatched up “Blue Valentine” starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams from Sundance. They have secured U.S., Canadian, and Pan-Asian rights to the romantic drama from a low-seven figure deal.

Negotiations for the film lasted all night with discussions between the producers Lynette Howell, Jamie Patricof and Alex Orlovsky, as well as bidding from IFC Films and Sony Pictures Classics. In the end it was Harvey Weinstein who pulled out as the winner.
